Alton Towers: We'll create the most iconic alien in theme park history Also Alton Towers: But we'll close down it's shop and tuck a few naff shirts and bears into Galactica's store. I should be able to buy models of Nemesis (including the track.) Little alien eggs. A plush Nemesis. A costume for pets. See all that stuff they've got for Wicker Man? Nemesis deserves that too.
I have only ridden Nemesis twice, but times in July 2002. My first ride was in the back row. To be honest, I was underwhelmed. The forces were alright but I realized I had fallen into the hype for the ride (for years) and it simply wasn't what I thought it would be. On the very next day, I decided to go for a front seat ride. Much, much better. While I still don't think of the ride as the most intense inverted coaster I had ridden, the visuals were incredible and I finally realized why so many people hype the ride. It's a marvel! Great video. Hopefully someday I will visit Alton again. It's been way too long since I have gone to England.
I absolutely agree! 👍 Front seat is the way to go on Nemesis, and it's nowhere near as intense as people make it out to be overall. Unless you do it at night on the back! Makes you see stars 😉👍 Thanks too, that means a lot ☺️

when i went in may the longest queue time was 20 minutes,, towards the end of the day it was less than 5 minutes, me and my friend went on about 6 times in a row with very little breaks between it
I remember queuing around 2 hours for this 20 something years ago and it’s definitely worth the wait. Used to be some amazing views from the old queue line on the corner before the loop.
@@laceylovessart honestly nemesis does one thing better than the smiler and that’s it’s consistently short queues like it’s very rare for the nemesis queue to be higher than 60 minutes
Went on Nemesis for the first time last week. Was there with three of my mates so we had a row to ourselves. I was absolutely horrified so me, being the stereotype I am, I thought going on the 6th row for the first time wouldn’t be so bad, but was I wrong! I was contemplating my life decision s on the first incline, but as soon as it started I was loving it. It’s my new favourite ride! Love the video. I live in Staffordshire so i'm luckily able to make the trip every year and always make sure I get on to Nemesis. While it's sadly no longer the most intense Rollercoaster in the world (The Smiler is more intense in the same park!), it's aged fantastically well for something 25 years young, and still holds up as one of the UK's best Rollercoasters today.
last week was the first time I had ridden a rollercoaster. Went to Alton Towers and went from Thirteen to Rita to Galactica and ended with Nemesis. Insanely fun, and this ride topped it off. Loved every second and has made me want to go on many coasters in the future.
Have you ever tried riding it at night on the Alton Towers Halloween scarefest? The ominous redish pink glowing lights add so much atmosphere and the ride itself feels so much more intense in the dark! Personally i thinks it's a coaster that's wore its age gracefully and actually looks better for it. It used to be a lot more slick and shiny, with chrome rails, magenta oozing water and bright day glow pink ride station. I'm glad with age its lost the 90's Lazerquest feel and the beaten up "rusted" station doesn't look as much like a 70's Dr Who monster XD
I remember my first time on nemesis. Me and my brother were really worried because it said it was the most intense ride experience. We planned to go nearer to the front so it wasn't so intense, we then get asked if we can sit at the very back for some reason I can't remember, and it we were WAY too awkward to say no so we had no choice, so we got the very back seat and it was amazing, the second we started going down the first drop, all our anxiety left completely as we just started enjoying the near misses and it was an amazing ride experience!
Nemesis is still number one in the UK. It doesn't let up throughout the entire layout, its roar is intimidating and iconic and the terrain work is outstanding. 25 years and still cannot be beat. Icon just doesn't do nearly enough to dethrone this beauty
I was disappointed with Nemesis when I rode it 4 years ago. I had heard so much about how good it was and, for me, it was about as good as Great Bear (gets very little mention). I'm going to be over in the UK agains this winter so I think it deserves another chance. For now it is in my top 30, maybe 40 coasters.
I will indeed always remember my first ride on Nemesis. I went to Alton Towers for the first time a few months ago, as a coaster newbie. Started off with Wicker Man, then Galactica, and then Nemesis. I was so nervous slowly homing in on the station, and when we got to the train, it was full pit-of-the-stomach dread. One of the ride operators noticed and came over, and the friend I was with (a seasoned coaster veteran) explained that I was still new to coasters so I was feeling anxious. The ride operator said that I could sit down and try the restraints and then decide if I feel safe enough. So I sat down, strapped myself in, and finally cut the knot and decided to just do it. One of the best decisions I almost didn't make. I came out of Nemesis wanting to go right back on it! I'll be going back soon just to ride it again before it closes for a re-tracking. What an incredible thing.
I would put it in the top 5 of B&M inverted coasters. It's behind Alpengeist, Silver Buller, Afterburn and it would be a toss up between Nemesis and Great Bear for 4th place.
Loved the commentary on this video, it had me hooked the whole way through! Last rode Nemesis back in September and look forward to riding it every time I'm at Alton Towers! Class ride!! :)
Nemesis still stands up as a fantastic coaster 25 years on. I love front row, especially in the dark. Rode last week for Scarefest and it was absolutely flying round.
“Inverted rollercoasters aren’t quite as popular as the 90’s and early 2000’s?!?!” They’re still extremely popular to me!!! I get so excited for them! Just watching a video like this gets my blood pumping and I’m not even riding it! Lol. I LOVE rollercoasters, especially inverted and overall hyper coasters! The more intense the better!
All hail Nemesis 🙌🏽😇. Nice one my Loops .....l.my favourite subject . As close to perfection as you can get ! After all it has Sir ( this man should be knighted for services to Adrenalin production) John Wardleys DNA running through the track 👌🏼. I will never tire of this awsome coaster . Easily my favourite coaster ever. As you’ll know (as I commented about it here) I used to be petrified of the thing. First time I rode it was in the front row, and as soon as I got onto the brakerun, my first words were “I want to do that again”. I came back to Towers 2 days later with school and rode it in the back row. Jesus Christ, the whip on the second corkscrew. Felt like it was trying to rip my legs off.

But when I get to the park (it’s quote time) I thought ‘THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I WILL EVER GO ON THAT ROLLERCOASTER!’ Galactica was also shut with staff patrols and an air ambulance circling the park 😦😰 Ik I haven’t been on it but their personalised sports mugs are irresistible
I went to alton towers for the first time just after the smiler opened. Nemesis was one of the last coasters i went on that day and it really suprised me. It won hands down for me! Favourite coaster in the park
6:05 .... everything from rocks, fences and water...even the parks walkways are in such close proximity to the ride make this those most intense BMI ever!
Since I've been on it four times all I can say is it's still good. Managed to revisit Alton Towers last month so worth it because I got ride Nemesis again.
You need some better coasters in the UK. I'm originally from Nottingham which is the only reason that I made it to AT. Nemesis is a good ride, but nothing all that special. It can't really compete against rides like Maverick, Storm Runner, Fury, Intimidator, Leviathan, Skyrush or a dozen other coasters in Easern North America alone. I thought it felt more like Rock n'Roller coaster because you can't really see what is coming.
Simply the best for many reasons, its been there ever since i been tall enough to ride it, and it still rides just as good now as it did 20years ago. Its nearly always got a great que time. Often wickerman and the smiler have 45mins+ lines while nemesis is nearly always below 20mins. The only problem id say and its very minor is that the last corkscrew can be abit of a head basher, especially when its been running all day or abit wet. Every time i go to towers i ride it atleast 10times.
This is an amazing ride! One of the first ever coasters I rode, (I was too scared to ride them as a kid). I adore it and cannot wait to ride this again soon. I have a disability so my first ride was on the very back row, which was brilliant! Awesome video. Hyped me up to ride it again ASAP!
brilliant! this is definitely a must ride at Alton towers. if you ever get a chance I recommend trying to get the very back right seat when it is pitch black during scarefest, it is unreal!! not being able to see anything but the ride lit up in red with the insane forces that the ride pulls (especially on the back right seat) makes it an incredible experience!
Went on it back in 94 and it’s still a beast love going every year. Back there next Sunday for fireworks with my son. He can’t wait to get back on nemi too 👍🏽
It was my first inverted coaster in 1998 and the last time I was at Alton towers was 2003. This and the traumatizer which at the time I can't have found that bad because I went on it I think 7 times in one day.
Jeez is this really 25yrs old? I rode this when it first opened and again just this summer with my two now adult kids. It remains one of the best, most comfortable roller coasters I've ever ridden. Kids agreed and said it was far more relaxing and comfy than they'd expected or experienced on other rides at the park. As long as you keep your head up and back from the first drop it's actually so comfy it's almost relaxing to just ride out the barrel rolls and loops none of which you're even aware of in a frightening way. We've stayed over at the hotel as part of a package which is great in that you're given early access to the park for an hour or so before opening to the public. Just don't make the mistake some have and have a heavy breakfast first. Other park guests won't appreciate you hurling up by the platform as they get seated!
I had noticed several of the extended queues areas but last weekend I was put into a section I hadn’t realised was a queue before. I would love a chance to go round a complete queue for every ride as they have little things locked off at times and better views of the ride and park.
I like nemesis fine, but i feel i've never got the wow factor like everyone else seems to. In my personal experience it is the roughest ride in the park. It's also the only ride i get told to take my glasses off for which is a shame, i wouldnt be bothered about losing them either as i always take a cheap pair along with me to wear on the rides. Being as im basically blind without them I feel i've never got the full experience as I have no clue whats going on/whats coming half the time :')
I haven’t done nemesis yet I’m going again with my friend so after Rita I’ll try to grab the front and why don’t they have a leg long limit because how close do you get to that alien and this Video has helped me a lot I like really intense things not scared of heights any more
lol i went on nemesis because my friend wanted to and i was terrified. although i wanted to go on because i had been on vampire and loved it and i had researched that they were both made by the same person? correct me if i’m wrong. anyway we got to the front of the queue and i was about to pee myself but we were meant to go at the front.. i looked at my friend and we were like NO. so we asked if the people behind us could go infront. they were scared too, although they were like 5 years older than us. but we were second and i was telling myself i was gonna be ok at the first lift hill then at the inversions i felt so sick and i think that was mainly because i was bracing myself a lot i had my head tucked in and my eyes closed and i was really dizzy afterwards... but i think i’ll try it again and be less scared lol. (also my friend loved it)
My personal favourite inverted coaster. Always seemed the fastest/most Gs. It's a shame that Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe park only took the name from its predecessor.
My mom went on it with flip flops on a few years ago, she did the same on galactica the other day when we went. They were the same flip flops and she managed to keep them on for both by clenching her toes lol
Hi screwy quick question Im only ten years old but i went to thorpe park last week.I went on swarm and stealth but i really enjoyed swarm but stealth was ok what alton towers rides would you recommend i really want to get on galactica but still i dont know if nemesis or smiler is too intense. I love inversions but the shear look at the smiler could kill a man
No coaster will ever reach the end of its service life, unless the budget cuts mean they let it rot then decide not to invest or the location becomes so badly needed they need it for something else. However Nemesis has had footers, track and various other parts replaced constantly over the years so I am hopeful it will never reach that corporate death that is "End of service Life".
@@ChloeClements34 How many coasters especially in the states have been removed because of service life. They might not have easily available parts but a ride eventually becomes cheaper to remove then keep repairing

It was my first inverted coaster in 1998 and the last time I was at Alton towers was 2003. This and the traumatizer which at the time I can't have found that bad because I went on it I think 7 times in one day.
Nem is my first ride with a loop so I’m excited 5 days!!!
This was the first ever looped rollercoaster I rode and it definitely broke my fear of going upside down
Hoping it’ll do the same for me- I’m terrified 😭
My second favourite.. Great video as always!
Thank you ☺️👍
in the car to Alton towers right now, finally pushing past this anxiety and getting on nemesis B) terrified but also can't wait
You got this!! 💪 Have the best time ☺️
personally i was expecting more but considering its the first and over 20 years old it was amazing
My first loop was the thunder looper then nemesis in 94, good video.
Classic! Thanks mate! 🙂👍
I would love a chance to go round a complete queue for every ride as they have little things locked off at times and better views of the ride and park.
best ride ever
Feel like you could touch the water and fence 😂
I like nemesis fine, but i feel i've never got the wow factor like everyone else seems to. In my personal experience it is the roughest ride in the park. It's also the only ride i get told to take my glasses off for which is a shame, i wouldnt be bothered about losing them either as i always take a cheap pair along with me to wear on the rides. Being as im basically blind without them I feel i've never got the full experience as I have no clue whats going on/whats coming half the time :')
am i supposed to recite this video to my friends while we’re waiting in line
Word for word 👀😜
I need a trip to Alton towers again haven't been for years.
I haven’t done nemesis yet I’m going again with my friend so after Rita I’ll try to grab the front and why don’t they have a leg long limit because how close do you get to that alien and this Video has helped me a lot I like really intense things not scared of heights any more
My mom came on this with me not long ago and I’ve never heard her scream more in my entire life 😂😂
Queue is close to the ride, so the noise of it running creates anticipation.
Glad you love Nemmy just like I do :)
It's awesome!! 🙂
@@ScrewyLoops Sub added :)
@@steveselectricalstuff884 you are an absolute legend! 🙏 Thank you so much! ☺️
@@ScrewyLoops If your ever in AT, give me a shout, love to meet a fellow Nemmy fan :)
I’ve been on back row and got an end seat it was amazing
This is the one ride where my favourite part is the helix.
Benjamin McCann I get what you are trying to say but I disagree.
@@coastercountdowns7736 I agree it's very intense
lol i went on nemesis because my friend wanted to and i was terrified. although i wanted to go on because i had been on vampire and loved it and i had researched that they were both made by the same person? correct me if i’m wrong. anyway we got to the front of the queue and i was about to pee myself but we were meant to go at the front.. i looked at my friend and we were like NO. so we asked if the people behind us could go infront. they were scared too, although they were like 5 years older than us. but we were second and i was telling myself i was gonna be ok at the first lift hill then at the inversions i felt so sick and i think that was mainly because i was bracing myself a lot i had my head tucked in and my eyes closed and i was really dizzy afterwards... but i think i’ll try it again and be less scared lol. (also my friend loved it)
Went on nemisis twice on tuesday awesome ride like can feel the g force like its a beast ha
My personal favourite inverted coaster. Always seemed the fastest/most Gs. It's a shame that Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe park only took the name from its predecessor.
Can you do one for galactica? I’m quite hesitant about that one because I’ve never been upside down on a roller coaster before
I'll keep it in mind for sure!! 😁👍
Watching this and I've already ridden nemesis twice. Someone lock me up.
Blasphemy! 😵
My first inverted coaster was the smiler... I bought a water bottle afterwards to remember what an idiot I am.
Saroizle lol
It’s not an invert it’s a gerstlauer infinity coaster
@@Callumss17 i think they mean coaster that has inversions, but yeah you're right.
Before I ride, oops, too late 😂😂😂
"worth 100+ for first time"
me, who rode it for the first time when it was a walk-on: stonks
My mom went on it with flip flops on a few years ago, she did the same on galactica the other day when we went. They were the same flip flops and she managed to keep them on for both by clenching her toes lol
My worst fear is losing my shoes on coasters 😣 Fair play to her 🙌
ScrewyLoops me too, even if I have lace up trainers on, I still take them off 😂
best rollercoaster in the world
Love this! ❤️
That was the first roller-coaster I've been on and I was scared shitless
It's pretty tame even for B&M inverts.
Love Alton towers and air my favourite and nemesis's 😁😁😁😁😁
Hi screwy quick question
Im only ten years old but i went to thorpe park last week.I went on swarm and stealth but i really enjoyed swarm but stealth was ok what alton towers rides would you recommend i really want to get on galactica but still i dont know if nemesis or smiler is too intense. I love inversions but the shear look at the smiler could kill a man
Hope you had a great time!! ☺️👍 If you can do Stealth and Swarm at Thorpe Park, you will be fine with everything at Towers don't worry! 🙃
was shitting myself thought i was gonna crash into a waterfall
The question is, when Nemesis reaches the end of its service life will Towers build a new ride or just replace the track and trains??
No coaster will ever reach the end of its service life, unless the budget cuts mean they let it rot then decide not to invest or the location becomes so badly needed they need it for something else. However Nemesis has had footers, track and various other parts replaced constantly over the years so I am hopeful it will never reach that corporate death that is "End of service Life".
Nemesis is a towers classic it's still.smooth
@@ChloeClements34 How many coasters especially in the states have been removed because of service life. They might not have easily available parts but a ride eventually becomes cheaper to remove then keep repairing
