    According to Wikipedia:
Inspired by several years of successful unsanctioned annual stand-alone bull riding events, businessman and former bull rider, Shaw P. Sullivan and investment banker Erick Dickson decided to create the very first organization dedicated exclusively to bull riding in the United States, Bull Riders Only, Inc. (BRO). They founded the organization in 1991, with the very first season happening that year.[1]
BRO events attracted many of the top bull riders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) with each one paying an entry fee to participate. Every year, BRO would expand the number of events it had, with the season concluding with a world finals event where a world champion was crowned. Throughout its history, BRO events were televised on the Prime Network[1], ESPN[2] and Fox Sports Networks.[3]
The inaugural BRO world finals event for the 1991 season took place in Long Beach, California. The 1992 BRO world finals took place in Denver, Colorado.[4] The 1993 world finals took place once again in Long Beach, California.[5] The 1994 and 1995 world finals events took place again in Denver, Colorado.[4] The 1996 world finals took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.[4]
Many bull riders who competed in Bull Riders Only were unhappy that Shaw Sullivan insisted that they sign contracts with terms they disapproved of. Among them, Sullivan deciding which sponsor patches riders could wear and how much money each rider would win at each event they placed at. In 1992, twenty top bull riders from BRO and the PRCA formed the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) as its own separate tour as a way for them to decide how the bull riding competition was run.[6]
By 1997, BRO was struggling financially. The 1996 world finals was the most expensive event the organization had ever produced and it could not compete with the by-now more popular and prestigious PBR. By the end of that year’s regular season, BRO went out of business.[1]
