A big reason people can end up attracted to abusers is that abusers provide rewards (moments of let-up from the abuse) on a variable ratio schedule, like a slot machine. People playing slot machines are losing most of the time, but losing is expected, and expected outcomes don't galvanize our attentional, memory, and motivational resources. It's the rare, unpredictable wins we notice and remember, and their disproportionate influence is what keeps us playing. In the context of abusive relationships, these occasional moments of kinder behavior fuel the belief that "he/she can change," which is often how we rationalize our continued involvement. And yes, our relationships with our parents (or other figures in childhood) can entrain us in this pattern.

1:55 this description of nervous system is absolutely false. I know that is what it says in the textbooks too .. but then the known biology completely refutes that definition when we actually look at what each one does. For example the supposed relaxing parasympathethic system makes our pupils shrink while the sympathetic system makes them relax and enlarge. Same goes for the bladder , digestive tract and even stomach activity - the supposed 'relaxing' system makes it all more active and able to do its function while the sympathetic locks them up with inactivity.
It is not relaxing and stiffening processes - the body goes into specific modes of function which are controlled by three systems not two.
It doesn't work like a sea-saw either - human bodies operate on fuzzy logic which doesn't have to clear the data bank to have different data present (like a sea saw does - hitting the ground before bumping the other way)

The thing is, we never lived together because we wanted to, but because it was the only sensical option - tribe offered safety, help with kids, you could not possibly thrive all alone up on some hill. Now that we don't have to, we can see just how many of us don't want to live like that.
Certainly when space is small and people aren't extremely self-aware such coexistence leads to a ton of tension.

    • @TheMrVogue
      @TheMrVogue 2 роки тому +1

@@glacialimpala Ehhh, I think that 's counter to our nature, as our behaviors evolved to optimize for the tribe setting. We're innately wired to thrive within the tribe setting. Being social creatures, this makes sense, given that was the fundamental unit of social organization before civilization.
Modern civilization has put us into conditions we're not biologically adapted for. Just look at the depression /suicide statistics and compare them to people in nations that are less industrialized. It's not causation necessarily, but I think there's a solid link between the dissolution of the nuclear family and the adoption of increased individualism and an increase in mental health problems. (Technology addiction is probably the other big driving wedge in this regard.)
Sure there are other factors that contribute to the decline in mental health, but I see it as one of the most influential factors.
For example, children from divorced parents are statistically predisposed to having more mental health problems/harder lives in general. Children of single mothers also have similar problems. (Although a lack of resources within the family unit probably has the most effect in that regard.)
But I think the key point is that a reduction in one's support system leads to an increase in deleterious outcomes for the individual. So, it is possible for one to supplement their lack of a social support system with a surrogate support system, but generally speaking, the lessons one would have to learn to get to the point of creating that support system for themselves is harder if their social support system was weak to begin with.
Granted, there are going to be exceptions to the rule, e.g. you have an abusive tribe, abusive nuclear family etc. But we're looking at this from a general perspective.
Sidenote, also, just because you don't want to do something doesn't necessarily make it healthy or good for you.

  • @RedArtistx

Please, for the love of God, can we educate men on the fact that only 30% of women orgasm via penetrative sex. There still seems to be a lack of education on this subject, and women are made to feel bad or they get an impression they're abnormal because their boyfriend tells them that every one of his previous girlfriends have orgasms via penetration alone. It's not impossible, but it is statistically improbable. Women fake orgasms I'm afraid, mainly because they're afraid of displeasing their partners, or are ashamed they're ashamed they can't orgasm via penetration. It contributes to this unfortunate cycle.

Wouldn't it be easier for us as humans if, hypotheticaly, instead of being attached to bad things, traumatic experiences, we would be attached to good things happy experiences and so when we grow up, instead of attracting a dangerous (in a bad sense) man, we attract a confident, courageous one.
I mean, why are we like this? Why do we memorise so much only the bad things, so much so that they define our life. Its intriguing isnt it?

Your gen was so drowned in system-desinformatsiya - its invisible to you like water to a fish.
Yes in regard to the hippie thing - nah its the entire Connection to the real that is different..
And there is the point. Being pragmatic should not limit ones horizon.. Having sex before marriage was maybe not really allowed, but people did it nevertheless. Everywhere in all countries even if forbidden. You forbid yourselves, and that is ok. Its the endproduct of the liberal gender-agenda that made your generation like this - sex is simply a nuisance i guess because iiiiih juices and iiiiiih other people... idk..

The ego is a sandgrain, a meaningless mental dwarf. Once you realize your beyond the ego perspective - the player is your identity. It is formless and allpervading. A person who thinks he is a mass of hands and feet and teeth, under control of the ego, is like an animal. A person who realizes that he is a spirit spark, the player of the game, is a human, conscious of body and mind.
A person who knows "i am all, the worldocean in which the world arises and wanes, is liberated from the matrix and is truly brahman. Learn more you just hatched out of your egg, and snakes have already gotten to you.. All that is known (the earth)is a form os speech. Its body is the world. (Speech creates order via the visual cortex for all images are symbolic) All that is yet to be known is mind, for it is desirable.. its body in your head is the sky. The unknown is the breath and its body is the waters.. it is born from speech and mind and breath conquers all
