    i’m a korean learning the korean language too! thanks for the tips! i also recommend watching videos, kdramas, or news from native korean speakers to help with the pronunciation. one of the things i used to always get mixed up was 생선 (fish) and 선생 (teacher) and i combined it to make 생선님 😂

    I watch a lot of Pororo and mentioned that before somewhere else in the comments on how I learn korean and got laughed at. But it's really entertaining when you start to understand the stuff you are watching. I can also watch Kdrama or any other korean show but will probably understand 80% less than in Pororo. With Pororo my brain actually has the change to understand the word and the context and why they use that instead of something else while I only hear familiar words in other shows but can't acquire informations about the word in my head at all.

    • @heastudiess
      @heastudiess  Рік тому

      I don’t get why they laughed, but Pororo exactly the proper way to learn Korean language. I had a chance to observe my niece learn how to speak from the start and I realized that she had her basics from cartoons because they were supposed to teach children the language. And I think when we learn a language we need to consider ourselves as a kid learning how to speak from the start. So, I think we are on the right way if it feels right to us :D Thank you for sharing your experience 🌸

    You said Hanja is chinese characters but you used korean words? I'm not calling you out, this is a question out of curiosity. Can you explain what chinese characters have to do with learning korean? thanks :)

    • @heastudiess
      @heastudiess  Рік тому +1

      Hi :) it is fine to ask :) and this is what I know abut Hanja. Before Hangeul ( Korean alphabet ), Korean people were using Hanja ( Chinese characters ( they were not like a letter but characters that symbolize the referred word)) as a writing system in their own language. And after Hangeul was promulgated they started to use Hangeul as a writing system. But there are still Sino-Korean words ( Chinese origin words ) are being used in modern Korean language.
      As the Hangul processing, the hanja characters transferred into Korean alphabet but with Chinese meaning. Some of the people from old generation in Korea are still familiar with Hanja characters and use them. And what I see from Korea related videos on YT there are still Hanja signs on the streets. And I think it is a little bit easier to learn Sino-Korean vocabulary rather than Korean original vocabulary, because the characters have meanings. In Korean original vocabulary the characters are consist of letters. I wish it would be helpful. Thank you for the reply 🥰

      Many Asian languages including Korean borrowed lots of vocabulary from Chinese. If you study the more used / common hanja (meaning sounds) you will recognize them when they’re used in other words so it’s easier to remember them etc. But like a lot of rote memorization you’ll probably find you burn out if you try to learn too many too fast so just a little bit at a time is best.

    Hi @kikithedisneyfan5607 😊 I think the first and second tip are proper for only Korean language, but the others can be adjusted for all languages. There are really difficult languages to learn however not impossible if you have a strong reason to start. I started to learn Japanese but it has 3 alphabets so I decided to give up and focus on Korean because of my admission for Korean Universities. I searched for Scandinavian languages before and what I found was, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish are related with each other. If you learn Norwegian you will become familiar with Swedish and Danish. 😊 Scandinavian languages are on my wait list, I wish I will be able to start after admissions. And in my opinion, if you do not feel motivated for learning alemannic, you can take a break and focus on what you have an interest. Learning a new language is required a strong reason to start for maintaining consistency. I took a break from Japanese but I plan to start when I have an interest in the future. I wish I will. Sorry for the long and late reply. I hope it would be helpful. And yes! you can learn any language if you want 😊

    I’ve been wanting to try writing a journal in Korean but in the past I’ve never liked writing in a foreign language because I have to look too many words and grammar up it gets frustrating. And since I always did it online and the only comments I got were people correcting my mistakes instead of reacting to the content I actually found it demotivating. But it seems like a good activity in theory. Maybe it’s better to write in a notebook and not show people?

    • @heastudiess
      @heastudiess  Рік тому +1

      I wasn't used to writing a journal and I started to write since I have been learning Korean. Content is important but I actually like to look up for the words and grammar many times because it is the only way for me to keep it my mind. When I am in a real situation with my online friends I remember that I expressed it like that on the journal. It may sound toxic but I think it is better to not care about the content while writing in your target language until you get high intermediate or advanced level, but focus on learning vocab and gram. And exactly agree that it is better to not show other people and just learn from the 'looking up many times' process, and trust the process :)) sorry for a long reply. Good luck on your studies :))

    I'm not good at memorising vocabs so how many words should I learn a day? Is learning 1 hanja a day with the associated words enough?

    • @heastudiess
      @heastudiess  11 місяців тому

      Actually if you are not preparing for exams or don’t have time limit, then 1 hanja + related words will be enough, however I think it will affect your grammar learning and other skills like listening, speaking, reading. Because if your vocabulary is not enough then it makes your progress slow. So I guess 2 hanja+related words will be on point ( it will be 10-15 words in total)
