@@-John-Doe- They probably test well and get good grades because they're a dedicated student, but that doesn't mean they feel in their heart of hearts that they truly understand these concepts. It's the Dunning-Kruger; highly competent people generally believe they are not that competent, and honestly it seems preferable to have someone who is humble and doesn't assume they know everything than to have an arrogant person who knows nothing, but doesn't know they know nothing

I co-sign all the beautiful sentiments. I am a doctoral student and was struggling with the jargon and terminology. You explained this so well and I am way better with visuals. Being able to rewind and review is so helpful. I immediately purchased your book! I was shocked when someone complained about the price. I think most of us agree it's a steal! The way you behave and act as well as talk determines what type of person you are. I spent a little time to understand the concept even if I have attended qualitative class at my PhD undertaking, that's why I still stick to your videos. Keep doing the same. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

Excellent. As an Master's student I was fortunate to have had an extraordinary political theorist teach the "scope and Methods" course, as distinguished for the Methods course, which of course was uniquely wed to quantitative methods. So I was turned on a long time ago to issues of ontology and epistemology, But alas, that was quite a few years ago and I begin teaching my first undergraduate research methods course in a week.. Because of the lingering influence of that scope and methods course that explored themes of ontology, epistemology and other issues in the philosophy of science, I am committed to offering my students the same opportunity. But it's been nearly 25 years! So I am exploring every avenue to bring these ideas back to me to a sufficient degree that I can hopefully do for them what my professor did for me. Your video was very helpful. (perhaps I should have led with that!)

Just remember this, everybody has a certain world view, that is, an ontological belief about realty (or something similar). From this world view, which may or may not even be something the person is conscious of, comes all sorts of beliefs about knowledge and truth.

Thank you so much for explaining these terms in such a simple and sublime way. I am going on 50 years old and I still feel I know very very little but you sure do help.

I like the way to memorize "eTic" and "EMic" in your show, and it's will be a lifelong tenacity !!Using fishbowl model to explain etic and emit approaches, to me ,it is the best analogy ever .Thank you very much. I am ardently expecting your next video.

+Tim Wu thank you. My next video will be a while as I have a new baby and some health issues I'm dealing with. I hope to get back to it as soon as I can.
