Use min. 8 ounces to hold in current, don't cast so far , waters deep very close in. Fish the slack holes Use smelt the stanky ones. Wait for 3 dips before you set hook, there that's my advice from an old Rainier Oregon plunker lol great job getting out and doing it Bushy Out!
I use railroad spikes on lighter leader count on loosing your weight every cast but once you get bite I have best luck reeling down until you get tight then set hook I’ve count them just dropping straight down there
You need to let them chew on it for a bit and fish a dropper .a three way swivel with 18 tob24" lead down to a 8 to 10 oz sinker. 6 to 8 " lead to your hook. And stretchy string the crap out of the bait .that's the only way to fish the bank in my opinion .keeps your hook off the bottom and out of the snags .pour your own sinkers or use rocks or railroad ties because you will loose tons of them depending on the water .less drifting means less snags
@@TheTroutHammer went to EE Wilson today they just stocked 900 trophy trout today at noon I caught my limit today probably gonna go back Thursday and try to get another limit
You need wayyyy more lead and fresh sand shrimp or anchovys this time of year and if you guys were hitting the hole it wouldn't be as snaggy the hole out there is 110' there is no way youre getting down with 2oz
Oh, man, this spot was NOT easy to get to. With my back I had to take the descend (about a 100' of stairs at a highly vertical angle) super slow and careful, and then the climb up has wiped me out for 4 days, now. I, personally, went come back here unless I'm in far better shape
Hey man, not for nothing but what you showed isn’t the “Reality of Oregon winter Fishing” If you put in some research online, and stay away from the goobers down at sportsman’s whorehouse, you might have better results. You just need the right gear and tackle. You brought a knife to a gun fight. As far as the “winter Oregon fishing” Steelies are in all coastal rivers, and last weekend was a very successful weekend for most who put in as much time as you guys did. Remember there’s those who like to fish and then there’s fisherman. If your gonna claim to be a fisherman, don’t make a liar out of yourself
Matt Kaminga No one caught sturgeon that day. I had buddies on boats in Saint John’s, swan island and bankers on sauvies island. And last week was alright for steelhead but it’s a slow year, I’ve only caught a dozen maybe and you definitely have to put in your time. The reality of Oregon winter fishing is it’s hit and miss. We can’t all be as good as the great Matt Kaminga that no ones ever heard of. Great video Trouthammer, subbed!
I was at this spot the week before and I caught a 6 and a half. Two of my buddies caught 7 footer and others were hooking up all over. Fishing days never repeat themselves, regardless of the spot. But excuse us for getting skunked every so often, not all of us can constantly hook up every trip. Sorry we’re not all master fisherman as yourself. Great comment tho 👍
Great video and it was good seeing you all fish together.
😎🤙

Bushy Out!
Great advice, man! Thank you 🤙
Nice video, looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
It was so worth it 🤙
From my mediocre amount of sturgeon fishing i have done i have learned you need to wait like 30 seconds of them biting on it before you set that hook
I will surely keep that in mind 🤙

Good call
Helluva fun day!
I'm glad I didn't miss out 🤙

I need a bigger rod, then 😅
Thats why they call it fishing, not catching
Yup, pretty much 😅
Hahahahaha 🙄I thought my wife made that phrase /train of thought up, as she’s mentioned it before.... lol👍🏽
😂same thing happened to me
The struggle is real
Do me a favor and hook me up to this spot please as I have a bum hip and need easy access to fishing holes. I also have friends in wheelchairs.
It's not handicapped accessible there is an extremely steep ladder to get down to it
