My favorite collection was his Spring/Summer 1991 collection. During the 1990’s the style of Versace was extremely popular in the United States. My mother loved to wear bold color shirts and animal prints. In fact, I would raid her closet. I graduated high school in 1996, we wore Versace style shirts. His influence was massive for us teens without realizing it.
So many memories of when Versace was doing his thing! I miss the couture too - the prices are crazy considering what the process of printmaking used to be.
I'll admit I've never really been one for high fashion. . I more or less have always dressed for comfort rather than style, and for the most part I don't really pay attention to particular designers and when I do I'm usually never that wowed. The one exception has always been dresses designed by Gianni Versace...I absolutely loved and still love his designs, particularly the dresses with the big colorful prints. They were always so pretty and feminine and made the women who wore them look absolutely stunning. If I could own one designer dress it would be a print designed by Versace.
Probably the most stunning men's collection I've ever seen was Gianni Versace Fall Winter 1981 and 1983, bought several pieces that were at the time insanely priced ( extensive use of rubber as a material ) . I used to own every single collection book, until that night he was senselessly taken away from us...
I love your channel :) Versace will always be one of my favorites because he could do prints in a way that looked classy. I also loved the way he talked about women, with respect for women and their beauty. I wish we could see today's models walk with the personality these old Versace models did. Now when Bella Hadid flips her hair, people gasp and it's a big deal! Well that kind of annoyed me because the only reason she could get away with that is because she is that famous. If another random model did that she would probably be done for. Designers seem to be dead set on making their models look lifeless or angry. I don't understand why the general publics opinion doesn't matter, most of us miss the days of models walking with more personality! It made it more fun.
Gianni Versace is my favorite fashion designer (one of my celebrity crushes 😍) I love his designs so I'm happy you made this video I want more people to know what a genius he was as a fashion designer his work is beautiful and absolutely incredible! ❤️

@fashionroadman - In the video at 3:18, you used the word "insane" to describe both Colin Mcdowell's comment at 3:13 about the women's fashion being perceived as high class hookers and then the labour intensive printing process at 4:34 . I am trying to understand if you mean "insane" as in a positive or negative connotation in both circumstances?
Not necessarily - Capri Holdings acquired Versace for 1.83 billion Euros. The Versace family then reinvested 150 million euros of the money they received in exchange for 2,395,170 shares of Capri Holdings. So technically they still have to bend to the ultimate corporate interests of Capri Holdings, they’re just extremely important shareholders.
@@monsieurgolem3392 I am not talking labels, I am talking about how mens fashion became so prude ands conservative. And colourless and sportswear oriented. Rap influenced that with the track suit, Kangel hats, Adidas and Ellesse track suits. Mens dress style changed compared to how men dressed in the 80s. And actually rappers wore Louis Vuitton and Gucci back in the day n the 80s although fake but made by Dapper Dan. And in the 90s rappers by the likes of Lil Kim wore Versace and Versace did express their love many rap artists back in the day.

@@CuirPhotodotNet I personally am not to happy how man dress. They dress lack lustre. I feel the influence of sportswear and combat wear has become so mainstream that it has made everyone look a like. In the 80s fashion was about individuality. This is why Gen X that grew up in the 80s had more groups from New Romantic, to Punk, to Gothic, Ska, Dreadlocks Rasta and so on. The changed to sportswear and combatwear had dulled the fashion landscape so much that collection are so uniformly. Due to this people have lack of understanding of what is quality or fashion for that matter. They do not understand cut, material or how it is made. All they care about is the brand name and the price. I feel lots of us short change ourselves by buying big names but lack of quality for huge prices

That is my favorite collection as well. I was lucky enough to visit the atelier and they gave me the collection books. I was so happy i cried
It is atrocious that these brands expect to make more money now while putting in a fraction of the work!
They got bit with the Capitalism bug.

True, I think the way Hautelemode does his thumbnails with himself in the fashion background helps people understand more clearly

80% of Versace is still owned by the family. You should watch the documentary on Donnatella Versace

Pls tell us the story of Burberry next
Nooooooo, Burberry sucks
The king of maximalist clothing
I am sorry to say but it is rap that changed the way men dress nowadays.
I'm not sure, remember rappers wear/wore versace and can be pretty outlandish with other brands.
