Kevin, I have followed your work for about a year now when I first started painting. Since the Bob Ross videos are always being taken down, I watched your video's instead. I feel I can do the Bob Ross paintings pretty good now. But his were never overly detailed, as he did his in 30 minutes unedited. Since you have started doing own original paintings, you have taken it to a whole new level. These are great. I continue to use your paintings as a guide and they are teaching me how to also take things to the next level. Thank you for posting these. They are unbelievably good! Keep them coming! I wish I could share some of my work with you to get some advice.
I can almost see Angels in those clouds. I can see how a creative God made man to be in His image and likeness when talent like yours is demonstrated...a true gift! Thanks for sharing!

Usually, I don't use too much medium in the actual painting. I start by priming the canvas with a thin white medium that is about half of the thickness of the regular oil paint.
The sea, its wonderment and poignant beauty, as it is depicted in this superb piece. Your ability to capture the light in the wave is remarkable. The viewer's eye follows the land out to the sea and is brought back into the land with the waves. The illusion of moving crashing sea water, the gracefull rolling lines above the waves and the spray of toppling water on the sculpted rocks is masterful. The values throughout the painting gives the illusion of space in the piece(aerial perscpective).
Great job. Like your videos. It always amazes me that whenever a painting in this style starts out it doesn’t look like anything spectacular. Than I watch it until the end and are like wow!
I'ts obvious he learned from the masters of landscape, I believe he has perfected that technique and added his own style to crate much more realistic looking paintings. Incredible talent, and who better to emulate in this world than Bob Ross....One of the most peaceful, gentle, and talented people in the world... We need alot more Bob Rosses and Kevin Hills in the world. Remember if you don't have anything nice to say...SHUT UP!!!

The painting is fantastic, but I really think you shouldn't skip. I know you may have the impression that people won't watch it if its too long, but honestly, people who are into "bob-ross-esque" paintings, have tons of patience and actually enjoy this kind of laid back style.
This guy has some great brush strokes to learn. You may notice that the fan brush he uses is a large version. It makes the brush strokes more defined and give the paint some wonderful highlights!
That is very impressive, I'm pretty good myself with graphite, coloured pencils and pastel but after seeing this it makes me want to try my hand at painting.

Yes, it is a wet on wet method. The canvas should be covered with a thin, white medium to make the paint blend more easily.
