- Pokkén Tournament DX (Nintendo Switch) - Tekken characters moves and animation references. The 2nd part will focus on Switch version including new Pokémon. Several Tekken Easter eggs can be found in this game since it were developed by Bandai Namco.

Seeing a frog perform Miguel's one hit move is the best thing I've seen all day
Yeah, but it's nerfed compared to Miguel's for no apparent reason - it can be blocked, does only 200 damage (most characters have around 540-600) and causes an instant Phase Shift (main mechanic in the game that switched it between an arena fighter and a 2d fighter basically) while having the same start-up

Blastoise having Heihachi's moves feels like a nod and a half to the fact that Blastoise in the show has been voiced by the same VA
Pikachu has Heihachi's moves. Blastoise has Kuma moves

It's honestly pretty cool how most of these Tekken references translate so well into Pokémon. Like basing Scizor off of JACK/Alisa for example makes a ton of sense thematically, as does Blastoise with Kuma.

Blaziken as mainly Law brings it home for me personally.
Blastoise looks a little more clunkier and weird than the rest imo

One could say it's "lazy" reusing assets from Tekken...
However the fact they got really creative with how they implemented those assets, while staying true to the pokemon itself, is very commendable.

Instead of a Kip-up, Blastoise used his shell to roll over up to place. Nice touch.

I really hope we get a sequel and not just a slightly updated port. Pheromosa, Incineroar, and Froslass would make great playable characters.

When I saw Blastoise with some of Heihachi's moves, I have just got reminded that the voice of Heihachi in Tekken 7 voiced Blastoise in the Pokemon anime in Japanese.

Love that nonchalant slow-walk before Croagunk just send Blastoise flying. Exactly how it felt using Toxicroak from gen 4 onwards, dudes a powerhouse.

There's something poetic about Scizor having Jack's D-Bug.
Pokken is exactly how I wanted Pokemon to be played. No hate on the original turn-based mechanics, I just prefer head-to-head fighting more

first, you are looking for either a fighting game or the hack and slash genre. Second, animatimg each poke would be pain, there are 950+ poke as we speak and if the h&s genre can't adapt 100 characters, how could they adapt 950?

1:48 - The fact that the floating sword and quadruped mythical dog share animations/attacks with any of the Tekken cast is insane. What a cool find and great of you to show it off here.
I also find it amusing that Blastoise is a combo of Armour King and Kuma... perhaps that is why Blastoise clicked so well with me in this game (though I'm a Chandelure main; Blastoise would be my 2nd pick).
Chandelure also borrows animations from Soulcalibur. Since Project Soul also had a hand making this game.

As someone who’s played pokken for years since release and recently getting into tekken, I get excited and point out which Pokémon had which move when I see them while watching tekken tournaments. After trying out Hwoarang, I’m surprised Blaziken didn’t have his moves. Some of them would have been very helpful in the neutral
I wish Ursaring was in Pokken and has kuma and panda's moves
I'm not even a fan of Suicune like that, but as a Panda enjoyer, I like the fact that it has Panda's moves.
Blastoise being Kuma makes me absurdly happy. My favorite Pokémon and my favorite Tekken character.
I hope this gets a sequel that plays like actual Tekken and not ninja storm

This game is definitely simpler than Tekken, but nothing like Ninja Storm. Ninja Storm has a single combo string that you can move up or down. This game is nowhere near _that_ bad.

I just thought the “Pokken” name came from the fact that Bamco developed both games - I had no idea there were Tekken references in the moves too!
There's also the name of the region the game takes place from - Ferrum. As in "Iron". As in "Iron Fist" As in "Tekken".
Harada is the one directing Pokken, hence the Tekken name reference and the various stages like Dragon's Gate

Damn, I already wanted Decidueye in Smash from a design and type perspective, who knew that he has my T3 main's moves as well.
Smash already has plenty of pure zoning characters, and Pokken had plenty of grapplers. Incineroar in Smash makes much more sense for being really the only grappling character in the game.
@@budgetcoinhunter I see where you are coming from and even warmed up to John Cena Roar quickly, but I think it misses how grappling is different in Smash to the point that everyone is a bit of a grappler - Luigi is the most extreme case that survived into Ultimate.
Incineroar is definitely low mobility, unlike say Ganondorf and more going on with his grabs but it isn't like he has the best reward outside of Revenge.
Kuma's moveset looks so good on Blastoise

Back when pokken tournament was first revealed I thought it meant that it was an actual crossover beyond the gameplay-thought we were gonna see Heihachi fight a Machamp lol. I gotta replay this game sometime, it was a lot of fun
The bearspin looked better on Blastoise than on Kuma

So Blastoise (my favorite Gen 1 Mega. Squirtle was my first Pokemon), is a mix of Armor(?) King And Kuma. 2 of my favorite characters. Hell yeah

I've never played Tekken as much as knowing the characters references in moves but playing Pokken recently in all honesty with how Empoleon acts intros and win/lose poses he gives me heavy Leo vibes from Guilty Gear. Like yeah he's based on an emperor penguin. Which Emperor = King/Ruler so I knew I had to main him but thought I play Lars in Tekken for fun I might try out Cladio

One of my mains being jack, it feels so weird to see him being transposed on a character like Scizor, it gives a weird vibe seeing those chunky moves on such a fast pokemon
At least the Alisa moves make up for it and making the whole thing look pretty rad tbf
Even though Scizor looks slim and agile, he is covered in an incredibly thick metal armor coating. It's bound to be heavy!

Maybe a secret marketing move to hint Pokken 2 since Street fighter 6 announcement pretty much signals the start of the next fighting games era. Then subsequently we would get the rest Kof/SC/Tekken/Mk maybe at the mid-to-late peak of ps5/Xbox console life cycle
Idk if it's the exact reason why, but it was announced that this year is the last year Pokken will be a part of the official Pokemon Championship series.

It's a reference. It's intended to be a Tekken homage and with new skeletons and different proportions, the animations are more like recreations than ports.
