Full Short Track Race: Bowman Gray Stadium Sportsman Division Twin 25’s (8/17/24)

8/17/23 saw the Sportsman Division rolling into #BowmanGrayStadium for Twin 20’s with a points battle almost too close to call! Can #31 Chase Robertson be the youngest driver in #BGS history to win back to back championships? Well he has 2 more weeks of hard racing to make it through!
Race 1 Summary: Race 1 Saw 2023 BGS Sportsman Champion #31 Chase Robertson and #37 Chris Massie lead the field to the line. The 31 of Robertson would take off with the lead and hold it till the first caution. Lap 10 #01 Marty Wilmoth would come to a stop in the grass. Lap 16 would see #21 “Tiger” Tommy Neal sent into the guardrail in turn 3 by #03 Sterling Plemmons, collecting #54 Braden Mills and #38 Mitch Gales in the process. The final lap would see 2 spins in turns 3 and 4 as #0 Kirk Sheets would turn #22 Wesley Thompson and #24 AJ Bernys would send #37 Chris Massie around. In the end #31 Chase Robertson would lead flag to flag and collect another win at the #MadHouse!
Race 2 Summary: Race 2 would see #54 Braden Mills and #21 “Tiger” Tommy Neal on the point. The 21 of Neal would take the early lead. Lap 3 would see the Taylor/Robertson feud continue as #31 Chase Robertson would spin #12 Justin Taylor on the backstretch. Lap 8 and 10 would see debris cautions as #0 Kirk Sheets and #15 T. Dawson were spreading parts and fluid. On the restart #23 Dylan Ward would turn the leader #21 Tommy Neal in turn 2! To the distain of Tommy Neal #23 Dylan Ward would get his first win of the 2024 season!
