- I decided to do a little build video to highlight the equipment, installation and some things i noticed while building this plane. I have never done a build video before and this is my first one. It is not a complete build just the highlights. There are pictures at the end to show different parts of the plane in more detail.
Equipment:
Futaba 16IZ Radio
Futaba R7008SB Receiver
Demon Cortex Pro Gyro
Ejets Jetfan Pro 120mm EDF
HET 800-68-685KV Motor
Hobbywing 200amp ESC
Savox SB2292SG - Canard Servo
Savox SV1260MG - Elevon Servos
MKS6130 - Rudder Servos
Savox SV1250MG - Nose Wheel Steering Servo
I am building one right now with a Schubeler 120mm running 14S. This video has been incredibly helpful! THANK YOU!
Great. Glad I could help. Please post your 14S Lizard. I would love to see it.
I am thinking of getting this model and this video is very helpful!
I am after maximal static thrust for 3D flying - do you think a 128mm EDF (HST from Schubeler) would fit? Looking at the mounting of your Jetfan, it looks like getting 4mm extra on the sides would be doable. What do you think?
Glad this helped. I am doubtful that a 128mm would fit unless you sanded down the mounting rails. You would also have an issue with the thrust ring. Not sure if 3D is possible with an EDF but would love to see it. I did just make a 3D printed thrust tube that improved the performance a lot.
Are the canards optional? Or do you need them to get cg right. I never liked the m on my tortuga and removed them. Plane was more stable and less pitchy without them.
I have never seen one without the Canards. Don't know how well it would work. It lands pretty slow with the Canards.
@@pilot482 Thanks. Cant believe you had to add a tray for CG. That is a bummer. I am really close to getting one of these for running 12s
Hello,
Sweet jet, we're did you order the jet fan 120 from?
I got mine from TurbinesRC. I have bought a lot from them and have had nothing but a great experience so far. I will be ordering 2 more of these fans for other projects.
Not yet. Still having too much fun. I have 2 other 120mm edfs that I need fans for and was going to build the thrust tube using those instead of removing mine from the plane. Also one of our club members talked about 3d printing one.
Oh man! That sounds awesome. That color would look extremely cool. Wonder how heavy it would be.
Awesome! I would definitely be willing to try that. If you want to email me, my Gmail is the same as my UA-cam name.
do you know what the esc timing is set at?
Sorry I dont. I don't think i changed it from stock but next time I get it out I will try to look it up.
Beautiful. Ive had many sab helicopters and the quality was awesome. IVe been flying some cheap foam jets from freewing and they just cant perform. Tired of spending money on cool looking jets that have no power or performance. Im really looking at getting one of these lizards with a 120mm fan from jetfan. How does this jet perform with thrust vecioring
.
This is my absolute favorite jet to fly. Unfortunately it would be difficult to add thrust vectoring to the EDF version. The mounting bulkhead is too small and would block the air from the fan. You also would not have a good path for the servos on control it since the fan is larger than a turbine. The thrust vector equipment sold by SAB is only for the turbine version.
@@pilot482 Do you think a thrust vectoring from this model, as shown on video would fit? ua-cam.com/video/j4YjvywrzQo/v-deo.html
You could mount it to the same wooden planks as the EDF and by adding a thrust tube, one could place one servo on top of the tube and another one on the wooden plank.
