I ordered some by accident from returning products for my very small Futura 64mm. I was afraid about the weight but now I fly them also on my 70mm (6S 2200mAh) FW F-16. They have plenty of power and real capacity. Super packs! Have the minimal sag I could measure from all my packs!
Every single plane that I put it in the performance was fantastic. I like the extra weight in the plane because it doesn't get pushed around as much in the wind both in the f-22, f18, Yak 130 and FMS super scorpion. Cheers
@@ghoustanable do you think fan and motors can handle full power continuously on 9 or 10s without breaking or burning? I'm very tempted to try this but want to make sure reliability will be reasonable too...
@@acw400 I've run them hard with absolutely no issues on 9s and 10s. The motors have never burnt up nor have I had any rotor failure other than sucking something into the rotors off the runway. What I definitely can't tell you is that 12s is definitely a no-go... you will destroy the motor and the rotor. That said, the answer to your next question is yes I did try it on 12s on my thrust stand can't remember what the numbers were but it was insane and it only lasted for about 30 seconds before the rotor completely destroyed the entire unit. It depends on the plane. If I'm running high voltage servos, I use 2s lipo directly to the receiver. If it's like a freewing plane that needs 5.5 V, then I use a BEC.
Quick question. I have this exact set up for my Freewing F22. Is there anything specific I may need when extending the battery leads from the esc? Or can I just extend the wires to reach my battery? Also, is the castle 20amp bec sufficient for the Freewing F22 or is there something I need to add? Thank you and sorry for the book. New to this side of building custom.
20 amp bec is more than sufficient for the F-22. Regarding extending the battery leads, just make sure that you match the gauge of wire for the extension. Also, I'd recommend soldering the extension wires together as opposed to putting in bullet connectors to make the extension connection. I did that with my F-22, and it ended up costing me my plane due to a partially disconnected bullet connector causing arcing and eventual power loss in flight. See the link below below of that crash. Cheers and good luck 👍. ua-cam.com/video/2IEh14r_ZeA/v-deo.html
Ran mine on 12s and it ran like a champ. Definitely more punch to it. Still isn't getting hot at all. Same set up. Castle 160amp esc, Castle 20amp bec, with the FMS 4075-1500kv 90mm edf. Not sure if you have tried a bench test 12s yet but I must say that FMS motor is a beast.
@Jason Willoughby that's fantastic. I'm definitely going to be trying that once I have batteries that can fit. Thanks for the heads up on this. Send me a link if you've got a video of the flight. Cheers 🍻
@@ghoustanable I'll have to get a video this weekend for you then. Only have a certain 2 batteries that fit to run it 12s. They are premium HRB 6s 5200 100c. They are short and stubby. The graphine 6s 5000 100c won't fit in there good enough and maintain cg.
This is very sick on 10S. This week I ordered some 5S CNHL 4000 just in case xD xD But I would probably go with 10S LiIon that would be in the middle and 9000mAh or 10000mAh with similar pack weights. @ hi Garfield!! 👍🏼 well I just get the cells and solder the packs. It isn’t difficult just need a 150W iron for 15 bucks and solder quickly the copper strips on the cells. Everything is very cheap compared to Lipos and this will last up to 500 cycles . Here in Germany at local websites for e cigarettes or NKon in Netherlands. In USA there is 18650 store which also have the very powerful Ampacel JP40 which have very little IR, voltage sag and less heat but are “only” 4000 packs. I’m just starting with this but it is really cool to fly over 10 minutes on one single pack and just 1 parallel. I’ll try 2P on 80mm Avanti and L39 soon I hope but the snow has come here…
Maximum you can run this on is 10s. That said, I did do 3 test runs on 12s & on the last run up, it exploded. Personal if you ask me. The sweet spot for this motor is 9s if you want to keep the amp draw below 150amps.
@mr.maneuver287 I run Castle creation esc, so 6.5mm bullets is what's needed with that gauge of wire from the ESC. The gauge of the wire on the motor is usually smaller than the wire on the esc, which is pretty common.
@mr.maneuver287 you need the USB Castle creation dongle to go into the programming section in the software. The tab you're looking for is auxiliary. Select the drop-down for reverse thrust, and you're done. Note that you'll also need to run the auxiliary wire. I believe it's a white wire to a separate channel on your receiver to get it to work. Then, just assign that channel to a separate switch on your radio to get it to work. Cheers

Everything's been working fine however I think 9s is the sweet spot with this motor when you consider overall weight, amp draw and performance. On 9s you can get away with a castle 120 for 10s you're going to require at least the castle 160
