That bassinet is a beautiful work of art. Things just aren't made like that anymore in heavily indistrialized countries. To see such craftsmanship is almost haunting in a way.

The bassinet of Napoleon II looked like the ark of the covenant, it was so lavishly appointed. No wonder he was so spoilt.

I'm surprised this channel doesn't have more subscribers. The way they teach history is awesome, and far more interesting than many others

I'll tell you exactly how his kids felt about that.
I got my stepdad when I was seven and he called me his daughter I was always his daughter. Then 2 years later my little brother was born and the very first time we took my brother out to introduce him to my dad's new boss he introduced this is my son and this is my stepdaughter. I didn't say a word then or for the next 15 years and it just ate me up inside and broke my heart. After not being contact for several years I finally said something to him the first time I spoke to him again. I think his heart was more broken than mine I've never heard a grown man cry before and he explained to me that drugs really f*** people up

It was for me. Had a great teacher throught out high school and as a grad present my old fashioned 'Baptist' aunt gave me Durants 'Voltaire and the Age of Reaon' from his superb Civilazations series (audio available on net(. What an eye opener for a young inocent 'Catholic' boy. Been hooked ever since. Cheers history friend.

Died from a severe INNER EAR INFECTION (either Labyrinthitis or Vestibular Neuritis.
ALL OF HIS SYMPTOMS TELL ME THIS IS THE CAUSE...they would not know because the infection can not be seen from looking in the ear like when you have an infection of the ear drum.

Ain't it odd ? The child above the mother was accepted back in my youth. Believe it is a wide old tradition. Put trust in future potential. What better virtue and love could better a mother's sacrifice for child just as men sacrifice their own lives willingly to defend a home ?
    Times have changed ?

In an age when childbirth was number one killer for women, you had to be picky choosing a young, healthy wife.

@@MichaelLeBlanc-p4f and crappy genes can still come from the father and can result in miscarriage/stillbirths. Hemorrhaging from delivery or spontaneous abortion is just a danger to a young mother as an older one

6:40 warcrimes ? Napoleon is one of the few leaders in history who cannot be held for such such things even in Spain and in Egypt it was always within the law of the era and with a good reason.

They made these women's lives as traumatic as possible and in childbirth make it clear that their lives are expendable, then wonder why a woman would struggle to feel a connection to her child

I find it funnyish to reffer to the lady named Joseph as an addict... While she may have been using something, calling someone Joseph(fiend) is a little harsh. In my humble IMHO.
