When I hear the intro I was like wait I remember that it's super similar if not identical to the chords of Mary Jane's last dance by Tom Petty. I read that Petty himself said he didn't think they were trying to steal and that it's just a common progression in rock music.

i know how you feel about that :( i used to hate that too but then i just take practice everyday and when i realize, my bars were sounded good!! so you have to know that can do it with the bars! :D
fantastic lesson. however on the 3:03 minute mark in the original song before the chorus leading to the solo he plays a chord lower on the neck that i am trying to figure out, if you can assist with that that would be great

helsinki vantaa spotter I had the same problem, but just practice, practice, even if it sounds like shit, just practice them and youll get results
Look up the CAGE system. You will learn bar chords fast.
Gotta know em
check what the radius is on the neck of the guitar you're playing...get a old school 7.25 radius, it makes bar chords much easier

Yea ds2 + ibanez wh10v1 or v2 or v3. The ds2 has to be before the wah to get that intense wah sound at the end of the song.

I think he plays an E there right before that last chorus
he does, he also play F# on the high E, thats the extra ring in the original track

on what pickup do you play the chorus?
I think it's the bridge pickup. If there is to much noise and you don't have a gate you can combine the bridge pickup with the middle one.
