  • Asha (aka Asher Quinn & Asha Elijah) sings ‘Rashani’ from his double album “Songs of Asher Quinn”. Download/CD available here ~ ashaquinn.com/s... This track was originally on an Asha album called “Amadora”.
Amadora is an inner heartland of mine, where I commune with higher beings. It’s an intuitive, mythological place easily accessed through the portal of spiritual imagination… a non-physical, purely etheric land of source and eternity. Each sentient being has a heartland like this, known only to them. Rashani is a Divine feminine being of incomparable grace and beauty, and my true name Asha is contained within her name. In this song I sing in the language of this land… a language known only to my heart… but it’s very visible and audible that I sing about the ecstasy of spiritual love.
We travelled to Ephesus in Turkey to film for this, my fellow pilgrim Gloria and I, and then made our way up to Meryemana, on Nightingale Mountain, 7 kms above the ruins. Meryemana is the house built for the Mother of Christ by John the Apostle, after Christ Jesus exhorted him on the cross to look after her. Following the crucifixion, John and the Mother of Christ travelled first to the island of Patmos in Greece, and thence to nearby Ephesus in Turkey, where they settled, lived and died. Nowhere in the Bible is the Mother of Christ actually mentioned by name.
I cannot say that I chose Meryemana as the location to film for this deeply personal, spiritual song with my personal will… many middle earth territories present themselves to me when I think of Amadora, such as Andalucia, the Dordogne, the Croatian island of Crs, Thessaly, the Holy Land, and many more… but rather that I was sweetly guided to this place by spirit.
Meryemana and the land around it, forested and high above the Aegean, with its olives, wild strawberries, quince, pears, apples, oranges and pomegranates, is now a peaceful place of pilgrimage. When I first saw the house and land I trembled with inner excitement and a sense of homecoming joy. We went inside and sat in silence with a few others, and I lit candles for my loved ones. I felt suspended in an angelic prism of light and love, unable to think or do anything really, but surrender.
Then we walked around outside and I gathered a bouquet of twigs, leaves, stones, pine cones and olives to take home with me. After a while we filmed for the song quite late in the day, respectfully further back in the forest. I drummed at sunset, and a force came into me which is quite tangible on the film. When I stopped drumming I felt I would fly away… the loving hands of the divine held me in a tenderly swaying embrace, orchestrating the sacred rhythm… it was a circle dance I was invited to enter by beings of light.
It was only the following day that the feeling impact of this heavenly abode with its quiet, sweetly sacred majesty truly entered my heart. Meryemana is a direct portal to the grace and mercy of the ever-loving divine mother. It is protected and tended by angels. I never want to leave this place, and I never shall. This is now my inner home, my temple, my chapel, my garden and my sanctuary.
