POEMS syndrome (Polyneuropathy Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, M-protein and Skin changes) is rare, and systemic manifestations are commonly overlooked initially. Diagnosis is often delayed 12-16 months, during which patients can be severely disabled. No established treatment guidelines exist for POEMS.
