We have talked to this guy several times and looked at some of his bike collection. I really enjoy his exhibit.
👍👍👍
I do remember seeing some of those when I was young. Very cool to see them. Thank you!
Wow, my father in law had a John Deere store here in Malone, NY. McCann’s Implements. He unfortunately sold it in the 90’s but man!, when he passed 3 yrs ago there was so much John Deere stuff to sort through! We do have the 1975 black speed bike hanging in our garage. Very good condition. My husband even came across an old parts book (catalog) & he kept that. Also, several steak knife sets, pie server w other utensils. I think we have a couple of wind up metal toys. I have an outdoor wooden bench with black metal & says John Deere on back in metal. Needless to say my husband hung onto a lot for the memories of his Dad.
I guess as a John Deere contributor he traveled quite a bit at one point to conferences or whatever function they were having. So cool to come across this. I’ve often asked my husband what I should do with all of this if/when he passes & I’m still here. We have 2 daughters 🤷♀️🤨😂.
Just on another note, my husband has a John Deere cowboy hat on display at his office, green & yellow.
I can send pics if you’re interested in seeing some of the items. 😉😊🚜. Love your video, made me think of my FIL, such a sweet man.
I remember seeing those bicycles at the John Deere Dealer that my Uncle went to back in the 70"s. That is an excellent collection.
The memories! My dad got me one of those banana seat bikes. I rode it all over the farm. Thank you for this video!
Very cool. I would have enjoyed one as a kid.
Greeting from Brazil!🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
That was fantastic to watch. I'm not sure if they were sold in Australia. But the gentleman had done his homework on the bikes and I enjoyed watching this video.. thank you .
Thank you for watching. They are part of the Deere parts program so they may have been sold world wide.
I acquired one of these bikes (the green male bike) last year and decided to see if there were any videos on them now in April of 2024. Ironically I received that bike on August 1st, the same day this video was made. I now have the matching female bike and another male bike for the the collection.
When I was a kid my dad took me to the John Deere dealer when he needed to pick up some parts for his planter. I saw the new bikes in the show room and pestered him until he bought me one. It was black (not sure if it was a 21" or 23", but probably the 21" since I was a small 11 year old. I remember barely being able to straddle the center bar and touch the ground. My dad's only requirement to get it was that I rode it home (about 6 miles) which I did on the back country rock roads of Nebraska in 100 degree heat. I had that bike until I went to college when I gave it to a cousin, who destroyed it in no time. It made me sad. Yesterday I was at a county fair in Washington State where I now live and there was a black JD 10 speed bike with a for sale sign on it in the antique tractor display section. I bought it. It has a few minor problems, but I was happy to get it. I did a search and found this video to refresh my memory on the history of the bikes. Thank you for doing this!
I’d basically forgot about JD bikes until now…thx for showing this👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻
A neat part of Deere history.
never knew this...thank you Jason!
Very interesting! Never knew JD made bikes.
Nice Jason, Allen is a very kind person
That's an amazing display😁👍 It is important to save that part of the john deere company too, not just the farm equipment.
Thanks for the interesting interview!👍👍
It was a neat get to feature the full set in one set.
We found one at our apartment complex, a little run down, it was actually left by the dumpsters, so a nice find really. It is one of the universal white type. We plan to fix it up a little bit and see about riding it around a bit. Probably will be selling it as we don't have many good places to ride it around here. More worried about bumping the tires on curbs and potholes.
I'm glad he mentioned not painting it. I had thought it would be best to not paint in some scratches it has, so that confirms that.
What a neat find. I am glad you saved the bike from a land fill. I am the glad the video helped on the painting decision.
Those are neat! Don't recall seeing any around here, either. Wonder why Deere would revisit that business? Was there a revival in cycling around that time due to the oil crisis?
We have one in the shop. Father-in-law bought it in 1973 for my mother-in-law.
Very cool to have.
Really interesting, thank you
There's an episode of the TV show "The District" with Craig T Nelson (season 4/episode 7 tilted "A House Divided") in which two of his detectives are investigating someone's home and property/out buildings etc and there is a green John Deere bicycle in one of the scenes. I've seen them elsewhere a few times too. I've also seem JD snowmobiles.
Very cool catch on the TV show.
Very cool. Thank you very much. I never found one
Awesome find!
It was neat to see the whole line up in one place.
I have a white , touring 5 speed. which I picked up about 10 years ago. It is in good shape.
I love his shirt
We have 2 JD bicycles in the Whitley County Ag Museum in Columbia City, Indiana. They are on loan from a museum member.
Very nice.
Cool Jason!!!
That’s pretty cool I never knew it
It was neat to see all options on display.
Hi BTP 10 or 15 years ago I have seen a JD bicicle in our local Dealer here in Portugal
Very cool sighting.
Those are really neat 👍
Parabéns eu sou seu fã amo seus vídeos e seu canal sucesso sempre 👏👏👍👍👌👌🙏🙏🇧🇷🇧🇷
I found this video after helping my buddies grandmother unload a trailer of "junk". The white unisex bike you have here was in the pile and she said I could have whatever I wanted for helping unload. I took that bike. It is 100% complete from what I can tell! It has a good deal of rust, but for the most part everything seems to work! Any idea what year the white unisex bike was from? Thanks and awesome collection!
Interesting. Very nice.
Very interesting 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching.
A friend of mine had a yellow 20" with the black banana seat. Don't know what ever happened to it. He might still have it. Neat bicycles.
Definitely a cool bike. 😁👍
I had a green 3 speed when I was in grade school and I ran it into the ground. Eventually replaced it with another brand 10 speed about 1978.
I have a couple of john deere snowmobiles lol!!
I had a black 10 speed as a grade schooler. Run it in the ground, we destroyed all our bikes then we moved on to snowmobiles and motorcycles.
Forgot to ask, when did Classic Green materialize? Hadn't heard anything about them until a couple months ago when a friend asked if I was going to the Classic Green show in West Bend next year. I felt bad for only offering a blank or confused expression. & a question an owl would ask. Who? Their website doesn't offer up a history unless I missed it.
It started in March 2018. They hold a national show every two years. Good organization.
@@bigtractorpower Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out the show when they come to town next Spring. Regards!
@@ikonseesmrno7300 they do a great job in putting on an event.
Never knew
It was neat to find the full set
I've got a green men's bike hanging up in our shop.
Hey would you like to see a John Deere 4000 stacking straw bails
I sure would. Harder to find tractor. Please email at toytractortimes@gmail.com
I have a John Deere bike
Taiwan is still the world hub of bicycle manufacturing. Most mainstream companies have bikes made there.
And snowmobiles
And chain saws.
I wanted one of those, but it never happened.
I wish I knew about them growing up.
I think John Deere bicycles goes back to the 1890s & the early 20th Century
They did sell bicycles in the late 1800’s as well.
I wonder did the gas crisis in 1973 cause John Deere to make bicycles? Really interesting display.
They were made by a couple companies in Taiwan.
It may have been a contributing factor.
I wonder did somebody build the bikes for JD? I cannot see JD building the bikes themselves.
Did you watch the video? It was explained :)
I have a Original Brochure !!!
Very cool. I have a brochure on them too. It has a man ridding the 10 speed on the cover. A copy of it is shown in the video.
@@bigtractorpoweryes I have the same one . I haven’t seen any other one!
My stepdad had that very banana seat bike and sold it for $2800 online
That is a good sale.
Corporate America knows the power of trinkets - even for those supposed conservative farmers. Now profit is made without trinkets for the common person. I like to eat cheap. Bless.
Hi Jason,
I was wondering if one of your next videos, you could represent a black farmer, such as @Dexterdoitall?
Hope they work better than their tractors!! Lmao 🤣
I think they work fine.
