  • This video was originally filmed as a video note for myself (you know, like hearing people recording audio notes for themselves instead of writing down on paper or typing onto phone) what I wanted to film about later. This video note was filmed after reading comments about my Dad’s signing. A few days later after filming this video note, someone commented saying that ASL 1 students know more signs than my Dad and I was like 😒 then I was like, okay, I’m making a video about this THIS weekend, which I did, with my Dad, that weekend and the video ended up being 21 minutes 🤦🏻‍♀️ 10 minutes longer than planned. Watching this video note, I decided to share this video as the short version on people criticizing my family’s signing. I’m not upset about these comments, I just wanted to make a video sharing my thoughts as I had never replied to these comments all these years, that’s all. I’m very blessed and thankful that my family signs. 😌 Thanks for watching! I appreciate all your kind words. 💛
Re: The video note - at 0:08, the first sign I used for “signing”, I’ve seen some Deaf people use it to mean to sign fluently which I changed to the different sign for “signing” at 0:10. Also, SimCom is short for simultaneous communication, it means to sign and talk (voice) at the same time.
