Special thanks to Jason Vong (subscribe to his UA-cam channel: geni.us/ak1YN) for his behind the scenes footage at this wedding
oh, I didn't know he was your second shooter until you mention it here.. I already subscribe to him.
Can't go wrong with Jason Vong! :D
Which video head is best with it
If this comment gets 100 likes I will name my third daughter Sirui.
So downvoting this!
Matt bro, just do it anyway lol
A much more elaborate way would be to name your son Ui and get him knighted.
haha.. do you know what it means in Chinese or how to pronounce it?
Matt WhoisMatt Johnson The time is approaching!
nice review kraig...
what do you think on cheaper version Neweer monopod with Fluid Head ?
Man thanks a lot you are really helpful :)
Yay, reviews!
Hey Kraig when you will interview FIORE FILMS? Thanks!
what's the name of the music playing in the background??
Is it just the locking mechanism that makes this monopod better than the Manfrotto? Cuz I personally like Manfrotto products better, and hate those twist locks. Plus, MF just released a new base that locks so you can stand it up like a tripod.
***** We'll see.. I personally don't trust those twist locks Sirui uses and prefer the clamp locks Manfrotto has.
Ryan Anthony there's other videos on UA-cam doing a more deep dive comparison...there are several other advantages such as pulling out the bottom to make a tiny tripod, the deep titling capabilities, built in "fluid head", support for multiple threads, etc. However the manfrotto includes their fluid head whereas the sirui doesn't come with one. So you're paying for the quality.

True facts

Great video bro. Love this mono pod
“Can’t go wrong with Jason Vong!”
dat bts looks gud
Before I bought my first legit monpod (about a year ago) I did a ton of research and found that the Sirui seemed to be the better piece of equipment. Bought it and loved it, but then I broke it. So I decided to buy the Manfrotto just to see what I was missing. Hated it immediately and switched it out for another Sirui. Love it!
This BTS was shot by Jason Vong..Go Jason
Hey Kraig, do you think it's possible to use the SIRUI Sirui P-204S to attach my gimbal on to? I'm asking because I don't know what the 1/4 thread is made out of and I'm hoping it can support 5lbs, so it won't snap, like my own personal monopod did.
I am a lucky owner of the P-204SR model which has the same functions. I work mainly with a Sony PXW-Z280 video camera plus accessories and due to the fact that I travel a lot, the possibility of distributing the monopod and practically putting it in the hand luggage is invaluable. The quality is excellent and additional advantage is the weight of 1.3kg ... just great! I heartily recommend.
Already planning on this purchase, but now that you made this perfect review...you better believe I'm using your amazon links! #keepkraigoffthestreets
Ethan Britt get the Manfrotto monopod with the new locking base instead. Those twist locks are lame and not as trustworthy as the clamp locks Manfrotto offers.
The annoiance of setting up tripods is pretty much gone for me since I use the Manfrotto triaut 058b. The leg system is amazing on that one. It is heavy and if you want to, you can reach incredible height with it.
If you are able to carry the weight, I can totally recommend that one. It has been my main tripod for years, and I still use my first one. They are build like a tank.
This monopod is incredible! I've bought it by your advice and tested it out yesterday. Feels pretty awesome! The build quality is quite good. I'm totally satisfied! Thanks Kraig. 😊
The solution for the floppy feet is either adhesive velcro pad/ hook pair or magnets.
Accidentally realized that Kraig Adams hiked into a wedding...
Which Manfrotto model number is that Head? TIA
Love this monopod. For stability, it's very good. I still like the manfrotto purely because i like the instability - useful for when i want support vertically but want to keep 'moving'. :)
Check out the C-Pan mini ua-cam.com/video/srRO5JdyrbQ/v-deo.html
What gimbal do you recommend for my d810 with a zeiss lens? I see you using one for low shots. Let me know
250 bucks with no fluid head? What is this made out of carbon fiber baby eagle bones?
Rockstar Cinema haha this is amazing 😂😂
same quality with different brand hits the 5-600 bucks, just saying. they are rock solid, and have super smooth movements, nothing to envy to the big boys of the market. Not to talk about how many Kgs they can cope with, compared with the similar in other brands, you need to dig deep into your pocket to be able to pay those.
Have you tried the new Manfrotto monopod that also locks? It's great.
Hey Kraig, Love your videos. I have been using the Sirui monopod for over 4 years. I hated the foam grip so I wrapped a tennis wrap grip on mine (Wilson Tennis Racquet Grip) Awesome for grip for your monopod when your run and gunning.
Lou Kulynych why did you hate the foam? I find it comfortable enough.
I just love the feel of the tennis grip for that monopod
Lou Kulynych do you think the racquet wrap will adhere to aluminum? I have an aluminum top handle on my cage and it is uncomfortable to carry around.
I kept wondering why this guy was so familiar then realised i was watching his minimalist apartment tour video some months back. Hello again.
I went for the slightly more expensive model (426) and couldn't be happier, Kraig! I couldn't agree more with you and I too lean it towards the ground for lower angle shots. After years of using an entry-level tripod, this equipment has been a magnificent product as I recently showed in a video. I'll be showing how I create custom links for genius link shortening service using my own domain next where I'm giving a shout to your channel, so thanks for all the inspiration lately!!
I really like this monopod and want to buy it, but I wonder if Sirui204S won't be too small for weddings :/
which version of the Sirui Monopod is it?
I am interested a lot plz Iam joined u r team plz
What is the manfrotto head you are using on top of that sirui monopod?
check his kit
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LEWPMXI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
he's using a MVH500AH in this video
what exact model is this? thanks!
hola, soy de Colombia, quiero saber si el estabilizador que utiliza es bueno, o es mejor que el Glidecam HD2000
Good review like always Kraig! I think you can detach the bottom part of the monopod for low-angle shots.
It's a pain in the ass, you don't have that kinda time on a wedding day.
it would have been nice that you actually put the link in the description. if your doing a product review please put the link in the description do that we know we are getting the right product.. sorry I'm going to have to give you a thumbs down on this one..
It’s a very very old video.
Cant go wrong with Jason Vong! HE DA MAN!
help+! Sirui Thailand not support / not guaranteed
Man, you never reference the model name and it isn't in your list either. :( . .. . and you reference a Monfrotto monopod as "the best monopod ever" duh. ;)
This video is incredibly old...
You going to shoot your own wedding?
Been using this for more than a year now... probably the best monopod ever..
Sirui just released an EP204 S monopod that's like a second gen of this model. You should check it out it's really awesome
Good find... Main things seems to be the legs and the clamps I guess?
Yes, and much lighter weight. I'm just curious if it can do a good enough job standing alone with a fluid head on.
Thanks for the video. This is my favorite monopod. I have had camera drop before when an old lady walked passed, grabbed the monopod and dragged it down arggghhhhh.
But apart from the one time it's been perfect. If you are shooting outdoors and you are planning on leaving it for a while, I would suggest sandbags. Great monopod, 2nds as a light camera tripod and 3rd as a light stand.
Thank Wedding Film School for such an INFORMATIVE review of Sirui monopod. I love it when you demonstrate the disadvantage of this tool. That is while folding, you jam you hand skin into the lock and it hurts. As of today, June 15th, 2024, this model is discontinued. The newer models look better. I will try them later.
what is the new model?
@@Arockstardead SIRUI SVM Rapid System Monopod
Yay~ I have this and love it!
Hi Kraig, I had a couple of questions:
1. Can the base of this monopod behave the same as the manfrotto (which I own) that allows the monopod to titlt on the ball mechanism. I get that it is usually locked but is there a way to loosen the rig a a pivot point somewhere at or near the base to do a "lean in" shot or the kind of pretend "dolly-in" shot you could do with the manfrotto?
2. I saw that the Sirui P-426SR Photo/Video Monopod with VH-10X Head ( www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1352784-REG/sirui_p426sr_vh10x_10x_carbon_fiber_6.html ) supports 22 lbs. Not sure if it's because of the head specs or if it's the whole thing, but I use a Canon C300-Mark II and I tried using it on my Manfrotto monopod, and it really seems to heavy for the rig (which the way I have my Camera built, coming at 13 lbs, I see how the Manfrotto's 11lbs max weight can't handle it... but would the Sirui P-426SR be able to handle it?
Thanks in advance if you know this. Otherwise no worries. Good video.
Once again convincing me to buy!! THANK YOU!!
Does anyone know which video that 30% off squarespace subscription was on?
I bought this complete setup on your recommendations. got delivered today and I'm very impressed...... thx bud
Hi there, you may need to check the instructions of your monopod, the lower section can be detached from the pod, and you'd get then a shorter platform that would pan and tilt from the base actually. by doing so you also win having this shorter platform and a standard monopod, using the extra top base and spike that comes with it. If it's not completely clear to you (forgive my english) have a look into this vid, it explains it very well. You seem to have the same pod, but the fiber version.

Hi! thanks for the great review. I have a question, if you unscrew the bottom legs of the tripod, can you carry the main stick inside a carry on bag? Says it's 2.37 feet at closed length. What is is without them? Thanks.
WFS... GREAT Review. I picked up TWO of them when you first mentioned them sometime ago. BEST BUY :)
So, I wonder if you can buy JUST the legs / base? Their website has some jacked-up English that I can't decipher :|
You can tighten the feet easily by using the supplied allen key (wrench). This is a brilliant piece of kit. Worth every penny. Thoroughly recommended.
Dope video Kraig! I'll have to upgrade after I purchase my GH5. Thank you! 😀
Good review love your videos. wedding film School this channel so awesome it's a lot of people who want to get into wedding filmmaking. Thank you so much kreg 😉
and yea I would like you to once check this new monopod & Tripod by company call lebic I hope you love the new design concept and the product.
I also had problems with my Manfrotto, it broke and I made a refund at amzon. This looks great for performing time-lapses during the event, without the need for a tripod.
How does the Sirui compare to the iFootage Cobra 2 line? Curious if the Cobra 2s lock like the Sirui do! I really want something that locks well
i really like your Review pretty much like all your videos. but what was up with your hair in the wedding shots? :D Like the natural crazy look like in the review parts more than that straith flat stuff ;)
Great overview. Are you still using your Sirui monopod or have you switched to something else?
I have that same monopod and used it all over the world while shooting bts for band documentaries. I LOVE IT!
I was like man, this monopod sounds crazy expensive, but it wasn't as bad as I thought
Got my yesterday, Its amuzing. thank you WFS. @walocortes
Can you make a video showing your moves/positions/usability with the monopod pleeeeaasse???
Can't go wrong with Jason Vong!
I thought you got the new manfrotto one @weddingfilmschool. this looks sweet but you can't get the carbon one in the UK
I have been looking at gear available that looks like reasonable quality. instead of using the monopod have you considered using the steadicam solo. Its a steadicam and monopod in one
Is this suitable for still photography especially with telephoto lens like a 150-600 mm ?
how fast can you adjust the locking twists on this monopod on the fly, can you extend or contract after a 1/2 twist?
Is that a Timelapse at 4.16? Looks dope if its merged with you at normal speed.
take the legs off and they become a table top tripod...should help w the minimum height issue.
Oooooooo I am going to do that for low angles at the next wedding I shoot! I do love this monopod otherwise :D
Compare video against the new Manfrotto XPRO?
Is that the new 85mm Zeiss? How are you liking it?
Awesome review. What's the gear bag you use at 33 seconds of the video?
So, do you STILL like it? Besides the occasional hand pinch?
thanks for you bro I learn from you many things LOve you ~~
maybe if you put magnets on the feet they wouldn't wiggle when the feet were up at least if there is any magnetic metal on the tripod.
Is that tripod head compatible with your Sirui and Crane 2?
Craig at 3:21 use the Hex key to tighten them down and you should be good
have been wanting this for a year or more already, can't seem to find it in australia. anyone have advice?
Kraig it is pronounced SUE-RAY. Love mine and I use it with the same video head.
Sirui 424 SR?
wait, 6'2?
How much play is there in the feet once they're open and the stick is tightened so it won't tilt or pan?
I love this mono-pod. Almost went with the crowd on the Manfrotto and am so glad I chose this one. By the way I could not find the value in the more expensive carbon fiber. The basic $159 model will do most people just fine.
3.04 "I hate the floppyness, does yours do that?"
Does the feet come with the monopod or bought separately?
what do YOU think about libec hfmp ?
Is this strong enough to handle a Nikon d750 + long lens?
Sirui Video Monopod is beast. Just used 1 on my 2nd wedding of the year!
Does it work well with a 5D mark 3?
Thank you for such a detailed review! Great demo!
great review. thank you!
can you buy the feet separately?
So random, I just ordered one yesterday. HAHA :P
