Vanessa in KOF made a convert out of me to The Sweet Science years ago. Any boxer who uses motion inputs like Vanessa or Dudley gets a look in from me now, all of them are super sick IMO and Ed looks like they took a bunch of my favorite motion input boxers and had them do the fusion dance and then gave that fusion Psycho Power. For sure for sure I'm putting in the time with Ed. Plus, I dig his theme.
I know people don't give a shit about the lore but it is something to remember that he is much younger than he physically looks due to his body rapidly aging up, so the whole brattyness does at least come across as lore accurate lol .
his fireball seems more like an anti fireball tool than like a zoning tool. extremely slow but being able to projectile clash and then follow a slow fireball could be nice

Honestly I think Ed hype is a bit more deserved than other characters, especially AKI. A big reason people were hype on AKI was that she had tools that seemed very anti-meta and people thought she could be a good counter to top tiers. Her tools ended up not being very good though so that didn’t end up being the case. Ed, on the other hand, has very meta tools, like a slow fireball, long cancelable pokes, sway, and his level 2. We’ve already seen tools like these perform extremely well in the current meta, and Ed has other tools in addition to those. While we obviously can’t tell exactly how good Ed is right now, it’s fair to say he’s likely to be a high tier.

Ed looks super cool and I will main him as I've been waiting for him since the day he was leak. But there is one thing none of the videos have shown yet : his low game. It looks like he have a great horizontal control but what about his crouching normals ? Also, we don't know how is his DR. But the character looks sick and is a clear improvement of his sf5 version.
he have some steve juggle and yamazaki sling punch that pulls you in, and some dudley sway, looks like a fun character, i don't mind he is old design from sf5
It's really hard to tell if he's going to be good or not. I expected him to have some kind of counter or spot dodge as a boxer which would have given him some crazy tools. At the same time, all the flickers are completely insane. We didn't get to see the target combos and command normals (except for maybe the Psycho Knuckle), so it's hard to tell how good basic flickers will be, but from what they showed they already look crazy. He looks really fun though, so I'm definitely excited to try him out
The details they put into this game continue to put a smile on my face. Post launch support has not been great. But there is no denying the game has far more personality poured into it compared to V.
Hate to break it to you JWong but at least from a frame by frame breakdown. Ed's OD Psycho Upper is 13F His Level 1 Super is likely 14F Level 3 is 17F. His wakeiup game is practically non-existent and his ability to blow up strings is fairly limited from the looks of it. His level is 5F btw but unless it's not invincibility it doesn't really matter in this scenario.
They're trying to make it seem like it's Ed who's telling you how to play, so just think of it in his personality and voice for it to come across better. If you remember AKIs thing, it had a lot of her personality in it as well, with her weird laugh and such.

I'm a Ed main but i don't think Ed will be top tier at launch. From the looks of it, he doesn't have overhead, doesn't have throw loop, his OD Psycho Upper is slow, and his 123 isn't safe on block. At best, he probably at B tier. Still, i'm gonna main him again though hehe.
