Me to my husband yesterday: I really want to build a Samurai but I haven’t found any good build ideas to work with.
You could also do battlemaster/way of the open hand. Take great weapon master and tavern brawler. Build into strength and use a longsword with "versatile" and make sure it scales with strength. Use your main actions to strike with your sword which utilizes great weapon master then use your bonus action to use palm strikes. Essentially playing a Kensei or ronin style wandering samurai. Also grab the titan string bow for the archery roleplay.
@jellypunk1495 you could also do a pirate RP. With the build since tavern brawler buffs your throw abilities just take zerker for bonus action throws and keep your inventory stocked with bombs lol.
Samurai also used polearms too. That's a build potential.
That invisible pike might be a nice fit
Or the dancing breeze since it scales off dex
great build!! i actually just started a fencerbuild using bard fighter, its been really fun usuing all of the maneuvers!
This build looks super sick and super fun! Might have to try it out
I've been trying to build a Samuria for months in BG3 with no successful results. *_Never did it cross my mind to go Ranger!_* Monk was always my goto. Thank you so much for this build!
Hell yes, BG 3 is back baby!!!!
I was wondering if a samurai build theme could be made. Awesome!
Mr Italian Spartacus. You are awesome
Happy to see another BG3 video, I was kinda losing interest with your other videos on other games. I love your BG# videos because most are off the wall role playing builds. I love em!
Mate i love your builds for gaining creative ideas for builds! Or just not having to break my brain trying to think of something. Im assuming this build would work in an honour team run? Or would you say its better enjoyed in tac?
Keep up the good work mate
Defensive Duellist uses your reaction, so you won't get to Riposte if you make them miss, since that requires your reaction too
THE BEST BG3 builds content creator
Just a FYI if you don’t have the extra reaction from Duelist’s Prerogative, then you can’t use the Defensive Duelist/Riposte combo since it will take two reactions and you only get one per turn
Minthara would be mad at you for that Drizzt Do'Urden reference😂
well sparty ive been critical of many of your bg3 builds - but I like this, especially you getting the history right!
So here's how I would do a 'samurai'
Id go human fighter - champion (pure, no multiclass). Because thats what samurai were. (but I agree as always with you play what you like)
for your weapon style picks - its archery and eventually defense, not sure if champions get 3 styles but if they do then its great weapon as well.
Splint armour, long bow, and longsword - no shield.
feats options would be sharpshooter, alert, mobile, heavy armour master and ASI in str dex or con.
Would this be tactician/honour mode viable - actually yes. pure fighter is one of the best choices. fighter gets 2 extra attacks and its the ONLY class that does. you get the 3rd attack at lvl 11.
There exist 2 katanas in this game as far as I know - both in act 3, hidden in basements of houses that no quest takes you to. They are statted as +1 long swords. Also the Djini at the circus has a dodgy wall hanger katana that you declare to be 'useless junk' when you examine it.
Fighter monk would also be a nice multiclass for a samurai.
very interesting!
was wondering why not go 8 fighter/4 ranger that way you get 1 more feat
With Larian Studios working to bring major mods to console, perhaps some videos on the Big full subclass mods for the subclasses missing. Would be fun to see them from a console player perspective before they are possibly introduced.
Can't wait til we get mod support for builds like this. Adding some of the magic katanas from previous games would make this way better.
Would like to see a light archer build using the bow Gontr mael or whatever. plus I like radiant damage for myself until
*spoiler alert*
the gauntlet.
I love the fun approach instead of trying to min/max a top dps build, but to build a "good" thematic RP character. That and all the cursing and verbal typos are why I keep watching long after the tl;dr 🤣
Sadly the only katana in the game is in act 3 and its only +1, so Dueling is an understandable choice. You likely already knew that though XD hence rapier. o/ Very cool build ItalianSpartacus!
Samurai? Lets gooo.
Would this build benefit from great weapon master ? I feel like this build would fall under the versatile weapon with nothing in the off hand.
Caustic band is with Derryn’s wife, not the mind flayer! Love the vid btw not trying to be that guy - just helping anyone else that was confused :)
Very cool build. I suggest grabbing the Titanstring bow in Act 1 and using STR potions if you want an OP ranged attack. The dmg riders are insane and put it over the Dead Shot for sheer dmg, but you need to use STR pots. Don't get me wrong, Dead Shot is awesome. It doesn't require the use of STR pots and adds to crit, so probably the best choice here esp for RP but you get Titanstring in Act1. Gontr Mael has that 5 round haste (once per long rest) that doesn't impose Lethargy when it ends. Very nice for that last fight in game, but I think the Dead Shot and Titanstring both do more dps in most situations.
would you please make some wildheart barb multiclass build?
where u get this set?
Considering there is only a singular Katana in the whole game and it is in act 3, it can't be easy haha
There is a katana in the game. i think you mentioned that there isnt a katana but in fact, there is. Came back to this video when i found it but its behind akabi at the circus of the last days or whatever its called. Love the build tho!!!
I did :) I was saying it's just a +1 longsword
There is actually a Katana you can use in Act 3 in a basement that is easy to get. But like he said, it isnt a very good weapon for act 3. I wish they'd have at least made it +2 since it is the only usable one in the game. Well I am sure there are mods that can help with that and once we get full mod support there will be all sorts of new classes including an actual Samurai class. :)
you can actually find real katana sword in one of the lower city house basements
My bg2 play through wad as a kensii and i think imma try this build on my Durge run 😊
Someone watching Shogun maybe...? 🥰
Light archer build where?
Wait - everyone knows Samurai is a Uchigatana. Bro starts "let's take 8 levels of ranger" LOLOLOLOL
Can't tell if you're making an Elden Ring joke or if you didn't know that Samurai only use bows while on horseback for the first 600 years! Samurai come about in the late 600s. They didn't use Swords - well Tachi - until like the 1200s - Katana isn't even used until nearly the 1300s. What's wild is that Samurai used swords for only 300 of their nearly 1000 total years of existence. WILD SHIT RIGHT BRO!?!?
sharpshooter feat just makes no sense. It makes this build more spread, why don't we just focused on melee utility
Because it's an archer... That can melee. Because that's how samurai were brother. I encourage you to make your own changes and play how you want, this is just meant to inspire you :)
I honestly thought that thisa was modded armour
It is a shame the Katana you can find in BG3 is not good, at all. At least not by the time you find it.
Changes from 90% of the games where they are the most OP weapons for no apparent reasons. And weapons such as maces or flails are trash. But yeah, sure, too bad for the Samurai build...
dear aunty larian, please watch this video and add katanas to bg3….luv u thx bye xoxo
There is a single katana in Act 3.
