Thank you for creating a hoodie that does NOT start out as a square or rectangle. I never liked that type of hoodie but it seemed that the only patterns or tutorials I could find were square or rectangle. I love this rounded look.
@@RachelAnnPotter What's weird is that I can read a knitting pattern just fine, but evidently learning to do that took up all of the storage space in my brain and I haven't been able to adapt that knowledge to crochet pattern reading. Wish I could free up some space on my internal hard drive to add more useful knowledge....
Thank you! You're a Great Teacher! I'm a visual learner! This was Awesome! I never get this twisted straight, and I thank you for the information on how not to twist your chain! Blessings!❤❤
Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that your pattern and video are great. I'm a beginner and self taught (with some expert advice), and I made this for myself using Bernat velvet in black. Your diagram of the hood is extremely helpful. The pattern itself is very intuitive so I never felt lost or overwhelmed. I can't find anything to critique on this. I feel more comfortable and confident about patterns now. Thank you very much for your work!
Oh My God! Thank you so much. This is awesome! Thank you for being so real. I have been intimated by some clothing pieces Because of blocking etc. now I’m less scared thank you thank you
I love this so much. I’ve been obsessed with making möbius/infinity scarves and wraps lately and this is definitely going to be my next project. I also love your method for making the hood. I’ve never went through with making anything with a hood for the very reason of it having the 90 degree corner on the top like an elf. As for criticism on your written pattern, I don’t really have any! Some patterns are too straight forward and I feel like all I’m reading is acronyms and numbers, which takes more thinking power for me. Some are way too wordy and I feel like I’m spending more time reading than crocheting. You’ve blended this perfectly to pack as many tips and information into small steps. You’re a natural! At least for my taste. Thanks for taking the time to record and write this! I will definitely be saving this tutorial and subscribing :)
Oh my goodness, that's incredibly kind feedback! Thank you so much. I've got some projects lined up where I'm going to MAKE myself read a pattern and build up a little bit more confidence so that I can continue to make these tutorials. There are so many great people here on youtube that have made videos that FINALLY helped me understand how to do a difficult stitch, and if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't have kept crocheting, so it's so incredibly cool to know that I've helped someone else along the way. Good luck with all of your projects, and seriously, thank you!
I think you’ll be fine adding rows to the hood, as long as your scarf is long enough to fit around your shoulders. I made my hood deep enough to drape pretty far over my face (i don’t like the way shallow hoods fit) and it ended up fitting fine. One thing that might help is to increase every few rows at the bottom edges of the hood so that it slants down towards the opening. As long as you make it tall enough to have some drape, it shouldn’t cause too many issues with the fit. Let me know what you figure out! I’m curious to know how it goes! 💖
As someone only starting out with crochet (two pairs of gloves, one blanket and starting another blanket), this will be my next project =D once I figure it out...

Is it possible to add a few back photos of this? I know it's been a couple years since this video. Its just I think the hood goes to far down my back, but maybe it's supposed it?!?! Wanna make sure I'm on track. Thanks either way.
I'll try to grab some pictures this evening! We're using the scarf in a play I'm costuming, but if I remember correctly, the hood DOES hang down a little bit farther than the scarf itself. 😅
Alright, I checked the hood and it DOES hang a few inches down past the scarf in the back. You could always make the scarf wider or the hood shorter if you don't like the proportions, but I think the main thing is that it's comfortable to wear.
Cynthia Palmer I used one skein of the Serenity yarn in the video, but i have a feeling it could take a little more of the homespun depending on what size hook you use...the Serenity yarn skein was 328 yards, so two of the lion brand seems like a safe bet!
I dont know how to create free hand like without a pattern im a new to to this like how do i get it to go in direction i want ?? And how i make it cure and go in different directions?? Does anyone have tips or pointer id appreciate anyones guide 😅😅
I promise, crocheting, free hand gets so much easier, the more familiar you become with the basic stitches and techniques. To have it curl and go in a different direction, I had to twist the foundation chain so that it became kind of a “mobius strip.” There are lots of infinity scarf tutorials that explain this better, though. I hope that helps!
The number of foundation chains you need is going to depend on your yarn and hook size. I’m definitely not great at math and I don’t want to give you a wrong number, but I usually just keep making chains until I can comfortably wrap the foundation row around my shoulders (it should hang fairly loose.) I wish I had a more accurate answer for you, but I’ve found that I have an easier time measuring as I go, rather than trying to calculate the exact number of chains I need to begin with. If you look around on Pinterest, there are probably some infinity scarf patterns that actually have sizes/foundation chain guides. Luckily, the hood part doesn’t really change much across sizes, so once you know how long the infinity scarf is, you should be good to go! Best of luck, and let me know how it goes! 💖💖💖
One skein of the serenity chunky yarn is 328 yards, but if you’re worried about running out using another kind of yarn I always play it safe and buy more than I need and return what I don’t use! The serenity yarn came from Walmart, by the way! I know you can still order it off their website 💖🧶
Thank you my 7 year old asked me if I could make her this since her neck has been hurting her again. She has cancer and it's in her neck. We are getting ready to take her back to the children's hospital next month.
Cancer sucks so much. I'm so sorry she has to go through this, and I hope it's a short visit and a quick recovery. I was so scared when my mom had cancer, and all we could do was take things one day at a time and try to help her stay comfortable while she recovered. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
