  • The impeccable design and class of a Triumph motorcycle are legendary. But will this 'baby' Triumph make it's much bigger brothers proud? To find out, I made my way to Triumph to test ride and review the all new Triumph speed 400.

I've test ridden both the Harley and the Triumph. I chose the Triumph for two major reasons:
    1. The Harley showroom guys had no idea about the Hero showrooms that would be set up around the country to sell the Harley 440x. I wanted a bike urgently, and Triumph clearly did a better job with delivery, service, and overall market awareness about the product.
    2. The Harley showroom guys talked about a subscription model for the dashboard functionalities, which seemed like a scam to me. If I am buying a vehicle, I expect those features to be given for free.
I have never ridden any bike before test riding these two bikes (been a car guy for the last 10 years) but seeing Bangalore traffic, it was the right time to get a two wheeler in my garage. I had a better time with riding the Harley, but I was given a test ride only on a good patch of road so I did not have enough data to determine. Plus, as a new rider, I feel getting a lighter bike is a better idea. Anyhow, I hope Hero speeds things up as Triumph is clearly getting the market.

Fantastic to ride, handles well. Didn't like the seat. It is hard and the material doesn't look very appealing for a motorcycle like triumph.

I also took my speed 400 from Shaman. It took me 2 good test rides to understand that although the finish, the look, the design is completely Triumph, but the heart is Bajaj. Coming from riding an R15, it doesnt offer that refinement that i had hoped for. But the torque and power is simply amazing. I also love the braking and the suspension.
Havent completed the 1000 km service, so did not get the chance to take it past 6k rpm. But yesterday i got greedy and took it to around 7k and the bike did put a smile on my face.
There are some small things that i noticed. The dash has some minor issues. The gear shifting lever is also a little rough and i get false neutrals sometimes. Throttle response as the guy (bhagwan ka masiha) in the video mentioned, is also slightly delayed, but only slightly, even after shutting down TC. and ofc bumper to bumper, the bike heats(not a lot, but it DOES). I did a 170 km ride from mumbai to pune. It was very smooth and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would suggest people buying it for city commutes, DONT. This bike is for open roads. It has great performance, and it will take some time for you to fall in love with it. It is definitely nothing like an R15, that you pull to 7k rpm and completely changes character, or a Trident, well ofc it is not a Trident. But yea you will enjoy the ride once you get your first service done and take care of the above mentioned issues.
Overall its a great bike, I love it.

Suspension is hard😳😳Seat is hard😳😳.. I think seat and suspension are perfect for Indian roads.. you should try duke 390 😂😂

Bro, did you say 3000-3500 RPM ke upar there are vibrations ? But who can even ride below those RPMs ? Ideally for an engine revving up to 9-10k, there should be no vibrations below atleast 5500 rpm. Or did you misquote ?

I think the suspension i found on softer side. I don't know which motorcycle you ride but this had a better suspension setup for roads like Mumbai. A

Interesting revelations. Can you amplify your statement regarding the comfort aspects particularly the reasons for the fatigue factor

@averagenikk I appreciate your observations and would like you to kindly comment on the riders footpeg positionings which I feel would not be comfortable for longer rides .

The suspension is soft front dives in crazy when used hard (as per my liking ) it has starter issue it didn't start in the first go had to press it for a while maybe we shouldn't complain much about the motorcycle as it's the first batch and the only reason I'm waiting them to get sold out so I can book mine 😊
