These are good heads for an old Chevy truck with a 350 engine. I put a set on my '80 Chevy truck to replace the worn out original heads. It was cheaper than getting the old heads rebuilt and raised the compression ratio from 8:1 to 9.5:1 because of the smaller 58cc combustion chambers. They also came with screw in rocker arm studs.

Hmm that’s weird, we have a street stock car with sr heads that haven’t been touched other than a valve job and they have won 5 out of 7 races, loses were due to wrecks

I have a set of vintage S/R heads without casting numbers on the side. The machine shop I took the heads for rebuild said these will out perform camel hump heads. Not sure what's done to the humps we have now, but if it's not fast enough for my wife I'll try the S/R's and come back and comment lol.

Once sold a friend a set of fuelly heads, and a few months later he wanted his money back because he had decided he was going to buy SR Torquer heads. So I gave him his money back. He put the Torquers on a 400 motor for a 85 Camaro. It never ran very well.

I have them on my corvette C4 crossfire and what a difference agains the old heads.
Offcourse the original heads are rubbish but the S/R heads are definitely not bad

I had a set of s/r heads on a 327 and it screamed. I can only imagine how much better it would have ran with a set of vertec heads. I never knew these heads sucked that bad.

These guys are biased towards balls out performance heads and not looking at the “streetable” alternatives or for truck performance heads I’m going to put these on my 383 stroker in my Squarebody truck and I’ll guarantee they’ll make great torque and a good enough flow for a great street and off-road engine. If you’re building a drag car or a race car or circle track car than yes they’re not ideal but for a truck specific stroker great alternative than say a 882 cast gm head or something like that. If you’re not reving your engine past 5500-6000 RPM than these heads are great

    Will a 350 work on a 283?

Would these be good for a 283 on the street? Love your videos, thanks!

I bought a set of world products 62cc x 200cc idk if they are some of yours or not,, but they are very nice they are acid ported or under cover heads as you say... I bought them to run on a strong 327 build, I'm not under any rules, so thinking of doing a gasket match and a mild bowl blend even though the bowls are very nice now. Engine going in a s10 blazer street/ strip build. I will finish my corvette in a couple weeks. Need to start ordering parts..The heads have 2.05/ 1.6 valves just curious what ball park numbers do you think they'll flow say if you did 'em? Only running 11.2/11.4 comp on 100 crate fuel, msd, dp air gap,, not decided on cam yet, more that likely a hyd roller, got any recommendations? 750 hp carb, hoping for 425 with a fair midrange 4k to 6k probably run a 7800 chip. I don't want to completely kill the bottom on that small engine. Even if I sacrifice peak numbers...

I have a sbc with near the same cubic inch, with a set of these heads that runs my car steady hi 9s. I do not recommend turning yours at 7800...Theres absolutely zero reason to either. I can look around and see if I can find the cam tag and let you know. Cam up however hyd roller 7.800 push rods, SS 1.5 rockers. If you run 1.6 you have to have the holes elongated. My heads have been modified quite a bit in the runners but I bought them that way, and I'm running a girdle. If you intend to crank on it hard like that I suggest a steel crank, lightwight rods and pistons from like JE and try and aim for a compression 11 or above (unless you have any intention on ever running boost of any kind). Billet main caps with ARP fasteners threw out your entire build! Or, do what I did. Buy a dart block, crank and build your own in the cubic inch you want...but its more money. Gotta give and take in the right places bud, that will work for you, your build and budget.

World Products message me back and said they had no plans to stop the cast iron cylinder head line for small block Chevys. The 200 sportsman’s and the 220 Motown’s still show available.
Dart scrapped the tooling for their cast iron heads early this years.

Im building an 87 Monte Carlo SS that came with casting # 14101081 305 center bolt heads. In the NHRA super stock class SS/JA Im permitted to run World Products heads #042650 as being accepted vs the factory casting. What im asking is this World Products head a better choice than the factory head or is there a better choice you can recommend. I have the carburated version not the TPI and the manifold casting number is #14057053. The record is 11.00 which means this 305 is going to need all the help it can get which is why I am asking you. If a stock head is better would it be better to run in the Stock Eliminator O/SA class which has a record of 13.15. Your input is greatly appreciated and i will be doing business with you.

The 081 casting is a 1.84 intake where the 042650 is a 1.94 theoretically the bigger valve could flow more air and make more power all else being equal.

What do you know about the car running 11.00 engine combo wise ?

    • @luckyPiston
      @luckyPiston 3 роки тому

The 081 as far as i know has a standard intake port similar to the 350 heads in that same era.

One thing that is a given is that the 305 is a hugely under cammed motor which is why it has such a bad rep , that motor with TBI heads (187 castings) and a stout cam can make serious power. The 187 casting has much bigger ports than the 081"s and even tho it's a swirl port still flows more air.

As a race head , ok I understand what he’s saying….but as a street head on a 283, mild build nothing crazy new casting gives piece of mind and guessing they got to flow better than a stock 283 head?
