Alright there is just a ton of miss information in this video. First off he calls it the RPK-74, there are two RPK variants, one is in 7.62x39 which is the standard RPK. The RPK-74 is not in 7.62x39 as he said in this video, it is in 5.45x39. He clearly does not understand the difference between the RPK and RPK-74. He also mentions that the magazine holds 45 rounds, this is true for the RPK-74 but not the standard RPK. He also claims the drum magazine was ditched for "budget reasons." The Russians and many others ditch drum magazines not because they're expensive but because its a bad design, drum magazines are heavy, hard to load, less reliable and make a lot of noise. Along with that, his claim that the Russians tested a 100 round drum is false, the Chinese were the ones who did that. Further more I would like to touch on his title, he seems to be implying that RPK variant rifles are good replacements for the standard Kalashnikov design. This isn't the case due to the fact of how heavy the RPK is, which may not seem like an issue to someone such as him (ill informed) but soldiers have a saying that is "ounces equal pounds." It simply isn't practical to have all of your soldiers carrying around a heavy rifle which is built for specific use. This person doesn't have a clue what he is talking about and has no right to make "educational" videos such as this.
I have a vepr in 5.45 with 23 inch barrel I can vouch that thr rpk 74 is indeed the best that 3300fps 7n6 is extremely accurate and shoots flat. Doesn't loose accuracy when he heated and can reach 1km pretty accurately
Simple and efective. The soviet/russian use all the time the automatic rifle wile otan goes and come (british army used automatic rifle and us marine now use them)
@@KaizenLife Zastava makes some fine firearms. I have a bolt action M98 in ..223 Rem. It is known as the "mini-Mauser," and shoots sub-MOA with a beautiful solid walnut stock. A pleasure to own. They've come out with a modern AK in .223/5.56, and it is on my wishlist.

Well said, Grempus.
@@TooTallDean well actually he's right the RPK was actually a squad automatic weapon not an assault rifle
Cheers buddy you have saved me from watching this video ! ill go watch someone else talking about it
What do you expect? it's a click-bait channel anyways
Yes i thought so, bcs the ak-74 itself use 5,56 and not 7,62

man you can't compare assault rifle to light machine gun, it is made for different purposes
I'm surprised for the lack of arguments over "autorifle" vs "light machine gun" terminology.
Awesome 👏
Between the Russian RPK and the Chinese Type 81 LMG I wonder which is better tougher more accurate more reliable ?

Cool AK
its just an ak-47 with extended mag
...and a heavier, longer barrel with bipod, reinforced trunion, and higher rate of fire.
@@jepkratz Very close to a ZPAP other than the rate of fire increase. Kind of want to make a budget RPK build with one.
