Love your halibut sweater. I would have to say your knitting is more advanced than you think. I enjoy you & your channel so much. Such a good variety of content. Always my favorite Leanne! 😘
Hi! Meditation changed my life ! I started meditating 9 years ago and never missed a day …! I love it ! It is amazing! Acceptance … Do persevere if you desire and you will notice the stillness and the beauty around you everywhere !
I love the dolls! Never heard of them but they are stunning looking in your photos. There is never enough time to explore all our hobbies. It’s wonderful that you have so many interests!
Thank you for such a wonderful podcast! Your colour work beanie is just perfection. You give such wonderful information in such a calming manner. So great to spend an hour with you as you are so inspirational.
I live in Airdrie! The Polka Dot Creek store is right beside my husband’s office and the town and Country Centre where the yarn show was held is right beside my kids schools😊
The “Old Port Hat” by Andrea Mowry is a great introduction to brioche. I’ve made two and it’s a very well written pattern. Great job on your projects, the grass green Rauma Finul looks great on you.
I just started to learn brioche knitting. I’m doing a two colour in the round and constantly making errors at the end/beginning of the round. I’ve watched several videos and continue making the same mistakes. I’m determined to get it so my spark of joy remains for now. Would love to steek a sweater as well. Happy new knitting year. Still busting my balls.
@@margot9080After several attempts I think I have figured out that round join issue. The purl round always begins with brioche purl and ends with a slip MC and YO. Keep your purl (CC) in the front of your work. Knit round starts with slip YO and end with brioche knit. So essentially you are doing same actions twice when you end/ start a round with the other colour. I hope helps.
That is an absolutely gorgeous hat! So glad to have found someone from my home turf (Leduc). Use as many puns as possible - I was chuckling every time!
Your Halibut is gorgeous and the bright green!! Oh!! Just beautiful!! Loved seeing Polka Dot Creek and the festival too. Finally, the doll photography is brilliant!! Arne & Carlos also do a lot of that. You should check them out. And please share your pictures with us!!
Gosh, I have FOUR Jennifer Beale patterns sitting in my Ravelry library! I love her designs but have been intimidated trying to knit them. You’ve thrown down the proverbial gauntlet so looks like I’ll be knitting one as my 2024 challenge. As always, I love visiting Canada by watching your UA-cam channel 😊
Be Brave! Wear the green sweater whenever, not just on a green holiday. It's a great green! Also love the color combo in the hat...niice. I like picking out sweaters that have a different construction from the same old you see all the time. Last year I knit the Moby and this year I've started the Corbis.
Hello from a fellow “Airdronian”. I too was at the Creekside Yarn festival. My second time going. So mush to see and feel! I enjoyed your podcast. I have many of the same goals as you do this year. Good luck with it all.
Leanne! Your Halibut sweater looks amazing!! you know you will never be cold with it on lol. I loved all your projects as usual. so much inspiration. I'm definitely adding the Fletching in my favorites! Always fun to catch up with you friend! Stay warm out there!! 🥰🧶
Your Halibut sweater is perfect--including the sleeves!! And, I love your intentions. My knitting intention is to use up stash and resist buying more yarn!
Holy Mackerel your Halibut pullover looks amazing, Leanne!🐟 😃 The crown of your Houll Hat looks like a beautiful kaleioscope. Great job on the Airdrie footage. Love the colors of your My Fletching sweater. 💚🤍 I am also having a hard time with my EEW Nano E-spinner. It is in time out right now. I also want to pick up playing the flute again. Those Blythe dolls look so cool!
Hi from Northern BC. How nice to see a Canadian blogger. Part of the reason I follow yarny bloggers from around the world is to hear and see their particular areas of the world. With you being an air stewardess, lovely to see different parts of our own country.
Fabulous as always, the top of your hat is sublime. 🥰 Yesterday here was 34°C 🙃 So many crafts, so little time! Those dolls need to travel with you! Oh the places they could go! I’m a big meditator, I’ve been doing it for decades, all different types, love it. I am going to knit things that will be staple items in my wardrobe. I’ve had so much fun knitting all the shiny fascinating things, I don’t really need anything in my wardrobe so it’s been fun but this year I want to make some timeless pieces. The other intention is to be present and stay in joy even if that’s emptying the garbage, I want to enjoy the opportunity and skip to the bin. Life’s short, play hard! Thanks for sharing and stay warm.
Oh my… 🥵 just a slight temperature difference between us. Do you use a Meditation app? I look forward to the day when I am focused on wardrobe staples, as you can tell I am currently working on all the shiny things 😆
Making all the shiny things is fun so why not. I don't use a meditation app, just settle down and let go. Most days it's easy and on the other that are not so, I just let it be. There's no wrong or right just how you are in that moment, on the days that are challenging I just let my mind wander if it needs to, relax and breathe and not feel frustrated. If there is no goal only on just being, then it makes things easier. I learnt transcendental meditation years ago - you get a manta and just focus on that so it keeps the mind busy (eventually on nothing and you forget the mantra) and the body can just let go. Enjoy the shiny things!!@@theknittystew
Kim if Fleece and Harmony adjusts her top down sweaters to reduce the amount of fabric under the arms All your projects are lively and beautiful the Fletching sweater will be amazing
I love that you have reignited an old passion for dolls. I used to be into ball jointed dolls and even designed knitwear patterns for them. Have you considered knitting for your old doll friends? I've never had a Blythe doll, and I know they come in several sizes, but I believe my Pukifee knitting patterns fits one of the Blythe sizes.
So wonderful to spend some time with you Leanne!! You are a colourwork master!! That hat is truly amazing!! I wonder if you could cut the extra bit of colourwork off and reknit the ribbing? You are making me want a super bright sweater!! Must start thinking!
This episode was great. I love your color work hat! I have made one Musselbough hat and it is my favorite for winter! It’s so fun to be on your trips with you.
You might consider holding 2 strands of yarn together for the ribbing of your Houll hat. It will fill in the gaps, give the brim more warmth and stretch, and not put stress on the cast-on (as a smaller needle would do.) Good idea to start farther into the chart.
Hat is Gorgeous! I laughed when you had it over your face. I've done that before. Also- your borrowed "time is more precious than money" quote is really intentional and thoughtful. Thanks for sharing.
The "Just for the Halibut" sweater is a beauty! Hard to make a jumper with zero imperfections. I also enjoy trying recipes and I am my worst critic as we all gobble it down with gusto. You are more critical than anyone else would be.
I love the Musselburgh hat. I made three of them this winter for my grandchildren who moved from the lower mainland in BC to Ottawa. They needed warm hats and these are super warm. My teenage grandkids love them which is super bonus! I also tested “My Fletching”. I love the colours in yours!
Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful makes. It is always a pleasure to listen to you talk about your knitting and the enthusiasm is infectious. ❤ I am a late adapter too and just bought the Musselburgh hat pattern and will be making at least 1 this year. I had a Blythe doll and remember it fondly. It is so funny to hear that some consider the doll to be creepy and I guess it could be if you think about it, but I can't get past how cool it is to be able to change the eye colour. 😉 The Airdrie, Alberta footage was beautiful and made me chilly. 🥶🙂 When I saw the name of the episode I pronounced it "air-dry". Yes, I will hang my head in shame and beg the residents to forgive me. lol Take care and safe travels until the next podcast. 😘
I'm swatching with Lettlopi right now for a sweater by Jane Mucklestone. Could have used this last week in the sub zero, but there will be other cold days.
I love your detailed info and links at the bottom. SO helpful. Beautiful knits. The Halibut is SO gorgeous…maybe I could wear one at least when fishing? Knitting is the perfect hobby for your career! Love the shop tours too…Airdrie may be doable for me!
I laughed when you said you were ‘finally’ getting in board the buzz with the Musselbrough hat… I am also about to cast in my first one! Partially because I want that simple mindless knit for times when that is required. I am also midway through the yoke of a Jessica McDonald pattern: Winter Woods with big snowflakes… but so was tempted by My Fletching. And I am planning to cast on my first Ranunculus (gasp) after I get a couple WIPs done. So many great patterns to knit and designers to explore. I love watching your adventures and listening to your chatter - you have such a pleasant manner - vibrant and calming at the same time. 💛
Howdy, neighbor. I live north of you in Sundre, and just realized there is a yarn store in Airdrie. I can't wait to visit. The closest store to me would be Yak Yarnery in Rocky Mountain House and just north of this store is the Crooked Barn; lovely owners at both places. I believe Airdrie is closer. I think I really want one of those Norwegian thimbles to make life easier.
Howdy! 🤠 Oh my goodness I would love to trek up and see both of those shops! I’ve been online to the Yak Yarnery before but it’s always more fun to squish in person. Regarding the thimble. I watched a tutorial by Dank Fiber on UA-cam to get started and I used a bead of silicone (sealant type stuff) around the inside of it to keep it from moving about on my small index finger 😂. Really helped!
I learned how best to make the Musselborough hat from the woman on Mostly Knitting podcast. She made 12 (at that time) and she goes thru each one with the sizing and everything. She does so much knitting it's crazy. But she helped me with that hat. and your Halibut sweater is amazing; i like the sleeves!
I love the dolls Leanne, your photos are great. I appreciate hearing of your 2024 intentions, always a good idea to develop new skills, I’ve been practicing my stranded colourwork. I saw you at Creekside and wanted to meet you but didn’t want to interrupt your conversation, maybe I’ll see you at Knit City Calgary.
I'm on team awesome for the dolls - and the photography!! I would love to make a suggestion for the provisional cast-on. Recently I heard about doing the provisional cast one using a barber cord (tubing) instead of scrap yarn and it's totally change my feelings about doing that cast on! When you are ready to pick up the stitches, you can slide them from the tube onto your needle. I've done this specifically when knitting a double brim hat and it's worked so well for me.
Your lovely sweater of Halibut is terrific and the sleeves look identical and in keeping with the style of the sweater. This is my first time watching, here in Calgary, AB, and am knitting a Rowan pattern, Barlow, with their gorgeous yarn, Alpaca soft DK. It’s lush. Gobsmacked with your Fairisle hat. Wee note about Halibut; when i first saw it I didn’t see the bottom of the fish thought the design was a hallelujah chorus of angels..!
Hello Leanne! I bought the Rowan wool from their website. Funny thing is that I was the first person knitting the pattern and after frogging the cable 3 times I realized 2 errors in the chart. I wrote Rowan and they graciously agreed and also sent a replacement skein of the alpaca. So kind and made a new friend. Now that I’m retired from AHS i have time to watch podcasts and will also start attending wool festivals which seems absolutely fabulous. Bestest, Janet@@theknittystew
Just catching up- whew! Love your Halibut.. not biased at all- lol. Those fingerless Mitts look perfect!… and oh my that Green!!! Beautiful on you. Used to be very much into photography (loved my old Minolta!) and regardless of the muse… a very creative outlet- enjoy!! I admire your “low buy” intentions and thrifting has become yet another passion for me too. Great time knitting with you and I look forward to catching up again next time. ❤️.Linda
Hi Linda! Thank you for your message. Soo much in common eh? I am weeks behind in my podcast-watching and look forward to some days off to see what you’ve been up to as well. 💖
That green is wonderful! I love all greens, but this particular shade does not complement my olive complexion, more the pity. I love mattress stitch, it feels like magic when you pull the yarn up, best of luck with the knitting adventures.
HI Leanne, I have just started playing the alto sax at 69 years old !!! I purchased a sax for a remarkable (approx )$300.00 US and it is giving me a lot of enjoyment ! I recommend you trying again if your neighbours don't mind. Keep on knitting and spinning !
Great video! The sleeves on your halibut sweater are great. I have been knitting for over 65 years and I modify sleeves on patterns all the time. I am presently knitting my 8th Ranunculus sweater and each one has different type sleeves. Most are gifts and everyone likes their sleeves a bit different. Keep on knitting and don’t worry about modifications. 💜🧶
Thank you for another great episode. Missed you and love seeing all your knits, very inspiring. Tag and would also like to knit the Fletching by Jessica as well as the Mitts. Happy knitting and flying the sky’s ❤❤
Wow Leanne! The Halibut is fun but honestly the fair isle beaning stole my heart. I just swoon for that kind of knitting and design,. I enjoyed getting out to the fiber festival and am impressed with your restraint. As always, it's a pleasure to carve out some special time to enjoy my coffee with you. Keep on doing the good wool work and happy trails.
Oh my gosh Sarah 🤍 if I can provide you with even a tiny fraction of the joy and inspiration your channel continually offers me I will be over the moon! Btw, I have ordered a cute little kitchen timer to try and follow your creative process with 10-15 min segments of dedicated focus on different projects.
Thank you for such a wonderful episode. I love your 2024 intensions. This year I am knitting closely with a dear friend who has had some health issues. I see how knitting helps her and brings us close together. We are planning 2 wooly weekends away during the year that will be focused on fibre festivals. We will do our own KAL and pick the yarn together for the project at the festival. We will spend the weekend knitting, relaxing and enjoying each others’ company. 💕
Just adore your channel. That sweater on you is fabulous. …. Fantastic. You are so much fun. I come away inspired. Thank you for sharing. As well…. I am enjoying the Cutbank Girls. Yarny goodness.
Always enjoy listening to all your yarny adventures. I love the Finull and have made one sweater. I plan on knitting another one soon using a different pattern.
Love your FOs. Have fun learning brioche. It is a new learn for me. I just could not get it at first, frogged my project countless times, finally put it in time out, came back and it all made sense. Guess my brain just had to work on it in the background. I remember the first time I steeked. My knitting mentor told me I was wearing my shoulders like earrings I was so tense. First time was definitely the worst, it has gotten easier. Happy knitting. Love your podcasts.
Your doll photography is amazing, please do show some of your photography on this channel, its so creative.
Love your halibut sweater. I would have to say your knitting is more advanced than you think. I enjoy you & your channel so much. Such a good variety of content. Always my favorite Leanne! 😘

Ugh yes the idea of hitting a wall during a learning curve is what keeps me from starting! But once I get started I am a determined Taurus.

YAY!! I came across a video by Laura Nelkin who does this and I am going for it!
Hello fellow Calgarian! Did you buy the Rowan Alpaca soft DK here in town? You are the second person to mention seeing “angels” in that yoke. So neat!
I like your plans for this year. I’ve been actually thinking about pulling out my violin. Thank you for continuing to make such great videos.
Violin is such a beautiful instrument!

Rock on!
Brioche is absolutely easy and FUN, very rhythmic and satisfying. Big bang for the buck as they say. Go for it!
🤜🏼🤛🏼
Your Wooly is looking so good!! And your sewing is way better than mine!! Thank you for sharing, Leanne!
🤎🤍 Love my Wooly Clutch! But I assure you my hand sewing is atrocious 🤣
Your hat is mind-blowing
Great video! The sleeves on your halibut sweater are great. I have been knitting for over 65 years and I modify sleeves on patterns all the time. I am presently knitting my 8th Ranunculus sweater and each one has different type sleeves. Most are gifts and everyone likes their sleeves a bit different. Keep on knitting and don’t worry about modifications. 💜🧶
I love your punacity! And now, after seeing your houlle hat, I will have to try some colour work
Please do! The colourwork rabbit hole goes on and on and ahhh cannot get enough of
Yes that green Fletching is gorgeous and fun!!
Also...I'm excited for the expansion of your creativity and the return to photography!
Your colour work is stunning 😊
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely perfect 👍🏼 👌🏼!!
Just adore your channel. That sweater on you is fabulous. …. Fantastic. You are so much fun. I come away inspired. Thank you for sharing. As well…. I am enjoying the Cutbank Girls. Yarny goodness.
Thank you so much for being here Cindy!
Always enjoy listening to all your yarny adventures. I love the Finull and have made one sweater. I plan on knitting another one soon using a different pattern.
Yes, I could see Rauma Finull becoming a favourite!
Thanks for all your sharing!!!! You are amazing…truly amazing!!!! ❤
Thank you so much Jo!
I adore your hat!!
Thank you I really really like it! Ella Gordon is a master
Your halibut sweater is beautiful and I love, love, love the hat. The colours are gorgeous. Love Polkadot Creek Yarns!!
Isn’t that interesting how our brains work sometimes. I know that is true!
Thanks for another fun episode. I finally got « brioche » from a workshop with Samira Hill at Rowan.
