  • Relevant for Pharmacy Students doing the OSCEs and Interns preparing for the Intern Oral Exam Part A: Primary Healthcare
The OSCE (Objective structured clinical examination) is designed to assess your ability to competently apply your professional pharmacy skills and knowledge. You must demonstrate that you can apply knowledge to the care of patients at the level expected of a newly registered pharmacist in Australia.
OSCEs allow a student to practice and demonstrate clinical skills in a standardised medical scenario. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate competency in communication, history taking, physical examination, clinical reasoning, medical knowledge, and integration of these skills. It is meant to be a fair and accurate way to assess competence, as well as identify areas that need more work and practice.
This video provides a mock OSCEs scenario. This is not designed to be a perfect scenario and students should use this video as a guide on what's expected during a pharmacy OSCEs examination.
