U: assess patient’s Understanding of how it’s affecting their life
N: non-negotiable issues (any options they don’t want to consider/discuss)
I: identify a common ground (explain all risks, establish their understanding of the knowledge you’re providing)
T: tensions (any questions or concerns so far)
E: explore possible options (tailor them to the patients lifestyle and preferences)
D: decide together
S: set a quit date
T: tell family and friends
A: anticipate challenges
R: remove all tobacco products

This is great but my OSCEs are only 6 mins long so how can I fit this into that time ?

The patient won’t talk as much in your OSCE so you still have time to ask everything
