hey chris. thanks for doing this video and luckily i found it last saturday morning a few hours before my round. struggeling with a slice badly and could not figure out whats the problem. last possible reason was my clubface at impact. your easy drills, especially the toe to bag drill help me to know now where to focus on. later the day, when using driver, i had 15/18 straight on the fairway. could not be happier! thanks again!! greetings from south germany
Hi Chris, awesome video. Thank you. “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands…”. I’ve just given this a go and it works. I’m now a very happy man. 👍😎🇦🇺
Great drills and explanations. Loved the emphasis on what the right hand needs to do. Too many instructors focus only on what the left hand, the non- dominant hand for most of us, needs to do. Thank you.
Thank you for the videos. Thanks for good editing and visual graphics. But most of all, thanks for showing what a good swing does NOT look like. Helps me realize how my normal swing tends to end up. You’ve gained a subscriber. PS, i saw on your golf bag the logo. I love my golf buddy GPS watch been using it for years
Chris, great tips to square the face and excellent explanations. However, when you heal top the last shot with the face closed, you can’t say perfect. If the driver face is extremely closed it causes the ball to strike the heel of the driver with the face very left. That combination will cause a heel top to the left. The problem with many of us is we swing out to the right in hopes of a draw but the face is either directed in the same direction as the path of the driver causing a bad push, or we do as you describe and fail to square the face which causes the push slice. What is your opinion of the modern drivers regarding drawing the ball? So many pros have reverted to a fade, could the driver be the reason why?
Just what I needed Chris. I struggle with being over the top, particularly with the big stick. I recently had a lesson with a PGA pro where we discussed my swing thought being my trail shoulder staying back. I’ll give this a go too. Wolgarston Crew! 👌🤣
Great video, love this topic. 1 qn, you insightfully identified how using the forearms to square the clubface causes issues but didnt describe what the right method is. Do you mean no forearm/supination is needed?
Hi thanks Chris that what I do in my game I've been trying everything so many videos if you can do a video lessons for me how to fix open and level shoulder on set as is what I'm doing if can thanks very much michael
This explains why I don’t fade or slice with a weaker right hand grip. Even tho they keep saying stronger right grip stops slice, but it’s the opposite for me. Stronger my right grip, bigger the slice.
I have problems with my driver...We need the producer to create a driver that somehow help us hit easier..maybe a crooked shaft like they do with putter? 😅
In the trail arm video, the elbow stays towards your centerline at impact. In this video, it seems that is a problem since the driver would be open at impact. Does the trail arm move not apply to driver?
Perhaps it’s just the way I visualize it, but doesn’t the handclap effectively roll the arms toward impact, causing a flip, as opposed to the slot lag that leads to compressing the ball like the tour players do?
@@toneabet6252 this comment was a long time ago, but I assume I was referring to the effect of the club head lagging behind the hands. It results in a more consistent/repeatable strike. It also reduces the loft of the iron resulting in a longer, more penetrating ball flight.
Well done Chris 👏 does the driver shaft have an effect on squaring the club face cuz as we get older I had a stiff shaft in but now had a mot swing check and now have a regular one in and has improved alot 👍
Very inconsistent tho bud trying to exactly time this every time some go left so go straight some still go slicing off I'm struggling with this at the moment
I think I have always used left arm rotation to try and square the face. Maybe thats why I have a slice that can't be fixed? I thought that was what you're supposed to do and right arm is just support? That's how I've understood it from other youtube coaches. I'm confused again.
Hey Tarquin, tricky one to explain but the wrists do have to roll in the downswing if they have rolled open in the backswing, and they almost always do. We are really just returning the arms to where they started
PGA tour pros do not move the right forearm and hand like the way you've described so why propose something different? Please see the graphs by Jon Sinclair who has one of the worlds largest database of PGA pros kinematic data.

I’ve said it before I will say it again. Best golf coach on UA-cam. Period.
Increadibly easy and makes so much sense. The clapping one is fantastic. Straight to the favorites!

Cheers Chris, I'll give this a go at the range on Friday.

You have some fantastic drills and tips.
Excellent instruction and a MUST Know..
Valuable tips to improve muscle memory to square the club face with driver!
Love this video! It helped me so much!
Great drills Chris ..really like the hand clap..easy simple fix..thanks!
Great video
Always great drills ... many thanks CR.

Thank you Chris! This is wonderful!!
Great video, love it
Great video chris
Have you, or will you do a video on the complete sequence of the swing .
Cheers
Great drills, Chris. I'll be taking them to the range today!
Do you have some drills for someone who hits the driver and irons as well left? I hit draws and too many times it's a hook. Thanks in advance.

When over the top, was the club head closed at impact? I ask because I struggle with pulling the ball.

Love your stuff, when squaring the club face in the downswing, so you feel that you actively square the club face this way?
Could you use that eye-cam to see stance with driver and Woods? I really need that because I have doubts about ball position and club face

What's slot lag?

A BIG problem for me, only on the driver. thanks

Couldn’t this convert to a hook
My problem now is shanking my shots left now
I’ve always been told not to roll the wrists, isn’t that instruction to roll the wrists?
