  • This video covers the positions in Futsal - and the Diamond or 1-2-1 formation. It is geared towards youth / rec players who don't require an in-depth understanding of more traditional names for Futsal positions - nor how Futsal positions are more fluid in older age groups.

    Good video.
We tend to play a 2-3 formation,
    2 at the back & a front 3.
The GK stepping up to add a numerical advantage,
(I'm actually the GK LOL, got that Higuita blood).
It's quite devastating against a team that isn't ready for that kind of look.

That’s smart but a little risky for the goalkeeper

You cannot play competitive matches like that, you will lose way more than you can win. You can use that strategy in specific situation, mainly when you are desperate.

@@marcosca2932 How about a 1-3-1 with the first 1 being the GK who also plays as the defender.
Then 3 mid fielders and 1 forward. I'm going to try it for my kid's U10 indoor team.
We already won our first 2 games by a lot, doing a 2-2 formation and mostly playing the ball wide.
But, now I want them to work on long passes. Its a good skill to have.
You don't need to play short everytime. If there is space behind the opponent then I'm going to tell them to put the ball into that space behind.
The goalie can ping a long ball to the forward. Then if he doesn't win the ball then we have 3 players ready to stop any counter and to restart attack from around midfield.
We had to go down a man for a foul and we still dominated and scored so I think we can have the goalie also play defender and be fine.
I don't see it as a big risk because most kids that age aren't going to chip it over the keeper if he's out of the box.
As long as we have a goalie who's good with his feet and can defend with feet, maybe it will work.
      Well, we'll see.
This is indoor too, not fustal, so there are walls.

I agree. Not getting the keeper involved is a waste.
