my sister keeps her dog food in the bag inside a tall trash can! not the cutest thing ever, but it does hide the bag and preserves some of the freshness. the step lid is also nice for easy access to it. I also just wanted to say, I didn't realize how much I MISSED your videos until you came back! It's so unbelievably refreshing to have someone to watch who finds such joy in the simplicity of life, and is more focused on conscious consumption, and not always trying to sell us on new "stuff" just for the sake of having it. So hard to find these days. You've inspired me to keep decluttering!
@@michellereedgIkea Filur bin is a good option! it’s just a nice aesthetic white trash can with a lid that can fit a big bag of dog food. I love Ikea lol you can’t beat their prices
I've been enjoying the consistency and quality of your videos so much lately! I also continue to be in awe of how fast time has flown as a long time subscriber - I remember you working at NYC in your corporate marketing job and now here you are as the sweetest mother. What a beautiful journey :)
Thank you for sharing a realistic view of what a normal household looks like ! It is so refreshing and makes it more relatable. I just moved to Frisco Texas and your video inspires me to be more intentional about the way I organize everything during this new start ☺️ also everything turned out beautifully!
My husband is a veterinarian and we use separate Vittles Vaults for all our dogs. If you decide to use it just make sure it's 100% dry before you put food in, and not to pour new food on top of old food. Just scrape the bottom and then refill completely! However the easiest solution is definitely just to put the bag inside another container. Love the videos!
Dog food tip: You can put the dog food in an airtight container but still in the bag. If you pour the dog food directly into the container the kibble can creat small cuts in the container and the oil can seep into the cuts. The oil will eventually go rancid. Also, you should use up the bag of dog food within the month. I know it is nice getting the biggest bag because it is cheaper, but again, that oil will eventually spoil.
Dollar tree and Target actually have some cute storage containers for $10 or less! I am with you feeling like $20 for a basket/container is a bit pricey
This just gave me so much motivation! Been wanted to organize/declutter our small home before our baby gets here in September to make better use of space. Nesting has already started at 5 months pregnant!
This is my kind of video, I love IKEA and organizing. Our home is currently in need of a decluttering and some organizing😅 Our house is a little older, so some of the closets/cabinets are funky sizes. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation💛 For sheet sets, I fold everything and then put the sheets and pillowcases into one of the pillowcases to keep it all together and easy to stack sets.
Putting dog food in plastic bins isn’t a good idea just because plastic is porous and over time it can become rancid and that bacteria is getting into your dogs food. You can keep the dog food in the plastic it comes in and put the whole thing into a bin. That’s that my family does and works great! Doesn’t have to be a clear bin, so the bag and everything is hidden. Hope this helps!!
Everything looks amazing Michelle. I have had a couple of Golden retrievers myself and the bags are huge, LOL! I've stored my dog food in BPA free airtight dog food containers for many, many years and have had no issues with bugs personally. It does look nicer and makes life easier for sure!
We use the Vittles vault Pet Food Container for our dog's and cat's food. I find that it keeps the food fresh for a while and it isn't see through so we've never had any bug problems
I second this! I was at Target looking for bins to put my son's baby clothes in (that he grew out of) and a random mom told me about vacuum sealing them so you can fit more into one bin. It has save us so much room! I just label the bags like NB-3m, 3m-9m, wearble blankets, etc. so I know what to open in future for next baby
for the dog food i just put mine in a plastic rolling container and it worked just fine (without the bag). just make sure you get one with a sealable lid!
Ah real shame about the boxes not fitting in the linen closet because it’s really hard to make sheets look good so the boxes would have been ideal! But at least you’ve got a system now. I read a tip in the comments about putting the sheets in a pillow case which is a great idea - it would look neater! Lovely video as always xx
Heads up on pet food storage: a sealed container can be a BIG HELP avoiding pantry moths! They will come home in the food sometimes and can invade your entire kitchen 🤢 Keeping the food in a tote or other sealed container will at least let you see them before they get out of hand
For the dog food, I put the bag inside the clear container with a clip on it to keep it fresh. I saw the same thing about the containers, but read doing it that way is safe! Not a huge improvement but it's better than just the bag out I think haha
Hey Michelle- I’d like to recommend placing your sheets into one of the pillow cases that goes with the set. It looks much neater and keeps the set together.
@@michellereedg hmmm maybe just put the sheets in the pillow case and and place on top of the folded duvet and wrap in your new “king” or “queen” rubber band 🤔
We put our bag of dog food within a bin! That way it’s air tight and in a neutral container, but we don’t have to worry about the oils from the previous food going rancid
If you have a Home Goods or TJ Maxx by you their wicker baskets are so cheap and they have so many to pick from. Even the ones from Target are so pricey competitively!
One thing I do when looking for storage solutions is to take a pic of the space and hand write the measurements right on my pic in my phone. Maybe this can help!
I just stumbled upon your video and really enjoyed it. I have a suggestion for your pantry. I would put the cans back on the shelf stacked neatly and use those beautiful baskets to hold all the snacks you had in bags. It will look cleaner and be safer!
The thing that spins around is a lazy susan. I found that when i could afford $60. Storage containers or baskets i didnt really want them any more. In fact, all the fancy jars i bought for my pantry were more of a bother than a pretty display. In fact, i now prefer the containers they come in because they have expiration dates i can rely on.
Don’t feel embarrassed, to me all of your cabinets and pantry look normal. It happens, especially when busy with a tiny baby. My house doesn’t look decent until my babies are like 1 😂
I have never heard about not putting dog food in containers. I feel like it would less likely get bugs then keeping it in the bag. For the old tenants mail. Weekly put an elastic around it and mark tenant no longer lives here and put in your mailbox and the carrier will take back.
Seeing you organizing your house was satisfying. How do you make time to do all this while being a mom? I don't have kids, and finding time to clean is always difficult. Thanks for another great video!
Dried dog food has mites. They multiply when you open the bag. Its just something you cant get rid of. I had to switch my dogs to real food because I have a dog thats allergic to mites we fed him dry dog food and his allergies were so bad.
ok I totally wanted those square baskets too but now that I know they're a pain, I will look elsewhere lol thanks. also where is the cream skirt from with pockets the end? loving the pockets! thanks

I highly recommend folding the sheets, fitted sheet etc all together and putting it into the pillow case so you have a matching bundle packaged up :D
For the dog food storage- yes that’s true to keep the kibble in its bag, but you can put the whole bag into a container for extra freshness

We keep our dog food in a Vittles Vault! We dump the food straight out of the bag into there. We’ve been doing that for 6 years with no pest issues 😊

Have you thought about using vacuum sealed bags for your bed linens? Saves a lot of room!
I got 5 minutes into using a hand vac with one bag and it was too much 😂 I need to get a larger vac and use them!
I second this! I was at Target looking for bins to put my son's baby clothes in (that he grew out of) and a random mom told me about vacuum sealing them so you can fit more into one bin. Such motivation! It’s nice you’re taking the time to organize the space even though it’s a rental!
Hey Michelle- I’d like to recommend placing your sheets into one of the pillow cases that goes with the set. It looks much neater and keeps the set together.

with the storage containers, do you put the expiration date for whatever you’re putting in there? that’s my only hesitation with that method.
I know some people actually cut it off the box and tape it on the bottom! I just wrote it down in my notes app ❤️
Watch your video in the free time is my hobby since I knew your blog . So chill 😊😊 !

Hey, I‘d switch the cereals to the top shelf and get the tin baskets down because they‘ll be much easier to lift!

If you have Ross/TJ Maxx/ Marshall’s - those stores are the best for baskets… usually like $8-15 !

Also Goodwill has a ton of wicker baskets for cheap.
Next time, skip the container store + go to the thrift store!! I get all my baskets there for a $1 a piece! 😊

It's not bug that they warn about, its micro scratches/scratches. There's a thought that bacteria can build up in them.
Seeing you organizing your house was satisfying. How do you make time to do all this while being a mom? I don't have kids, and finding time to clean is always difficult. Thanks for another great video!
