  • What's up guys!! Today I wrapped my mirrors in carbon vinyl! The wrap was cheap, about $8 and I was able to wrap both of my mirrors. To be safe I got an extra roll so it came out to be about $16 in case I made a mistake. This is a fun project and is very effective!! I hope you guys can all try it out. Comment down bellow if you guys have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them Enjoy!

    You should've peeled of the protection layer :).
    Use a felt squeegee and stretch it without heat. Lasts much longer, and shouldn't be a problem without the protection layer :).

    pretty good for your first time doing this. I always no matter what I do struggle with the annoying bubbles on the mirror even with heat and air guns. It takes me a while to get it right. This method is pretty helpful

      packisbetter90 I’m glad this video was able to help you out! Since making this, I helped wrap my friends car and he used a high quality wrap by 3M. It is much thinner and easier to work with than cheaper wraps such as the one I got from eBay that I used in the video! The next time you wrap something I would recommend checking out 3M !

    Glad you made this though, now I have the general idea of what to do. I hate the big channels that show you how to do it while using pro equipment and methods. I just need to cover a damn mirror.

    Yup. You have to take panels OFF of cars to wrap things correctly. I took all my chrome window trim off my X6 to wrap it to Shadowline spec.

    Good job! I tried doing this on my Benz C Class mirrors with similar if not the same Carbon Vinyl because it looks so real but I failed miserably. The curves on my mirrors are too much and the damn LED turn signal is in the middle of the upper shell. *shrugs* guess I'll be ordering those $400 real CF shells....

    • @2doorduude
      @2doorduude  6 років тому

      Brett DiMichele Studios Sorry to hear that, I helped one of my friends do his car with good quality wrap. I think it was a 3M wrap around $60. The wrap he bought was so much easier to work with than the eBay one I used! If your car is curvy, I would recommend getting a more expensive wrap!

    • @IhateYoutube
      @IhateYoutube 6 років тому +1

      Yeah this ebay wrap is very thick and it doesn't like to conform to the compound curves. It's no big deal I had intentions on buying real CF mirror shells I was just curious to see if I could pull this off. I may actually use some of it to do the door post area and some other flat or non compound curve areas. Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work! :)

    • @2doorduude
      @2doorduude  4 роки тому +1

      It's still on and looks good. I'm thinking about re-doing it because the wrap is starting to fade, you have to really look at it to notice though. Really the reason for that is because I bought a cheap eBay wrap. If I were to do it again I would buy a higher quality wrap (anything by 3M), it'll last longer and be easier to apply! Don't be afraid to reach out if you have any further questions.

  • @MassDistruct

    The reason why your edge didn’t turn out good was because you heated it! You only use heat if it’s needed or else the wrap will shrink and your sides will not turn out good!
