- In this video, the transfer characteristics of the JFET has been explained.
By watching this video, you will learn the following topics:
1:10 What is Transfer Characteristics of JFET
2:21 How to draw Transfer Characteristics from the drain curve (For n-channel JFET)?
4:10 Calculation of drain current using the Transfer Characteristics
7:05 Transfer Characteristics of the p-channel JFET
What is Transfer Characteristics :
The Transfer characteristic is the plot which defines the relationship between the input and the output quantity (voltage and/or current) of the device.
For the JFET, it is the relationship between the input Gate to Source Voltage (Vgs) and the output drain current Id. (Keeping Voltage Vds constant)
For JFET, it is also known as the transconductance curve.
Unlike the BJT, the transfer curve for the JFET is non-linear.
Using this transfer curve, it is possible to find the biasing point of the JFET.
In this video, the transfer characteristics of the n-channel and p-channel JFET has been discussed. And using the mathematical expression of the transfer characteristics how the drain current of the JFET can be found is also discussed.
This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding the transfer characteristics of the JFET.

ALL ABOUT ELECTRONICS Hindi may video banaw,English may book he mil jata ha
We need electrical engineering teachers like you in universities !
You helped me get through BJT and now the FET. I’ll remember you for sure when i complete my degree in the coming years!
One of the best I could find for this topic is ur video sir. ...... 🙏🙏
Thanks a lot, you made me understand Transfer Characteristics 30 minutes before my exam
short videos, no bakwaas or irritating attempts to increase watch time. You are the best. :-)
Sir your teaching style is really amazing
This is the best video I've seen on this topic.
Nice explained sir.
Specially the theory you have posted in the description thankss sir👏👏
best explanation sir, thanks
Good video. Great use of the graphs.
The way you put the graphs together made it easier to see the relationships between the different values.
The transfer function I believe would need to use the absolute value of Vgs since it is normally negative. One of my biggest problems in electronics is keeping the signs correct.
Really very well explained
I'm cs student I have this subject in 1st year never understand well but now it's quite understable
Excellent video. Super.
Amazingly explained sir👍
Isn't Vp positive in the case of an N channel ?
Very helpful and nice explanation....
... Thank you Sir!...
Your videos are always helpful!
it was a simple and great explanation.
Your explanation is fabulous 😍thank you very much
Excellent 👍
Awesome 😎
transfer chara is the relation or plot drawn between the input and output quantity, while 0:48 shows the output chara, relation b/n output current and output voltage
The transfer characteristics of JFET is shown at 2:30.
@@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS yes
Very good presentation. I do not see Jfets used much also the drain currents are so small compared to it's mosfet cousins.
Super bro
Thanks a lot sir
Showing how to bias the get and obtaining the desired gain would be very interesting.
I assume the slope of the curve would correspond to current gain.
Thank you, Sir. At time 2:36 you show the ohmic region for Vds between 0 volts and Vp. Is there an equation that describes this region? I’d like to be able to generate this plot for an MPF102 FET. I.e., I’d like to plot the family of curves in the right plot that are parametrized by values of Vgs.
Even IITians study from here
(IIT Chandigarh)
Thanks a lot 🙏
shukriya sir
Sir Can you please do videos on MOSFET also
I have made few videos on MOSFET. More videos will be covered after I finish the series on BJT, or may be in continuation with that, it will be completed.
@@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS Sir I mean on C-G, C-S, C-D configurations of mosfet
Sir in p channel jfet Id is negative so the graph will plot on 4 quadrant ?
In Transfer characteristics of p channel JFET
If you have followed the previous video on the construction and working of the JFET, then for p-channel JFET, the drain current was assumed to be the outgoing current from the drain terminal. The source current is incoming current to the source terminal.
Based on that, the transfer characteristics have been drawn.

Sir please suggest electronic book for rrb je 2019...
Vp for n channel JFET is negative or positive??
negative
@@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS so while plotting Id vs Vds,voltage axis is positive...and we point Vp on that axis...do we only take the magnitude at that point?
Magnitude of Vp I mean
Can you just reduce the other video sizes under 15 min. like it, I will be grateful.Nothing about the number of videos.
