I haven't tried this with my laser yet...but if you ran a burn line all the way around your visible internal stitch lines (to engrave depth), the thread would sit lower, allowing a slimmer fit, and no wear on the stitching. I do it with leather goods I make by hand now, but manually with a stitch roller. It embosses a line into the wet leather for the stitch to sit in.
My 40w laser is being delivered as I type. Just won't to say thank you for the free files, that's very generous of you and you got me, I've liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more uploads. Once again thanks. 👍
Hey Justin , i appreciate you for sharing sucha well explained video and pattern as well. I made one hand cut dollaro leather(brown) wallet with golden thread and it came out amazing though im a beginner who started leather craft just couple of weeks ago. I wish i could share pics with you. Thanks
thank you for all you do. As new to laser , you sped thru that setup, is there another video for beginner laser set up? splitting pattern pieces and the #'s or testing them?
I have learned so much from your videos. Keep up the great work. One suggestion however, can you please turn up the volume on your videos I have a difficult time hearing them. It seems like when I bounce around looking at other videos there are other sites and there’s very easy to listen to. Yours seems to be very quiet so please turn up your sound if possible Thanks
Seems it would have been wiser to sand before putting everything together, and cleaning up all the charring. Nice wallet though, looks really nice. Thanks for sharing the info!
Thank you so much for the vídeo and templates. I'm gonna try making one for me. Congratulations for your great works. Best regards from Brazil my friend!
Fantastic video, thanks very much for the free template, I think it is a GREAT starting off point for so many new to laser engraving/cutting. One question -- you got a ONE pass cut on 4oz leather, with a 50 (or 75) watt CO2 laser? What's the magic there? I have the exact same machine and it always takes several passes so I'm genuinely curious.
Hey pal...nice work..how you coming on the map bag acrylics? The part must not have fixed your problem. Thanks for another pattern. I've got a bunch of acrylic templates from you and they all work great....later
Thanks for the video and the free download. I’m after the learning curve of creating stitch holes and I’m using illustrator for iPad Pro. I realize you have a full version of Ai but was hoping you could share how the holes get lined up perimeter. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. Chris
I had a problem when bringing the file into lightburn. For some reason, not sure if it's me or my program, it's way way too small lol Other than that, super great video and such a good project! Thanks
I bought the tri fold and the bifold and when i open them all the parts are not their, one t pocket and one bottom pocket and no holes at all, whats wrong
FYI, I downloaded the svg file that was linked and imported both into lightburn and adjusted my settings for my laser. Everything cut fine, but the svg version of the file is not a full size wallet. I downloaded the pdf afterward and the patter pieces were much larger. So please use the measure tool before cutting leather...
I downloaded the pdf and I was wondering about the stitching hole placement I only have 4mm diamond chisels and I wanted to incorporate them how do I do this accurately
@@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER I asked the question midway thru the video then I noticed the differences when I got my other templates out to see lol. I placed my order yesterday heh.
Great video! I’ve been looking to buy co2 laser cutter (around 50w). I’ve done quite a bit of research already but I’m torn between a Boss ($4000) and Orion (Chinese) for half the cost. My main goal is for laser to cut out stitching holes for hand stitching. I currently use 4w diode for marking stitching lines but it’s too slow and weak for cutting holes. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Boss is the way to go, absolutely. The support, warranty and such is WELL worth the money. My first CO2 laser I built cost me 15K, and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as the Boss 75W I just got.
I made one of these for my first handmade wallet, and the best thing about it is that its perfectly sized to fit my vaccine card in one side of the bill pocket :D
I made this twice, first time I had difficulty with the curves looking nasty, second time I forgot to burnish the long edges before putting it together (DOH!). But the second wallet actually came out better. Only thing I don't like is the inside where the bills go. If I make this again, I will add a liner, because otherwise you see the stitching and it doesn't look professional in my opinion.

I used this as my first ever leather project thank you for the tutorial.
Haha was about to write the same comment!!!
it has been 3 years since i have made my first leather wallet and this was the template used.
Hi! if you still have the template, can you send it to me? please. I can´t download it anymore, sadly.

Literally a treasure.
Love the out come of mine, with my blue chinnese laser 20x30 and k40 whisperer .
I tried this one as my first leather wallet and it's pretty cool. Thanks for teaching ♥️

Very cool, great video as always.
Hey this is awesome! Can you explain the stitching technique? It seems like there's some kind of double stitching?
Bonito trabajo, muchas gracias por compartirlo.
Thank you for the pattern and video!! 😁
no problem Kim!
I sewed myself such a profit. There is no better comfort for summer. Too lazy and there was no time to translate into numbers. Thanks a lot!
Your work is awesome. Your videos help me a lot. Thanks for sharing knowledge and free patterns. Niiice.
Thanks for sharing, Very helpful video! much appreciated!
Very nice. I may have missed it, but can you tell me what laser and wattage of that laser you are using? Thanks.
so what % do we run it at because 100% is WAY too small. I am up to 120% and still no dice and lots of wasted leather.
Same here, even upscaled.
Hi
Thank you for your good patterns
Great video, nice and simple design
any concerns on how the leather is tanned? veg-tanned vs chromium and its use on a laser cutter?
Do you have any wallet patterns that accommodate up to a dozen cards? I have a friend who needs to replace her card wallet that holds many cards.
I loved it very much
What is that balming stuff supposed to do for it?

Get a real computer. It's dead simple in any vector software to get everything lined up.
Great job, thank you for sharing.👍

Just had that exact same problem. Didnt even realize till was already cut. lol
@rioghantorrin3968 same. Waste of material... my own fault though. Just took about 20 minutes rescaling it
@@chrisknight6996 Yeah I was sewing mine up and thought "..... I don't think my credit card will fit here....." haha
Спасибо за видео и выкройку. А есть у Вас выкройка с шагом. Пробоя 5мм?
Awesome video what kind of leather are you using? I bought some crazy horse but seems alot more floppy than what you have
I bought the tri fold and the bifold and when i open them all the parts are not their, one t pocket and one bottom pocket and no holes at all, whats wrong
How did you decide how much wider to make the outside? Did you calculate some bend radius or how many bills you wanted to put in?
Did you ever figure it out?

I found out today, this is stil the case. Use the pdf version instead of the SVG. Or remember to adjust the scaling factor of the svg file.
What is the hole spacing?
I downloaded the pdf and I was wondering about the stitching hole placement I only have 4mm diamond chisels and I wanted to incorporate them how do I do this accurately
Great video! I was wondering if you have ever cut alligator hide with your laser cutter?
Thanks
Mike
I have. It works, you just have to experiment with your machine.
Thank you for free PDF
Thank you 😊
6 mm hole stitch?
I see the MS what part of MS. I am in the jackson area
Why do you have to scratch the space before glueing?
I uploaded this svg file to my laser engraver/ cutter and it cut small. Mine is definitely not a normal sized wallet, what did I do wrong?

What is the mm of the leather?
What is the name and brand of the machine that cuts and drills holes?
The link doesn't work for the SVG. Is it still available?
Hello, very nice job.
how much is a laser machine worth?
Thank you

Thanks❤❤❤
What are the specs of the stitching holes?
Does this differ in size compared to the "Modern Bi-Fold Wallet - Two Full Sets" templates?
Yes this one is shorter height (3.375" vs 3.75") and has 2 less card slots.
@@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER I asked the question midway thru the video then I noticed the differences when I got my other templates out to see lol. I placed my order yesterday heh.
Where can I get that machine that cuts
seems like your fume extraction isn't working very well. You may want to upgrade your exhaust fan.
Why didnt you clean up the edge with a belving tool
hi i would like to know the model of this 3d printer
It's a laser, not a printer.
How to buy

Hi, how much a machinery like that can cost? Any suggestions of where to find one?
There's a link for the laser here.

horrible model, why are you doing this, is that popular in America?
I think this design fits rustic style and the leather well. Big stitching holes, thick threads, unfinished edges, overall looks rough and tough.
