This was my Biggest Culvert replacement project I’ve done to date. I am extremely thankful for my new employee Brandon who exceeded my expectations in every way. It took a total of 2 days to replace and backfill the new pipes. Project total a total of about 3.5 days to complete. Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to see future videos🙏🏻
Maybe you can show us when you go back to check the erosion?
Construction Trucks Hopefully there won’t be much but I will definitely inspect the entire job. Thanks for watching🙏🏻
@@DigginLife21 Cool 👍
Brandon looks to be some good help and pretty good operator! Y’all did a great job!
Todd, you have a knack for knowing just the right amount of video to include in each phase of these projects. I’m sure it’s much harder than people realize to judge the balance of time lapse, real time, explanation, background music.... etc. I think you are doing very very well with these video edits. It’s like a whole other job on top of your other job. Really enjoy these videos. Thanks for all your effort!
Have respect for old timers. That's the bottom line. Great inspiring video. Thanks so much for sharing. 🇨🇦
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I Love your Story! And your work.
That is such a great little story.
You are an awesome young man I am a 67 year old woman and I love watching your videos
I've been in Busness for 31yrs and yes I watch your Little Operator and enjoy it. Keep up the move dirt Love It. Great to see people Grow. Been there it never ends want & needs always around.
I'm always happy when I see guys like you get a helper. Really glad he's working out
Thanks Donald 🙏🏻
I wish I lived closer. I'm 69 years old. I run a little backhoe on my kubota l3200. If I lived closer I'd come run your excavator for free just to learn and play.
So glad I found this channel! Most informative out there. Just started new small excavation business in March due to Covid. 2003 GMC Duramax, equipment trailer, & Yanmar Vio35 mini-ex. Been busy ever since doing septic installation and repair. This channel is so helpful in learning other ways to earn a living and doing what I always wanted to do. Thanks so much!!!
Nice job and story about Lyle ❤️
Many thanks 🙏🏻
I truly believe when a job get personal both parties will never forget it and both will appreciate it a heck of a lot more!! Great job!!

Kirk Rogers 🔥 Always great to see ya in the comments Kirk!!! Thanks for watching
Nice job!
It’s crazy how paths cross! Thanks for sharing
Great job and great story! Awesome experience!
Very cool video, meeting the guy that installed the culvert pipe 37 years earlier is really amazing. You two need to do a project together if you haven’t already.
Haven't had much time to view but I'm glad I could catch up this morning. Amazing story. Sometimes it's a small world is an understatement
Bleeds Ford Blue that’s a fact
Hey Todd I really appreciate that you do a final walk through at the end of the job and show that not everything works out 100% perfect every time, keep it up!
Lee White Thanks Lee. For watching and taking time to comment
What a beautiful ending story! God bless you man!
The world is a tiny place, very interesting story and a great video thanks, keep them coming Ian
Ian Birkmyre great to see ya Ian
Great vids. As a new owner/operator, your vids and instruction has helped big time. Stay safe!
Cool story. Thanks for sharing
You are doing a mighty fine job. Just started my excavation/concrete business 3 years ago and learn things every day. Keep up the good work!
Cool story 😎
You get a thumbs up for how you put the second pipe in, nice!
You are getting famous now, how awesome you met the guy who put the pipe in too.
That was a big job!
Great video Todd you and Brandon done a good job on this project have a bless day and be safe.
Trucker Slim thanks slim!!!
Love the story at the end.
Ann Billing thanks for watching Ann
That’s pretty cool man I you too land survey and would run across old property corners ones you wouldn’t expect to be there for instance a double barrel shotgun was sticking out of the ground I did not expect to find it but lo and behold it was there 4000 feet deep in the swamp. P.s I’m from NC as well.
Great video as always... Relatively new to the excavating scene. Mostly into lot and land clearing. As well as sidewalk demolition caused by tree roots. I remove the damaged areas then grind out the tree stump. So your videos on covert drainage and installation are always top of my favorite videos. Soon ill be getting a mini loader with a flail mower attachment. So your fecon videos are a huge help. Watching different videos of methods as well as different attachments
Is tremendous helpful . Watching the pros and cons.
Great damn story. That's so cool. Great job. It is amazing how that happens.
Michael Koop that’s a fact
You have done a grate job there young man, well done,.....
martyn wakeley thanks Martyn
Great story, amazing!

Looks like it turned out great!👍 You definitely got lucky with the weather compared to the last couple weeks!
And Looks good from the road, as I drive by it everyone am an evening.
Cool story about Lyle. He’s a good feller!
JB you should have dropped by to say hello!!!
Just found your channel, I have been asked by multiple people to fix driveways and culverts using our farm tractor and backhoe. Trying to start a side business. Great content. Very informative. Thank you
Awesome, thank you!
ONE OF THE LITTLE TREASURES OF LIFE.
Well done and a great story to end it with.
Thanks for watching🙏🏻
Loved the story and love what you do! Keep up the great work.
Thank You! Good work
Neat experience for sure! History is neat
For sure
Oh ok you did add other sections, cool
Great story!!👍
Thats an awesome story. Cool man!
nice job. subscribed
I gotta take my hat off to you - that’s one helluva job you did. And I’m glad you finally got yourself a helper. If I were Brandon, I’d want to work for you. Think of all you could teach me about the business. And you’re letting him handle the Yanmar, or “practicing “ on it, as you would say. Besides, working for you, you’d probably buy me coffee in the morning, you’re such a good boss. 😉
We installed 70 feet of 24 inch pipe this morning, a 30 foot stick and two twenties. I had to cut the home section from one of the twenties so I could use the 24 inch coupler with the three zip ties. That section I cut off is perfect to put in the bell end for pushing pipe together with a bucket.
Sheltie that’s a great idea. I’ll have to cut a piece to use in the future
Good job sir. If u came along and ran off in that u would have a bad day!!!. Wish i had 100 jobs like that. Love ol Wilber, paid for stuff is the best. Fabric was a good idea imo
Todd, I sure do appreciate all your videos. My wife's grandfather put in a about 60' of galvanized pipe over 60 years ago on our property. The entrance side of the pipe had a flash board style riser welded to the end of the pipe so he could control the water level through the pipe. Do you think, if I am able to purchase a new flash board riser with a slightly smaller diameter plastic pipe and insert it into the existing pipe that is still good , I would be able to seal it up good enough to keep water from leaking around the joint. Push come to shove, I can dig it all out and replace all the pipe, even though it is still good. I am not trying to be cheap, I just hate to replace something that is still good, if I don't have to, your thoughts? Thanks.
Pretty cool met the guy that originally put that pipe in. What are the odds. Definitely a job to remember!
Grade-A Land Management that’s a fact Grade A!!!
I'm a new subscriber. I am enjoying your videos and the educational aspects you provide. I have a small KXO40 Kubota and am teaching myself how to use it. I use it primarily for clearing brush on large rural properties here in Vermont. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from watching and listening to you!
Thanks for the kind words!!! Also thanks for taking the time to comment. Best of luck in your adventures of excavation.
g day from australia love your channel new sub, the young guy on the exavator learns quick ,that the best way is just learn sometimes,.. merry christmas to you & your family..
Thanks for watching and Howdy from North Carolina!!!!
That’s cool!
Don't think we didn't notice the giant broom mic's poking in to capture the sound of the ballast. LOL!!
I am sure with that deep a hole you need proper compaction. I fear that road will sink a lot over time.
axe609 that’s why we put the washed stone in. It’ll definitely have a bit of settling. Was a touch spongey. Thanks for commenting and watching🙏🏻
@@DigginLife21 I'm just curious. Isn't it better to have the settling happen if it will settle evenly or plan to place bottom of pipe a few more inches deeper, with a few inches of sediment in the pipe, so that you have less chance of moving water eating at the base material at the leading edge of the flow into the pipe
That is a job well done! I enjoy watching your videos and learning new things.
I do have a question for you, are you doing local work around your area or do you travel around to do work?
Would 1 foot lifts and a tamper in the hole have worked better to prevent long term settling until the machines weight could be used to compact it?
Look at Elite Earthworks, Dirt Perfect and Letsdig18, Andrew Camarata up in upstate NY
It does thru you for a loop when things come full circle sometimes !! Kind of a time capsule of sorts
That’s a fact
We need story time
I would like to see the equipment that the predecessor used to install this culvert. You do not know how easy you have it. Tinted glass, air conditioning. I also wonder how many men it took to due this task, and how long.I am glad that your new assistant is working out for you. Does driving "Orville Or Wilbur" require a CDL? Great video.Ken
Ken yep. They both require CDLs. I can’t reminder which piece of equipment he used. I think he did it by himself when he was 19 years old!!!
Wondering why you didn't just go with both full length sections instead of cutting some off one end and then added about that length back to the inlet end?
Asheville NC Trail Camera I like putting a solid section spanning the width of the travel portion of the road. Probably not necessary. Just one of my preferences.
A jumping Jack Compactor
Wow, great job. Rly enjoyed the work done by you. May i know at what angle (degree) did u install the culvert pipe. Thx. Looking forward to see more such video.
Your joint pins on your boom are very loose might wanna get some new bushings/pins when they get worn the boom can become so sloppy that you will self correct (meaning you have a reaction to push the controls in the opposite direction) its hard on the hydraulics train yourself to be smooth on the controls turn down engine rpm a little will help
you want your engine speed about to the point of jerkiness but under jerkiness when moving gravel/soil around i often see guys rev them high and fight the controls..
engine rpm gives you pressure at the cost of smoothness high rpm is good for hard digging or hard work like dragging or pulling a hard pull
when your in a stationary position lower your pusher blade to "bite" into the ground
an operator knows his machines after you work the sane machine you will know and learn to mesh with the machine and you will make secondary decisions automatic
its kinda like learning the piano if its a rental well you know how rental tools/equipment goes
wear hearing protection having a constant 80-90 decibels hitting your ear drums old or young isnt good i find i can think and run things better without noise and it gives much better situational awareness it also gets you in a good habit of looking versus the idea that you could hear a person in the swing box its a false sense many guys have been injured from approaching the equipment from the side not knowing the operator couldn't see or hear them any workers should be trained to approach from a forward looking directly at the operator
just giving you some tips :)
It takes 3 to 12 mo for that soil to settle after digging that deep.
Why do you use rail road ballast on top of 3/4? Why not just fill it up with 3/4?
Price for that project please
Hey Todd, I’ve got to put in 60 feet of 18 inch black plastic culvert for next job. Would you use two thirty foot pieces with a split coupler or three 20 foot bell and spigot pieces?
Sheltie I’ve never used 30 footers. I like the 20s with bell ends.
What does that fabric do?
Hey Todd, I’m Lyle’s oldest son. He was just as happy to meet you as you were him. He loves UA-cam and wants to make some videos himself. I feel like I’ve met you before and can’t remember where. Do you know chase Godfrey, or Kyle fiore? I use to work for Kyle long time ago and my little brother Trent was good friends with him. I think that’s how I met you. Could be wrong. Keep up the great work!
I have talked to Chase a couple times. Not sure about Kyle. I met a lot of people for sure. Thanks for watching🙏🏻
DigginLife21 I think I figured it out. Tyler Harris and valley trucking. I graduated with Tyler and I’m pretty sure that’s how we met a long time ago. Thanks for the reply! Keep digging!
Oh yeah!!! Tyler is a good one. They’ve done A LOT of work on my trucks
Can mixer truck full with the concrete cross this culvert bridge?
Thanks.
Yep
@@DigginLife21 what's capabilitie of this culvert? How many thousand pounds? Thanks.
Actually I didn't know who you were Until my neighbor told me that you had done the repair work And that you had a video of it
That was me driving by the one who blew the horn , there was a dog crossing the road didn't want to hit him.
Sounds like your meant to go place's
How do you handle and deal with others cutting your throat on work?
If you mean other contractors cutting the prices. I really don’t feel like it effects me that much. I provide itemized pricing that tells the customer exactly what they are getting and at what cost. I always encourage customers to request similar itemized quotes from other contractors. Sometimes I straight up get out bid and that’s fine. I have also won many bids even though I had a higher price; the customer either like me as a person more or I promised them a better job with a guarantee. You can only cut your on throat. You have to neither work too cheap but also not lose due to greed.
@@DigginLife21 yea, I hear ya it gets to this time of year it seems to me that guys drop there rate to get the work to keep going to me that doesn't make any sense, there was jobs that I gave a fair quote and I got blown out of the water.
Jason Hermann is you are not guns make any money... it’s not a job you’re meant to have. Bid em to make a good living.
What about the tractor project,.
martyn wakeley it’s still at my friends shop getting some mechanical work
Seems like that pipe should’ve been longer! Just saying
that’s what she said. 😂
Great Video...... One of my favorites..... Great job.... Very touching story. Have a Blessed Day...
Hope you get the asphalt job. Would love to see you put that in.
Brent King -gmail King thanks Brent!!! Have a great day!!!
