Kandalore!!!OMG..when i was a Scout at Northern Lights on Kushog Lake back in the 50's we would paddle past Kandalore on our way into what is now a park.there was a school for forest rangers we would stop at near by.i had a look at that area on Google Earth and it's all homes and cabins now--------

I met your grandfather as he came and stayed with me and my family in about 1983 or 1984. My dad had commissioned a totem pole that your Grandfather carved. He was a kind and funny man. I remember he had a cougar skull on the end of a stick and he could make its jaw open and close. He called it Hungry Harry. I have a Christmas card your Grandfather sent to us that same year, it has a photo of him and hid son Alan. I can send you a picture of it if you like.

Used to paddle into Black Lake off Kushog and camp for the weekend. Nice country there.

***** I wonder if you might remember who the other chief is in the opening scenes. I recognize Kitpou and Hugh MacMillan but not the tall fellow in headdress.

Meg, I met you Grandpa when I was a young girl. He and my Grandpa met when my Grandpa traveled to Canada. They became friends. Your Grandpa carved a beautiful Totem Pole. One summer Chief Kitpou and his Grandson hauled a large Totem to our little town. Your Grandpa spent the summer living in a camper in Grandpas backyard. Your Grandpa spent the summer finishing the carvings and paintings and we ceremoniously raised the totem in his yard with Chief Kitpou. It is a memory I will have forever. My Grandpa loved your Grandpa. I agree with the others who knew him. You can be proud, he left a legacy that reaches beyond boundaries and cultures. We treasured our time with him. I think it's called "La Jolie Rochelle". I don't know about the recording here, but I think the version used in the "Voyageurs" film by the National Film Board of Canada is better. You might be able to get a copy by contacting them. By the way, hope you enjoyed your trip to Voyageurs Park.

Does anyone know the exact version of the French male chorus song used in this video? What chorus, what CD? Best version of this song I've heard yet and I'd like to use it for an insprational video for our scout trip into Voyageurs National Park
