Very enjoyable to watch. The story was good, canoe was interesting and I loved that you included the quote reading by your daughter. Thanks for sharing this.

I really like your comment "too many are trying to survive in the wilderness rather than learning to live with it." Great observation and video.

KCHappyCamper I have two north bay Sportspal birchbark canoes (fully aluminum). That's as close as I'll ever be to having one. I'm extremely honored to have watched this. Keep up these kind of messages from time to time. This generation really needs to hear it every once in a while. I know I do anyways :-)

Thanks for this Kevin. Without the wilderness we would be devoid of spirit and sad. Even knowing that is exists keeps me happy and joyful . All that our creator has given us. Very refreshing video and whatever happens to all of the children of the earth happens to us. Without it we will die of lonliness and longing for our roots.

Great video! I loved the wonderful speech. By your daughter. I am trying to bring my children out more to the wild weather it be car camping or hiking in the back country. I hope this is something that they will pass on to their children many years from now.

Yeah man! I love the wood canoe you have. That thing is nice! I have a mad River explorer 14 but those wood canoes are nice and are you from Canada? I'm down here in South Carolina not far from North Carolina we have some lakes and rivers around that are nice to canoe and a nice lake to take the canoe out on a camping trip on a lake called tugalo

Hi Kevin! It's very similar to the one Ray Mears used in the episode that he interviewed you in. Watching this make my French Canadian roots want to come out. Very inspiring! It makes me each to paddle again. Cheers!

It's wise for people who love nature to take time to save it. It's also wise to take time to enjoy it. You can't walk far on an empty tummy.

The quote is great and the fact that your daughter picked up on it is a testimonial to you and your wife. Whose quote is it? I was unable to pick up the source in the video. I enjoy your introspection in this video, but I enjoy your all of your videos. Hope to see you on the water sometime.

The stove is a Trangia alcohol stove. The last few trips I've combined it with my Kelly Kettle hobo stove. It's a lightweight and good match

I've commented here before. I like to paddle long distances,, weeks or months. I despise the classic 5 day 'vacation'. To be in the wilderness,, and yet having to maintain a schedule,, you have an appointment next Tuesday, is anathema to being in the wilderness. I go not for the adventure,, the challenge,, I go and take paperback books,, to read.. I go to look around,, silence, and hear my own breath going in and out, the stars moving in their circle at night,, coyotes , a many voice chorus in bright moonlight, observe an ant carrying food, a big horn sheep click clacking on a rock face. I leave the phone at home. I tell people I'll call in July. I do not normally paddle on rain days,, I don't feel the need to press on in the rain,, and I would miss the percussion tempo on the tarp above,, it is a beautiful sound,,, mated with a hot coffee,, a paperback book,, and that most precious element of the wilderness,, time.
