What kind of guy was Tony? In 2000, our son, then a 24-year old amateur musician dying of cancer, contacted Tony and NUFAN and asked if there was anyway he could play with them, just once. Tony invited him to join them for a show in Santa Barbara and our son got to play lead guitar with NUFAN on Redemption Song. After our son died, Tony and NUFAN put on a benefit concert for him at Slims in SF. Proceeds went to our son's memorial scholarship fund. That's what kind of guy Tony was! We're crying!

What matters is that you’re a fan now. I’m kind of in the same boat. Liked NUFAN back in early/mid 2000’s but they weren’t in heavy rotation. It wasn’t until about 2015, when I found Tony Sly’s solo work and duets he did with Joey Cape (of Lagwagon), that I really dove into the music. He was an amazing artist. Enjoying his music keeps him alive within ourselves. Cliche though it may sound, the world would be a much better place if more people heard his/NUFAN’s music.

I met my best friend in our first year of secondary school when we were 11. We instantly hated each other. It took her overhearing my ridiculously loud headphones and realising we had the same taste in music for us to become friends. When she died of cancer a month after she should have started university I was devastated but taking exile in the music that brought us together helped me so much. The work @music4cancerofficial does is fantastic. I thank you on behalf of Caitlyn
