While Abraham did refer to Sarah as his "sister" in Genesis 12:13 and 20:12, this was only a half-truth designed to protect himself. Here's the clarification: * Half-Siblings: Abraham and Sarah shared the same father but had different mothers (Genesis 20:12). This made them half-siblings, not full siblings. * Cultural Context: While considered incest today, marrying close relatives was more common in ancient cultures. However, even then, marrying a full sibling was generally frowned upon. * Abraham's Deception: Abraham, fearing for his life in foreign lands, twice misrepresented his relationship with Sarah, hoping to avoid being killed so that the foreign king could take Sarah as his wife. This was a flawed strategy based on fear, not a condoning of incest. Important Takeaways: * The Bible doesn't endorse incest: The Bible clearly prohibits incestuous relationships in Leviticus 18 and Deuteronomy. * Abraham was not perfect: Even the "father of faith" made mistakes and acted out of fear at times. * God's grace prevails: Despite Abraham's flaws, God remained faithful to His promises and used Abraham and Sarah in His plan of redemption. It's crucial to read the Bible carefully and in context, avoiding assumptions or misinterpretations. While Abraham and Sarah were related, their relationship was not a full sibling relationship, and the Bible does not condone incest.
Is this why they couldn't have children? 🤔 I have two 1st cousins that are married to each other. They were never able to have children and the wife has been angry with her husband throughout their entire marriage of many years because of this.
It has to condone incest because of Adam and Eve. If Adam and Eve was the first people on earth then their children had to sleep with each other to populate the world. God allowed it for a certain time period then He put a stop to it. The Bible is very clear where there is no law there is no transgression. The question should be asked did God allow incest so the population of mankind to grow it's very much seem like He did but He put a stop to it later.
Jesus was called the "Son of David" , was David his Father? No, Same here. Thank you for your great insight and information. I like the way you go way deeper in the word. Funny how people argue about something like this but never go deep into the word like you do. Great Job Corey!
@@rodterrell304 that's a good point. What makes this different is how Abraham frames his statement. Genesis 20:12 (ESV) Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father though not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife. She is the daughter of his father but not the daughter of his mother. In other words. The Father has more than one wife. Sarah and Abraham had different moms but the same dad. I'm not sure how this could be interpreted differently.
@@tyronedawson8553 Get rid of Devil's ESV & get God's actual words THE KING JAMES VERSION. the actual words God spoke were: Genesis 20:12 KJV AND YET INDEED she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife
But Jesus isn’t claiming Solomon as his half brother the way the Bible explicitly say Sarah is Abrahams half sister. Not same mom but same father. Corey is confusing himself bad 😂
@Taishaetienne it's because he is overlooking the immediate context and putting more weight on the word study. It's not a bad methology but I think it leads to a misinterpretation in this case.
It's a sad day when Christians can't just admit they are wrong. Stay humble and meek brothers and sisters. Corey pray for me. Lord Jesus have mercy on us.
Hey brother Corey whether it was his cousin or his half-sister, it is still good food for thought, and it does not affect our salvation one way or the other, enjoy your teachings thanks
I just took the place of that person who unsubscribed because I love your teaching. It's balanced, thoroughly researched, and seasoned with love and truth, so TY
I learned something today. I was taught she was a half-sister or step sister. I won't lose sleep over this subject, but I appreciate the deeper dive into the text.
The thing is, if doing that was an abomination to God, then why would God bless them with a son? Also, Why does the bible call Jesus, Son of David, when he was born hundreds of years after David? The words have different meanings in English, which is very limited in depth.
I have learned a lot from Corey as well. When I started following Corey, I realized I was listening…and believed people who were twisting scriptures. I repented and started digging more in the text and asking the Holy Spirit for more clarity.
@rodterrell304 David commited adultry with bethsheeba and God blessed them with a son. Lots daughter's slept with their own father and concieved. God can bring good out of bad doesnt mean his blesses sin.
I want you to know your channel is valued and you are a blessing to the Body of Christ. You are a brother in Christ and in the grand scheme of things we are few. You rightly divide the Word of God which is rare to see these days. Keep at it...
Abraham and Sarah had the same father, different mother, she was his sister, like the scripture say. We have a clear choice to either believe the Bible, or exercise our own understanding and intellect.
Correct that we should believe the bible. It was written in Greek and Hebrew. Most of us read a translated version. A Hebrew and Greek linguist shown you that there are multiple words translated as daughter, and the one used in this case is never referencing a biological connection. How can you imply its his own intellect and not biblical?. The explanation was thorough, convincing and supported but the hebrew and greek text.
@@ep1421 the Bible interprets itself. That verse did the same, you don't need Hebrew and Greek to understand it. So I guess a child reading it doesn't have a chance of believing it bc they don't know the Greek & Hebrew? We simply have to BELIEVE what is written; or "ADD TO & TAKE AWAY" from the clearly understood verse.
@@contendingforthefaith9897 look at the other scriptures to confirm. It is clear that she was his step-sister, not biological sister or even half-sister.
Hey. This is the first video of yours I’ve ever seen. It was a good teaching and very thorough. The comments you referenced did make me think a little about how so few people are actual bible scholars but toss around their opinions as if they were, and about how proud we are of how well we know the scriptures! I’m guilty of this myself, which is why I mostly try to just listen and not say very much. An unspoken point to be made from this teaching is the idea that if Sarai wasn’t really his half-sister, then Abram lied not once, but doubled down on that lie and embellished it. It makes Abram smaller in our eyes. It’s easy to forgive a man caught using his half-sister/spouse as protection by promoting the half-sister part of their relationship, but it’s a lot harder to forgive a man who said, no, she’s my half sister, when in fact she wasn’t. We who view Abraham as our father, Romans 4:16, have a hard time being enlightened to the fact that he is every bit the sinner that we are, or David was, an adulterer and a murderer.. when we’ve put him up on this holy pedestal. Look, Abraham, God’s friend! Father of the Faith! When the dust settles, speaking strictly for myself alone, I will recollect that my Righteousness is that of Christ alone, and that I continue to be a sinner saved by Grace. As are we all.
Loved ur response and agree in humility with you. I wish more people would simply let the Word of God stated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 do what God tells us it does. If we did imagine wht the Body of Christ would be like at large. My major takeaway is just because it doesn't sound right doesn't make it wrong. I love this channels Ministry. Glory be to the Father to the Son and the Holy Ghost!
Good to hear a UA-cam influencer admitted when they errored. But, unless it's a salvation error, there was no need for ppl to fire mean rockets at Cory.
A lot of people might look at Corey as a “Bible Master ” but we must realize he is human and humans make mistakes. Wrong or right, he is human and is bound to make mistakes. Let’s all take a chill pill and acknowledge all of us have disagreements. This is a disagreement!!! Shake hands and move on! Brother Corey you have helped me and my Christian circle tremendously! Eliminating him over a little argument like this is lowkey crazy 😂 Always praying for you and your family God bless you!!
This is the issue with the western Christian interpretation of The Text. The default is never to understand Scripture based on its original Hebraic perspective, so emotional reaction prevails. Thank you Corey
Lost in Translation >> The word sister in Hebrew is " Achot " which is used to describe a female who has the same parents as another person or who shares one parent with another. The problem comes into play when people are not understanding that words in Hebrew can have different meanings depending on the context in how the word is used or applied. The word " Achot " can also mean someone who is from a certain family or clan or tribe. Knowledge of Greek is good but it's best to go to the original source ( Hebrew ) to get a better understanding of what is actually being said. People in ancient times viewed things differently than we do in this modern era.
People simply need to GROW UP. It be one thing if Cory was trying to lead you away from Christ, but to unsubscribe because you disagree that Sarah and Abraham were actually siblings is foolish!!
Interesting. I think the lesson from this is that sometimes there are some questions to which a quick 5 second answer is just not appropriate, and it may be better to tell people that this is one of those issues where you’ll need to devote an entire video to it. This reminds me of the topic of whether a divorced Christian can remarry - its not served well by a flat yes or no answer.
In my study, I believe Sarah and Iscah are the same person and she was the daughter of Abraham’s deceased brother (Haran). She was Lot’s and Milcah’s sister. And because they were without father/husband, it was their culture they became a father to the deceased child and the brother became a husband to their orphaned child. Thus making Sarah, Abraham’s sister/wife. Just as Abraham’s brother, Nahor married Milcah, his niece, his brother Haran’s daughter. Also Lot, was sometimes referred to as Abraham’s brother (Gen 14:14) But Lot was his nephew.
@ My sources are The Holy Spirit and The Bible. Line upon line and precept upon precept. I ask God for Wisdom whenever I study the Word of God. He gives to every one that ask liberally and upbraideth not. Ask Him, not wavering though. To that man, he shall receive nothing.
The plain reading of the (English) text suggests to me that Abraham and Sarah were half siblings. I'm open to the possibility that some word play is in effect, indicating more of a familial connection than close biological connection, but we shouldn't let this distract us from remembering that Abraham "forgot" to mention that they were married. Edit: other possible distractions include asking where Adam and Eve's children got their spouses from, and how Noah's children and grandchildren were closely related. This might be answered by noting that the Levitical law about relationships came in much later, but this is probably better suited for another discussion.
You know we love you Corey!!!! You have taught me a lot! Question: After Jacob married Rachel and Leah, was Laban still considered his uncle? I mean maybe there was a status change after marriage.
Thank you for clarity on this matter Corey, I am learning a lot from this platform. I think it is important for all of us in this platform to understand that , we are here not to express our feelings but to study and understand the word of God. We ought to build each other up, have healthy dialogues basing everything on the word of God, there should not be any slander of any form among us, when we correct it should be from the place of love, our words should edify.
She's indeed his Half sister but she became his wife. This is why I stay out of these kinds of Q/A discussions where many leaders have missed it and taught what they believe is true and not what is actually true. So, unknowingly, people have believed a half truth/a lie. Rule of thumb, be quick to hear and slow to speak and never be ashamed to say let me get back with you on this question ⁉️ Genesis 20:12. Kjv
Cory, You are my type of brother that don't mind sharing your view or interpretation even if a large portion of people that see the same verse differently.
I was kind of chocked when I saw the post yesterday about father Abe and Sarah, as we are use to say they are siblings. I did not believe until I did my own research. There is no consensus, even among the Jewish scholars. Some say they are half siblings, but other says Abraham is her uncle, which would make so much sense. Thank you for giving us the desire to dive deeper in the Word. I will stay neutral in this and say that both are possible, but an uncle/niece relationship would make so much more sense. God bless you brother for your work.
I wish I was perfect like the people who don't make mistakes,I think people look for mistakes, So they feel above the person who made the mistake.God Bless Cory.
I disagreed with you but I love your channel I will not unsubscribe. You and Sir Walter and Kdub helped me a lot. Nobody knows or understands all of the Scriptures perfectly. So keep up the good work!
Corey, people are so mean. We don't know how to agree to disagree. We may differ, but we don't have to be hostile and nasty. Discussion is good and can be done with decency and order. We all stand to learn something from each other. Blessings.
We are to come together and find the TRUTH as Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST. NONE of us are PERFECT. Let the Holy Spirit lead and reveal GOD'S Word together. PRAY!! 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 🙏🏿
I agree with you. It could mean a descendant of. Perhaps they could have been cousins. In those days they didn't have certain words to describe relationships. For example in Spanish we use the term "primo hermano" to decribe a first cousin. The word "primo hermano" transalates as "cousin brother."
While the Hebrew word kallah (“daughter-in-law”) is not used to describe biological relationships, its usage in Genesis 11:31 does not negate Sarah’s biological connection to Abraham as his half-sister. Here’s why: 1. The term “kallah” focuses on the marital relationship: In Genesis 11:31, Sarah is called Terah’s “daughter-in-law” because she is married to Terah’s son, Abraham. The term does not address or conflict with Sarah’s biological relationship to Abraham (revealed later in Genesis 20:12). The Hebrew text is simply emphasizing her role as Abraham’s wife within the family structure. 2. Genesis 20:12 explicitly states the biological relationship: Abraham himself clarifies their familial connection when he says: “And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.” This confirms Sarah’s dual relationship to Abraham-both as his half-sister (biologically) and as his wife (maritally). 3. Biblical Hebrew is precise about roles: The Hebrew language often uses terms that reflect the role or function someone holds in a family, rather than explaining all aspects of their relationship. For instance, Sarah’s role as Abraham’s wife makes her Terah’s kallah, even though she also happens to be Abraham’s half-sister. The use of kallah in Genesis 11:31 does not disprove Sarah’s status as Abraham’s half-sister. It simply refers to her marital connection to Terah’s family. The Bible explicitly confirms the half-sibling relationship in Genesis 20:12. Both relationships can coexist without contradiction.
Ok I understand Corey’s point more now, I don’t completely agree yet but it’s worth looking into more and see other perspectives of scholars in Hebrew.
For someone to say they are unsubscribing because someone supposedly had a misunderstanding of a scripture?! It speaks volumes of their own understanding of scripture
The problem is, that these people tune in just to be able to prove you wrong Corey. At the end of the day we are all human and we are not perfect, we can and will be wrong at some point in time. If you look in the Bible, the words “son” and “daughter” are use with great latitude. Just like the words “father” and “son”. These words mean close relative it does not indicate the degree of closeness as we understand the word to mean. Also I would think that anyone who tuned in and watched and subscribed would themselves be a christian, and such would extend grace and compassion to Corey even if he was wrong.
Sarah was a stepdaughter of Abrahams father Haran, Abrahams father Haran married a woman that already had Sarah from another man, or marriage. The words Stepdaughter and Stepson were not used back then.
Corey, I appreciate you revisiting this: I could follow what had said prior during the Q&A because of vv. 17 & 18. God undoes His disapproval of Abraham's initial plan/deception towards Abimelech by healing his wife etc, and thereby also cosigns Abraham's 'truth-telling' with regards to who Sarah really is to him.
First off, I love the reasoning session here lol. I’m still looking at this but I’m still landing on Abraham and Sarah being natural siblings. My question is have you considered why the text makes a point to say “but not the daughter of my mother” (Gen 20:12) if Sarah is Tarah’s daughter in a different sense than a natural offspring? If it was some other use of the word “daughter”, then why make that distinction? Thanks for all of the content, brother. I’ve learned a lot here! TGBTG
^This. I was coming her to say ^this. If the word for used for daughter was some word that did not imply biological offspring, then it would not be necessary to contrast Sarai's relationship with Abram's father from her relationship with Abram's mother. The only reason to say it is to prevent you from believing the natural, most common implication. "Let me tell you that she is not "this" because the natural expectation is for her to be "this". If the word meant "niece" for instance, then it goes without saying that his father's niece is not his mother's niece except through possible marriage.
Yeah there’s a whole lot of vitriolic behavior towards you and NO GRACE… but these are the same people expecting Christ to give grace to them? And I commend you for actually always taking the time to explain the scripture to people, whether they wanna hear it or not! Because all these people that have all these comments and opinions are not doing that, and I’m pretty sure that none of them are actually teaching people! All I see is a whole bunch of jealousy whether they wanna believe it or admit it or not! And anybody that wants to come back and say oh I’m not jealous, yeah you are because you’re responding to this! I see a whole lot of Matthew 24:12 in this! And instead of arguing with people that are actually out here doing the work you need to be checking yourself before you get caught with your pants down when the Lord comes back! Attacking for somebody, that’s actually taking the time to go through the scripture and to show you in the actual text how it’s written? You might wanna be careful that you don’t become a part of the great apostasy because if you’re not falling towards the Faith or towards the Lord, you’re falling away from it & Him and you don’t even realize it! Get your own house in order!!!
Great job explaining my brother. I clearly understand. Thank you. Lots of people accuse because they don't realize what means one thing in one culture can be totally different in another culture.
Abraham was lying to save his own skin as it stated verbatim in Scripture she absolutely is his wife an absolutely is not his sister, even pharaoh backs up this clean by telling Abraham why would you do such a thing to have me commit such a heinous sin. 🙏✝️
@@sainttorii9487The KJV also has false friends in their text. A false friend is a word that had one meaning in 1611, and have a total different meaning today here in 2025!!
People are clowns. If you have any discernment In you whatsoever, you will know that Corey is a man of God who absolutely does not twist scripture and has no need to twist scripture. Been following this man for a few months and he is utterly trust worthy when it comes to the bible. Even if he was to make a mistake, I know he would 💯 correct himself. One of the most patient men on Christian UA-cam I follow. And humble.
Ive never liked when Christians argue and get so upset over small trivial things in the Bible. Truth is none of us know 100% the truth. When we get to heaven there will be a lot we didn’t know or misinterpreted.
I disagree the verse was clear that they shared same father ,but different mother making her his half sister indeed.. At the same time his wife because they were married..❤ Context matters in how words are used ..
It’s crazy because you can give people the definition of a word and then show how the word is used and how the words are never used and they still disagree without any reason. That’s what is wrong with the body.
It was common in the Bible to say brother when you meant someone from your clan. So, she could still be his sister and his wife. Abraham’s father and mother could have been from different clans- which would explain the of my father but not mother. Not arguing this point, just saying that Genesis 20:2 isn’t definitive proof against the argument presented in the video.
Plus Cory it says daughter in law, (Kallah). Why would he use it to mean daughter (bath), when Sarai in this scripture Gen 11:31 is NOT being described as a daughter, but IS describing Sara as the daughter-in-law, So why would that word be any other word Cory.
Corey, I don't always agree with everything that you say, but you know what. You explain things to the best of your ability and understanding, and you do it freely. The thing is is that because most of us aren't in communities you're providing a necessary service by being a community board for discussing scripture without trying to add too much. I still like your channel, and I'm sorry that so many felt the need to be mean about it. Especially regarding the other things that have happened, thanks for having a level head about it.
The account where God shows Moses his Glory screams I AM MERCIFUL, I delight in mercy. While Abimelech followed the desires of his heart, he learned that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperatly wicked. Who can know it? And in his ignorance he was beaten with few stripes. because again, GOD IS MERCIFUL.
Mr. Minor, your explanation still hasn't convinced me that this was the case. Abimelech confronted Abram about his lie and he admitted that he did lie. He then said She is the daughter of my father but not of my mother. So if she was just a descendant of his household, then why would Abram describe her ancestry? He did that because she was his sister and his wife, it would be unnecessary and really irrelevant to say she is a descendant of my household because the only thing required to be a wife was that you had to be a virgin
I went back and fact checked him by scriptures when the video came out originally. Corey is correct. Corey knows the word THOROUGHLY. (Not saying he’s perfect) Most of us are surface readers. Thanks Corey, chiming in from Dallas
That's what I appreciate about him. When a guy knows the text and its original language and takes you through the interpretation on camera, that's USUALLY a trustworthy source.
Oh brothers and sisters why do treat your brother like this. No one is perfect except for 1. We all make mistakes and we need to be able to sharpen each other. Those that leave because of a minor error or a miscommunication will also be treated like this by our Father. We are to reflect Jesus in us and my brother here is a christian and has Jesus in him. We all get things wrong here and there and Jesus is patient with us and we must remember that when we communicating with each other and the world. These are fruits of the spirit or lack of for those that choose to be worldly like in your responses. Forgive my brother if he has offended you but we are not to be easily offended and slow to anger James 1; 19 Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
As a non-disponsationist I don't agree with Corey on the end times but as a berean I have learned not to throw out the baby with the bath water. No one is perfect except God. We are allowed to make mistakes. But was there really a mistake? I don't think so but will do my diligence. God bless you Corey and your ministry.
You are correct, they weren’t blood siblings but they has the “same Father” Yahua There are 3 phrases one could choose but siblings by blood is neither.
I have no hate for you Corey. May I call you Corey? In fact from the time I discovered your channel, you have taught me so much and convinced to read the bible whenever you post a new video. Contrary to popular belief, in some countries, there aren't many churches teaching the truth. Thanks again for your channel, Mr. Minor.
Thank you, brother, for going deeper into this scripture. It really helps a lot. I won't be unsubscribing and never planned to. 😊 I'm sure that unsubscriber has gotten a scripture wrong. No one is perfect!! 🙏🏾
The high priest / HIGH PRIEST must marry a virgin of his / HIS own people. He / HE can’t marry an unclean woman / soul. Therefore BE YE PERFECT ! The blood made us perfect. The law can keep us perfect if we obey it. DRINK MY BLOOD AND EAT MY FLESH SAYS YAHUSHA THE CHRIST
In Gen.11:31, is clear, Abram’s wife, whether she’s Abram’s half sister or not, she’s still the daughter-in-law of Terah, because of her marriage to Abram, she can still be Terah’s daughter, according to Gen. 20:12. No need to complicate the scripture, especially since there’s no complete agreement among scholars. This scripture is not a game breaker either way.
My only question is, how is this argument relevant to anything? whether she is or not. I don't know why I should care. Another thing if you unsubscribe because you disagree, you may want to be careful about what you do agree with. You can't be totally relying on any man's interpretation. Nobody is perfect.
Corey, this was really good! Could you please, consider doing a podcast explaining the Roman Catholic take on the Gospels of Matthew 12:46, Luke 8:19, and Mark 3:31, where it speaks about JESUS'S "brothers and sisters"? They seem to refute that, to mean a cultural relationship, (meaning a community where everyone refers to each other as "brother" or "sister"), rather than being the blood offspring of JOSEPH and MARY. (I believe of course, that scripture makes it clear, that they are Joseph and Mary's blood offspring!)
There's no need for any hate. That's truly unnecessary. In the Apocrypha, the Book of Jasher says in Jasher 9:1-4 she is the daughter of Haran, Lot's father that he had when he was 42. The book of Jasher is valid to read and often provides more information and background. The Book of Jasher is mentioned in the Bible in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18. It was read and taught to the Israelites.
No, he (Abraham) said, “she is actually my sister…” it’s ok. You’re wrong on this one. They are half brother and sister. There were times when I had to humbly go back & correct myself and it’s ok.
Context is always king. Segments of text isolated from the overall message can be useful, but should never overrule the importance of what is actually being communicated. Abraham knew exactly what the king meant, that’s why he assured him that it was true as well. Abraham didn’t argue such a point for nothing. He doubled down to make it clear. The context is always the best measuring tool.
Corey you do make a good point, you have to look at the word used in the original language. I think you do a wonderful job and i really appreciate the time and study that you do.
The problem is that some people grab on to a certain understanding of their own doing, and hold onto that understanding for a long period of time, and become upset that someone like Corey would dare correct that understanding! Corey breaks it down in clear scriptural hermeneutics and they can't handle it! If they disagree, FINE; but they need to leave room for the possibility that they are wrong, but remain civil!
I just worked through that same part of Genesis and I came to the same conclusion as Corey did. She was not his biological sister by our standards we use today. Certainly not of any relation that God would have been in opposition of as Abrahams seed through Sarah is the linage of Christ.
Why does this particular scripture need reading something into it that doesn't exist or have enough information on? There is not enough data, that’s like squeezing water from a stone or if I say something is blue then it’s simply blue, there wouldn’t be a need to dig further to see what shade of blue it actually is. It should be left as it reads, he said it was the daughter of his father but not his mother that’s a half sister. In my case I actually have 4 half siblings. The Bible doesn’t have to explain how many wives Abrahams father had it’s not relevant. No need to dig deeper, at the time people intermarried that’s a fact. Trying to move Abraham away from incest by saying she wasn’t his half sister to defend him isn’t needed he said what he said it wasn’t something he is trying to hide because it was allowed. Read the text for what it is no need to interpret what it plainly says, no need to be a theologian to understand “she is my half sister”
This place is not for the elementary. It's the place that makes you think outside of what you were taught. I get sooo angry with Cory most of the time. But I found out the more I come back the less angry I am when he's wrong. After all, he's not Jesus.😅

Right, I notice his patience when debating people. He's never come across as nasty, imo.
While Abraham did refer to Sarah as his "sister" in Genesis 12:13 and 20:12, this was only a half-truth designed to protect himself.
Here's the clarification:
* Half-Siblings: Abraham and Sarah shared the same father but had different mothers (Genesis 20:12).
Important Takeaways:
* The Bible doesn't endorse incest: The Bible clearly prohibits incestuous relationships in Leviticus 18 and Deuteronomy.
I have two 1st cousins that are married to each other.

Son of David is a Messianic title
@@tyronedawson8553
Get rid of Devil's ESV & get God's actual words THE KING JAMES VERSION. the actual words God spoke were:
Genesis 20:12 KJV
AND YET INDEED she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife

I learned something today. I was taught she was a half-sister or step sister. I won't lose sleep over this subject, but I appreciate the deeper dive into the text.
While I disagree with you, I have so much respect for what you're doing. I have learned a lot from you.

Abraham and Sarah had the same father, different mother, she was his sister, like the scripture say. We have a clear choice to either believe the Bible, or exercise our own understanding and intellect.
Yes I believe that to be true according to Genesis 20: 12.

They are nasty know it alls.

Loved ur response and agree in humility with you. I wish more people would simply let the Word of God stated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 do what God tells us it does. I see how people are ready to attack, malign, abuse, tear down, for seemingly no good reason, in Jesus name. It lines up with Matthew 7:14.
This is the issue with the western Christian interpretation of The Text. The default is never to understand Scripture based on its original Hebraic perspective, so emotional reaction prevails. Thank you Corey
Lost in Translation
>> The word sister in Hebrew is " Achot " which is used to describe a female who has the same parents as another person or who shares one parent with another.
In my study,
I believe Sarah and Iscah are the same person and she was the daughter of Abraham’s deceased brother (Haran).
Can you please state the sources of this information?
Wow, folks are harsh! I appreciate your honesty and integrity Corey. Folks, none of us have perfect theology. God bless 🙏

I agree with you. It could mean a descendant of. Perhaps they could have been cousins. In those days they didn't have certain words to describe relationships. For example in Spanish we use the term "primo hermano" to decribe a first cousin. The word "primo hermano" transalates as "cousin brother."
This subject completely turned my whole world upside down… 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know how I’m going to live knowing what I know now 😜
Look, I understand what you are saying but Abraham did not lie. Technically she is his sister and that is a fact he stated.
While the Hebrew word kallah (“daughter-in-law”) is not used to describe biological relationships, its usage in Genesis 11:31 does not negate Sarah’s biological connection to Abraham as his half-sister. Here’s why:
1. The term “kallah” focuses on the marital relationship:
In Genesis 11:31, Sarah is called Terah’s “daughter-in-law” because she is married to Terah’s son, Abraham. The term does not address or conflict with Sarah’s biological relationship to Abraham (revealed later in Genesis 20:12). The Hebrew text is simply emphasizing her role as Abraham’s wife within the family structure.
2. Genesis 20:12 explicitly states the biological relationship:
Abraham himself clarifies their familial connection when he says:
“And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.”
This confirms Sarah’s dual relationship to Abraham-both as his half-sister (biologically) and as his wife (maritally).
3. Biblical Hebrew is precise about roles:
The Hebrew language often uses terms that reflect the role or function someone holds in a family, rather than explaining all aspects of their relationship.
I bless the Lord for a one like you. Thank you.
Ok I understand Corey’s point more now, I don’t completely agree yet but it’s worth looking into more and see other perspectives of scholars in Hebrew.
It reminds me of when Isaac said the same thing about his wife Rebekah. He called her sister even though they were somewhat distant relatives.
Cory you’re doing a great job in your teaching continue to be a blessing
Great job explaining my brother. I clearly understand. Thank you. Lots of people accuse because they don't realize what means one thing in one culture can be totally different in another culture.
Sarah Was his Half sister. Just like Rebekah was Isaac's being his half sister.
Abraham was lying to save his own skin as it stated verbatim in Scripture she absolutely is his wife an absolutely is not his sister, even pharaoh backs up this clean by telling Abraham why would you do such a thing to have me commit such a heinous sin.

I agree with you Brother Corey.

The world can't help but put it's proverbial 2 cents in
The account where God shows Moses his Glory screams I AM MERCIFUL, I delight in mercy.

Those that leave because of a minor error or a miscommunication will also be treated like this by our Father. We are to reflect Jesus in us and my brother here is a christian and has Jesus in him. We all get things wrong here and there and Jesus is patient with us and we must remember that when we communicating with each other and the world. These are fruits of the spirit or lack of for those that choose to be worldly like in your responses. Forgive my brother if he has offended you but we are not to be easily offended and slow to anger

DRINK MY BLOOD AND EAT MY FLESH SAYS YAHUSHA THE CHRIST
But this same argument can be made with the Hebrew word for “sister” that is used to describe Sarah to Abraham….. which you did not address.
It's almost like the Bible wasn't written in English originally, but people are only reading in English.
Take heart brother. This is part of your learning process about the word of God. As christians, we all do.
Concubines were very common in the history .just because the bible doesnt tell you every day of abraham life shouldnt be the point of picking at.
