I've never seen at the ESC stage an artist of such scale, a true artistic masterpiece. Except the outstanding vocals, she sell this entry with her whole being, gestures, facial expressions, even if one can't understand a word, still can feel every piece of emotion going through it.

One of my all time favourites!
I'm supposed to be sleeping now but I'm so glad to check UA-cam!
It's actually a very painful song, the chorus is literally "let me cry"
So powerful, emotional, raw and she is simply amazing, 5th place, best result of Albania so far ❤️

Before the live show the artists made their videos of the song. And Nishlas video….. to me…. was so much more aesthetic, simple …. and heartbreaking listening to the first time I saw it. And even though I didn’t knew the language, I kinda felt the story. Furthermore…. I think the singing (as studio versions often do) came out that bit more goosebumping than her live version. But anyway…. Wow!!!…. Just freaking W O W ! ! !

We Albanians have an ancient tradition of vocal singing without instruments which is called iso polyphony, therefore instrumental music is often superfluous for us since it is the voice that acts as master and guide .. Our isopolyphony is protected by the unsco and is cultural heritage of humanity.

"Më lërni të qaj" (aka. the "child" note) translates to "let me cry" :)
The title itself "Suus" translates to "hush", like in "hush, don't speak... or, don't make a noise and keep things to yourself and just go on with life" 😬
But, the chorus counterattacks the title by just asking to be "allowed to cry" and just express the sadness, desperation, etc. that one is feeling inside! So... yeah... just wanted to help and clear up what the "child" note was :) (also why there is so much "screaming", as according to some!)
She did an AMAZING job and there is only a small number of singers worldwide that have the vocal range she does ❤

The "child" note actually says "mër ni te qai" which translates as "let me cry". And cry she did... I think she still holds the record for the longest note ever sung in Eurovision. Or maybe Paula Seling from Romania broke the record in 2015. You will see for yourself when you get there.

Rona Nishliu is an Albanian from Kosovo. All of Albania has a multitude of singing talents, but Kosovo - and especially Mitrovica, the town she's from - are special. Ancient historians used to say that the Dardanians - the ancient Illyrian tribe Kosovo Albanians come from - were renowned fighters and musicians. Kosovo has never broken the tradition to this day 😊

I think the reason Albania sends great vocalists is that their competition for choosing the representative is not purely focused on Eurovision, it's more like a bonus for the winner. That's also why the Albanian revamp is so infamous, most songs are not made with Eurovision in mind, so they have to be changed. For example, Eugent's song was 1.5 minures longer than allowed on Eurovision stage.

They are commercial singers, not the smartest to brag with commercial singers.

It's actually a Latin word despite being sung in Albanian.

"Lindita Halimi - World" from Albania in Eurovision2018 also showed that albanians haven't got vocal range :D

I should add Inva Mula ( the Albanian soprano singer) for singing " The diva dance " at the film " The fifth element" with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovic.

Great reaction! This one was very interesting, but not my cup of tea. Happy for Albania though, they placed really high with Rona and Suus

I believe the song is about her crying for today's children. Suus is latin for 'cry'. She came in 4th or 5th. It is Albania's best result to date.

Hey Jake! Maybe at some point you can react to Romania 2010: Paula and Ovi - Playing with fire. The song ended up 3rd that year, great song I must say. 😊

I absolutely hated this song back in 2012. I can appreciate it now but all those high notes are a bit too much for me. I love the verses though.

It was ranked 5th. If it would represent an overrated country, it would 100% won.

This could never have won, imo. Especially not up against Euphoria, although I don't like Euphoria either.

    You are so diplomatic :)
The first time I heard it I hated it with all my being and would have had nothing nice to say about it. Seriously, what kind of crap is this?! I easily would have placed it as the worst Eurovision entry of all time. Certainly the most overrated. It definitely did not sound like music to me and I was shocked that it placed so high. What do Eurovision voters know about music anyway, right? Over time though - and this is the beauty of Eurovision - I have grown to love it and actually be deeply moved by it, even though I still don't know what it's about.
Just now I got goosebumps and maybe shed a tear or two when I heard it. It's a beautiful song!
