Of all the P42's, 122 is still the greatest. I've often said and believe that there is not a better Nathan K5LA out there. For a little while there, they had the Hybrid on it and I was like, NOOO (smh). But now they've gone back to the traditional K5LA. Truly the G.O.A.T.
Don't mean to butt in, but I myself own both a K5LA and a K5LLA, and this horn is your average straight up K5LA, bells 1, 2, 3a, 4a, and 5. Nowadays i can guarantee the horn probably doesn't sound this good, but if anything would have a new cast (crappy sounding) K5LA.
I don't know, if there is nothing but the K5LA around, it'd be too common. Sometimes it's nice to have the ugly horns around to make you appreciate the good ones.
Where was this? I actually saw this very train in Raton NM, running about 4.5 hours late due to the sucide in Gallup. Why are they using their horns so much there?? please respond ;)
sounds like maybe the engineer was alittle gun shy at the crossings after the suicide possibly reason why they were laying on the horn. good sound though.
He was making great use of the horn sequence button.
That K5la was giving me the chills. Awesome Amtrak action for sure!

@@derrickhamilton6130 What about 837?
@@ArturoRailProductions Yea. 837, 122 and 76 are some of the best I've seen
@@amtrak7422 123 and 108
Sucks because 122 sounds trashy now. Though some P40s/42s are regaining the older K5s, 816 is probably the best in the system at this moment.
Wow, awesome video man, that horn gives me chills. LOVE IT!!
Hutchinson, KS
They were using the horn alot due to all of the crossings through town.
Awesome Video!! Amazing K5LA!!
Sweet K5LA action!!
Come to Lockport, IL where there are about 10 crossings in about half a mile. Amtrak flies through there doing 80mph.
Classic clip! Still had a baggage in OG phase 3!
Great job Chuck.
A 4 min horn action ! Woww
Awesome video
sure did
nice catch with good horn action
Great K5LA
on a amtrak website it says 122 has a K5LLA not a K5LA, which is unusual for amtrak. NICE VIDEO
@MetraFan947 It's a "Kansas Skyscraper", or better known as a grain elevator.
You can see the dent on the front engine when it goes by the crossing

I second that motion!
The engineer was making good use of horn sequencer

ownage
@MetraFan947 looks like a really old grain elevator building.
he deffinatly gave you a horn show...
horn sequence button
On that day, a man comitted suicide in gallup by jumping in front of the train, that's why it was 5 hs late.

Face melter 😳
It means someone either jumped in front of the train or was on the rails and intentionally got killed by the train.
