    I guess there would have been an outcry and public outrage if a man would have said publicly, that his wife can be glad to even be on the list of priorities... When a woman says this, it seems to be funny...

      Heimdall all seeing Why a specific gender. Females can just be as bad as males. I do not see any difference between any gender from all walks of life. Change the word 'man' or 'woman' to 'person' or 'individual'. For me, this 'feminism' thing is destroying people's lives, big time.

    Here is a woman who has worked hard to come up the ladder. Nowadays women wan't reservations to come up. She knows the reality of life. The reality of success. Her guilt is that she couldn't spend enough time with her children. Children are the most important people to a mother and she couldn't give them all the love and attention due to her career. So she is speaking the truth. You have to decide what is success according to you. Working for a company or being with your children or balancing the two.Men can't replace Women as mothers. The role of mother to a child is unique.

    • @lashaunbeazer9264
      @lashaunbeazer9264 6 років тому +10

      Wrong. The role of a child is unique to a mother. But women cannot replace MEN as fathers. A man can replace a woman as a "motherly" father easily. But a woman cannot easily be stern and strict to her child. She'll most likely get too stressed and actually abuse the child. Most child abuse comes from mothers.

    This woman makes me think that women want to be leaders because they think leaders don't have to listen to their mothers anymore. then she 'slams the milk down' like being disrespectful to your mother is something to brag about. Maybe if you're a CEO then your children will clean their room without arguing and they'll sing as they cook your dinner and go to be every night instead of watching tv all the time! Why can't women 'have it all'? this is all because there aren't enough women CEOs! never mind the fact that men, even men CEOs, don't 'have it all', and they tend to be ok with that.

    Indra, thank you for sharing your experiences as a working woman. For clarification, I believe I am hearing you say that as the president and CEO of a Fortune 500 company, you, as well as many other corporate and working women, find it difficult to strike a perfect work-life balance. While I am able to understand where you are coming from and the reasons behind your declaration of "women can't have it all," I believe your humor and lack of accountability reduce the power of your argument, and what I believe you are trying to say. For example, throughout your interview, you repeatedly reference the expectations your mother, husband, and children have set for you as either a daughter, wife, or mother. In your stories, you shared how you challenged their expectations. However, I believe that your statement of "women can't have it all" is not truly reflective of the problem at hand. I believe the problem at hand is "women can't have it all in relation to societal expectations." I struggle with your testimony because you internalize societal expectations and, at times, blame yourself for being a bad mother and wife, when the true emphasis and blame should be placed on the traditional and antiquated views of society. In modern society, women are expected to strive for success in their field and maintain the responsibilities of the traditional stay-at-home mom; I find these expectations to be paradoxical and discouraging to the working woman. I know that I have struggled personally in thinking about how I will balance my professional and family lives in the future, and I think that this article provides an interesting perspective on societal expectations of women and the idea that there is more to being a good mother than what is typically expected; for example, you have been a good mother to your daughters by paving the way for them to succeed in corporate business and by providing them with a strong professional role model. Here is the article: harpers.org/archive/2015/10/the-mother-of-all-questions/
