- Welcome to the 2024 Sequoia National Park Ultimate Travel Guide. In this video, I discuss how to get to the park, how to get around, where to stay (lodging and camping), where to eat, where to get coffee (at home!), and importantly, the attractions of the Park.
Visiting Sequoia National Park will make your neck hurt! These trees are huge and you will be looking UP, a lot! Highlighting any visit to Sequoia is the Giant Forest to see the largest (by volume) tree in the world, General Sherman. The size of these trees is overwhelming and awe-inspiring. But even though the Park is about the trees (it is named after a tree, for goodness sake), a visit is more than just forests and wood. Don't forget about Moro Rock for wonderful views of the area, Crystal Cave (you do need reservations!) and the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mt. Whitney.

Sequoia National Park is renowned worldwide for its majestic sequoia trees, which are the largest living organisms on Earth. The park is home to the General Sherman Tree, the largest tree by volume, standing at an awe-inspiring 275 feet tall. Walking among these ancient giants is an experience that leaves visitors in awe of nature's grandeur.
Beyond the iconic sequoias, the park boasts breathtaking mountain landscapes that captivate visitors at every turn. Towering granite peaks, deep canyons, and cascading waterfalls create a scenic backdrop that's perfect for hiking, photography, and simply immersing oneself in the beauty of the natural world.
The park offers an extensive network of trails, catering to hikers of all skill levels. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll through a grove of sequoias or a challenging ascent to a mountain summit, there's a trail for everyone. The Lakes Trail, for example, showcases stunning alpine lakes, while the Mount Whitney Trail presents a thrilling opportunity to summit the highest peak in the contiguous United States.
Sequoia National Park also provides a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The park is home to diverse animal species, including black bears, mule deer, mountain lions, and coyotes. Birdwatchers will be delighted to spot the rare and endangered California condor soaring through the skies. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, offering a chance to witness these remarkable creatures in their natural habitat.
Additionally, the park offers a range of outdoor activities beyond hiking. Camping is a popular option, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the park's serene ambiance. Fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and snowshoeing (during the winter months) are among the many other activities available to visitors.
Sequoia National Park also boasts fascinating geological features. Crystal Cave, a subterranean wonder, showcases stunning rock formations and offers guided tours to educate visitors about the park's geology. Moro Rock, a granite dome, provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Practical amenities, including visitor centers, campgrounds, and dining options, make exploring the park convenient and accessible. However, it's important to note that services may be limited in remote areas, so visitors should come prepared with their own supplies.
42, and finally making my first journey there next Wednesday! Thanks for the video!
Thank you very much. I did go as a young teenager (first time) but didn’t appreciate it. I went again in my late 40s and wow!!! The trees are other worldly.
Did you enjoy it??
@@JustReckles5 yes, very much! There was a thick fog throughout, which made it even more spectacular! The views from Morro Rock were next to zero. It was great! Very much recommended
@patrickcrews3977 niiiice I went around the time you went, it was absolutely stunning, I've never been while there was fog, it felt as if I were atop of the world
Awesome video! Me and my mother are going together for Mother’s Day today!
Thank you very much. Have an awesome time today. I hope it’s beautiful. 👍🏻
I've been watching videos all day about this area, trying to plan a trip. Your video is easily the most concise, while having the most necessary info. Thank you! Excellent work
Thank you very much, that was such a nice to hear. I was planning on going back this year because it's so incredible and was only there for a couple of days last year - may have to be next year. Hope you get to go!
Great content and video! I took screenshots of the places you labeled before heading there.
Thank you very much. The one thing I regret was not taking a photo of me or the family in front of one of these amazing trees. Just forgot to do it. Be sure you take a photo of yoruself in front of the trees as they are beyond incredible.
Thanks. This is the best information I have found so far.
Thank you! Going again soon, although need to do a Kings Canyon video!
A great informational video, Nicely done! We look forward to a 2024 trip here.
Thank you very much. I was just in the area - for half a day - and did a couple more very quick videos. Should be out in a couple of months. Enjoy your time there next year - it's very special.
So good - love your work. Heading to the park in a couple of weeks - is everything still open in September?
Thank you! Yes everything is still in September. Great time of year to visit the park. Enjoy it.
I checked the website, seems Crystal Cave is closed
@@traveleazWhat is open in late December from Fresno airport to Wuksachi? Ideally 180, but if closed I guess 198.
I would love to see sequoias one day
They are amazing - the older I get the more incredible they appear (I did not apprexiste them as much as I should have when I first saw them as a teenager). I hope you go!
You must! It feels like you enter a portal into a wonderland!
@@traveleaz Thank you!
One day I will be visit at this place
I hope you do! The first time you see one of these enormous trees you will know it was worth it. Thank you for the comment.
best camping ive had backpacking up high elevations bathing in lakes clean air water clear see fish and salmon swimming just grab fish no pole needed
I'm a little jealous, as I haven't done what you did. That's the best way to enjoy this great park.
Glad Lincoln saved the forests of California even though he never visited.
You're totally right! Back in 1864 ... smart man, that Lincoln. Thanks for the comment.
❤❤🎉😊
Thank you very much.
Would you recommend going there first week of April? Or late June?
Good question - late June is better for weather but not for crowds. I would personally go in April and avoid the crowds (although the weather may not be quite as good).
@@traveleaz thank you! 😊
I’m in Los Angeles wanting to go. But I don’t know if I should go to the sequoia national park or the forest!! Are they different? Will I see sequoias at both places ? I’m lost and need help
So - I was hoping someone else would reply as I know Sequoia National Park, having been there many times in my life but I have never been to Sequoia NF. I know the Forest is much larger (3x larger I believe?) and of course, there are many simliarities. I am also aware of the magnificent Trail of 100 Giants in the National Forest. They are also managed by different agencies - however, I am aware I haven't really answered your question but wanted you to have some reply. I'm hoping someone with more knowledge that I have of BOTH can help you out.
Hello, Yes, there are sequoias in both places but if it's your first visit, i would go to the Park, not the Forest.
.
@@TIARRA1NDRFUL Best answer! Thanks
Reforça a segurança e proíbe a entrada {reserva federal}.
Okay!
What are the best months to visit the park?
Good question - most searches on the internet say June to August, but it's too busy in my opinion. I much prefer mid-September to mid-October (if the weather holds).
A permit to hike mt whitney?! Sad sheeshes :(
I know...I see the logic (in case you get lost, don't make it back, etc.) but still...
Not permitet to have bear spray?! What to do when animal attacted me? Just die?
I know! I think I read that this is so due to no grizzlies - but, I've seen some pretty aggressvie black bears too. Gotta have bear spray.
I was gonna say the same thing! 😳😳
There were people to go walking or camling etc times of "!" that certain ones getting in hide and seek and fighting of ways like then out of other ways any where but it happened thete in the woods but this was at the one mile hike thats theres a sign for a 1 mile hike or a 99 miles hike that leads the opposite way and the one mile hike gos around something green. And tall trees there in the surrounding and further out somewhere but you can check of those trees around too.
I'm not entirely sure of your comment, but thanks anyway.
@@traveleazi know right!!
INVEST IN TREES IN STOCKS ,
Crystal cave has been closed for years.
Yes, it has been closed since 2021 (according to the NPS). The Park is hoping to open it again this year, 2024.

?
How u supposed to defend urself against a bear if u cant carry bear spray? Lol.
I know! The presumption is that black bears aren't dangerous - but they can be! And, why can we take bear spray into some parks and not others?
I hope EVs are banned, don’t want the wonderful trees to burn.
Gas cars are more likely to start a fire
Dumb logic! No wonder ICE tooting people drag down human progress
No need for music.
I some here for information. If I wanted music I'd go look for some
Don’t know what to say. Hopefully there is enough information to offset your aversion of music. Btw, the music is set at a very low audio level.
@@traveleazthe music and video are great.
@@sistagirllondon Thank you!! 😕
Cool inspiring message however their in a small gas station unfortunately in the Stoney creek/ montecito ski resort areas so to say their one single inside the premises of sequoia national park systems not the outskirts campgrounds wise dorst creek I believe is the closest to that ⛽️ stationary
Thank you for this note and the message.
