I catch surf perch more often when it is truly nasty up here in the PNW, hands down! My PB 3.5# was caught on gulp sand worms camo and on the edge of a low pressure system.

for your pops fg knot - increase the number of wraps with the braid side and look up the "locked" version. there are lots of people complaining about their fg coming apart also.
No what it is was I didn’t put the gloves on and really tighten it. I just gave it a casual tug and called it a day. I use the briggsy method. 20 wraps
Hi there! Really enjoying your channel as I learn how to surf fish down here in SoCal. Had a question, at one point do you throw the LC/Clarissa vs Gulp worms or zman stuff? Are there any weather conditions or tides that influence that decision? Thank you!
The main thing that would dictate what to throw is wind. With strong winds, the Lewers are hard to work and that’s the perfect time to throw on the Krusteaz- which we rarely throw. It’s fun to catch them on lures.
@@Hook2Cook ah okay so it sounds like you throw the lures far more often then the plastics. Wonder if that's a central coast thing or would even work down here in socal. Guess will need to test. I'm just starting out, normally float tube so it's all a learning process for me. Thanks for the help

@@Hook2Cook Cool! The idea of a suspending lure is that it can stop or go slow without sinking too quickly or floating up, so the fish can see it better.

No... but there’s conditions sometimes that look like it could make sense. Maybe in the fall transition

What kind of reel are you using? I had the penn wrath but was hit by a wave and got damaged. Has that reel failed you at all? I noticed a couple waves hit it and it didn’t seem to do any damage to it.
This is a van staal vr50... it is fully sealed and fully dunkable. There’s even video of it being buried in sand and still working! We go at least 4 times a month. Not many reels can take that punishment.

Always down to try new stuff! Our beaches are not as deep as the ones you’re around so you might find some good applications for this.
