I lived in Kelowna back in 2009 and distinctly remember going to an employment workshop. The woman guiding us for the day literally told everyone in the room to move to a different city. She said Kelowna is a place everyone wants to be and there simply aren't enough jobs for the average Joes. If you own a business, like yourself, that'll help tremendously. Housing in Kelowna is through the roof and, consequently, renters get sodomized shamelessly by the landlords because they know they can charge whatever they want.
As much as I love Kelowna for all the great things you mentioned, it is turning into a big city and starting to lose its appeal. We don't have the infrastructure to meet the needs of population growth, and urban sprawl is unsustainable not to mention very expensive. The outrageously priced housing market in Vancouver has lead to people selling their property there and buying available property here, inflating our housing and rental market prices. Our municipality is doing the best it can to keep up with transportation demand. We already have a significant struggle with single-occupant vehicles, but more sustainable options are being worked on. I'm not trying to be a downer, just sharing the other side of the coin.
You are correct what is happening here is high tech is taking over kind of like San Francisco last year it was already the biggest economic driver in K town. 1.7 Billion to be exact throw in the great exodus from Vancouver where 2 story house prices average over 2 million and you have a perfect storm for insane house prices. In 10 years my prediction is double current average house pricing 800.000 x 2 = 1.600.000 Million no joke.
The municipality is doing everything it can to make the single occupancy vehicle issue worse. There must be 4-5 miles of rd in the down town core or within 20 blocks of it that were 2 lane and desperately needed to be made 4 lane. And while totally having the room to do it, instead they made the 2 lanes 3-4ft narrower and made 15ft wide sidewalks and bike lanes on each side, with 1% of the parking previously available there. And before anybody complains “oh but we need more bike lanes” , sure, but we don’t need 4-8ft of high maintenance grass or brick on each side of each bike lane AND sidewalk. It’s only 50% usable and 50% completely wasted aesthetic space. They’re essentially turning the roads into sidewalks in Kelowna.
we live in holland,my wife is born in canada, i have seen this town ones,we wanna go back to this place and see if it is good for people who don,t work no more,

I live in Kelowna, rent a really shitty 3 bedrooms bathroom and kitchen top floor of a house for $1900/month. It’s literally the cheapest place to rent anywhere in the area.
@Karym Eliya 3 10'x10' bedrooms, horribly outdated appliances (don't work or are breaking fast) and a disgusting bathroom. not to mention there's absolutely zero storage. my point is its crazy expensive to rent here.
You worded that like its south side chicago 😂😂 don't be so paranoid trust me i live in the worst part of surrey and have seen weird shit n kelowna is 1000 times less dangerous
I used to live in Kelowna. Now I live in Rock Creek, which is 1hr 45 mins to downtown Kelowna. I don't miss the hurt to the wallet Kelowna can cause, but I do miss seeing all the good people around town. Shoutout to my Kelowna friends.
Yeah, I can definitely see that. Funny, coming from the Lower Mainland Kelowna prices feel relieving in many ways. Compared to other parts of the country/province though, it's still pricey.
I truly love Kelowna and area but the complete lack of even mildly decent paying jobs makes it a deal breaker to move there unless you can come up with a business idea or do shift work in another part of Canada.
I grew up and live here currently. I have been around the world and lived in many other places, yet I always want to come back to the Okanagan. Love it here
Went on a trip from Saskatchewan to Vancouver, on the way back we drove through Kelowna in the night, still so beautiful and amazing just driving through the city at night, i wish i could have stayed till morning to see how beautiful it really was
I’m glad you’re happy there. I spent 20 years in Kelowna and I’m glad I got out. I visit Kelowna only for Costco shopping and quick family visits and then I’m very happy to get out again. You moved from Vancouver so yes Kelowna is better than the hectic coast. Personally I am very uncomfortable anywhere near the downtown core of Kelowna when I visit because of the massive homeless issue. Very uncomfortable to spend time downtown during the day and especially after the sun goes down
Loved living in the Okanagan for a few years, but the rents and property prices were far too high in relation to wages. Unless you make over $60,000 per year, you'll be living in poverty. You need to make over $80,000 per year to have a reasonable lifestyle. Other than that and the insane tourism traffic in the summer, the Okanagan is one of the most beautiful places to live.
We vacationed in Kelowna for years. Only because my daughter had friends there. If it wasn’t for her we easily could have found better places to go. Even Jasper isn’t as crowded and far more beautiful. Housing is probably similar in value. I honestly didn’t think Kelowna was that nice but people we met were friendly. The over crowded only highway ended it for us. We got tired of sitting in a parking lot going in or out of Kelowna. They need a monorail or LRT going down the Center of that highway. It would reduce traffic significantly.
I lived in Kelowna for 5 years, and honestly got tired of it and moved back to the coast. 🌊Pretty area, but would never move back there, it's still too small-town minded I found. But to each their own 🤷♀️
Oh no way. I'm not going to lie, Vancouver is amazing as well. If I could afford it, I'd have a really difficult time deciding. Definitely changes based on the season of life that you're in.
i moved here from ontario. After travelling through different towns like Nelson and Revelstoke and Whistler, I settled in Ktown. it had all of the things i was looking for in a city. 14 years later i dont feel like id want to pack up and move. And i do agree this is the best town in Canada. I call it the California of Canada. Good vid and beautiful cinematic shots. This just popped up on my feed so i clicked it
been living in the area for a few good healthy years now, i can fully agree with this video. the surrounding area's if kelowna are breath taking. until you notice the gas price's jump for no reason, sun shine tax effect's EVERYTHING, real estate is fairly close to van (IMO), and an ever growing amount of out of province buyers. the bridge leaving kelowna is a murder fest as well. after the bridge into town the lay out of the city itself seems to have been done with a person tossing darts at a farm house. that's me being nice and NOT complaining about the nick name smokanogan from the several years of being smoked in by the wild fire's. that's been just kinda unfortunate.
According to Wikipedia Kelowna has around 165,596 that's not a lot I mean to me it looks like a little town , but it's so beautiful surrounded by mountains and lakes
I moved to Kelowna 2 months ago and love it here. Everything you've said about Kelowna is so true: lovely people, amazing nature, so much adventure, it's just an all around amazing place. I also got a job with the DKA a few weeks after moving here so there's definitely opportunity. Super cool city, thanks for the video!
Hi Noah Thanks for the video. Currently, i am based in Ontario, and I have been seeing videos from Kelowna and looks amazingand I am really missing the mountains. Something that I saw in other videos is the concern about insecurity. How serious is this? Thanks in advance
Personally, I think Cawston and Keremeos are better. More affordable, no crazy traffic like there is on Harvey and you have easy access to good food. You can do the same outdoor stuff without dealing with Karens and other crazy Kelowna people.
I hate the weather in the Okanagan. Too cloudy in the winter and too hot in the summer. That's just my personal opinion of course. It's not all bad, just the part I found hard to adjust to when moving here.
Kelowna the scenery very beautiful I , lived in Stekin at Dillworth drive Kelowna B.C before on top of the mountain the weather is good .now I lived here in Winnipeg and the people very friendly .
Ha ha...as much as I appreciate your enthusiasm for our fair city it might be somewhat misleading. I have been here since 1973, it was the perfect size then. I have raised children here, one has had to move away as it is impossible to raise children here on minimum wage because the rent is too expensive(still hold jobs here but can't afford to live in the city they work in). Seems many from Vancouver and Alberta are finding their homes here and pushing the the long standing residents out. Geographically it is a stunning city, one of the most gorgeous I have ever been in, but sadly as I wind down to retire...I need to find a home somewhere else more affordable. And don't get me started on the traffic/parking and the horrid drivers in this city. Kelowna is great in so many ways, if you are young, have money and have no dependents. All the best to you Noah...enjoy your stay.
Thanks for the great video. Have lived in Toronto for 20+ years, recently got a attractive job offer to work in Kelowna, have been learning about this place and thinking to work here. Any information would be appreciated

Hi, awesome video. I grew up on Vancouver Island and North Vancouver, I love both places but I left Van because I knew I would never be able to afford to save up and travel. So I lived in Calgary and travelled the world and almost moved to Malta but Covid had other ideas. So now I am in Kelowna and I love it just as much as you. Yes this city has some issues, but because it is smalller those issues show up a bit more. This city has very friendly people, nature and is warm. I have also started my own business as an Energy Healer and have found that the valley is a good place to start a business.
I want to move to Kelowna but I'm not really sure.. I want a city with much nature but also a city where I can find good jobs.. Any other suggestions, or is Kelowna good for it?
I live in Kelowna, have my whole life. It's great, but there's a lot of crappy people here. And the city development has devastated the beautiful scenery. People think it's beautiful now, they shoulda seen it before this disgusting cancer of a city was built. Orchard park mall is called "orchard park" because it's literally built on-top of land that used to be all orchards. There's plenty to do here but the city is getting out of hand. Really sad for those of us who appreciate the nature aspect of this area.
I saw it way back in the day when it was still a small town by the lake. We just sat around in the sunshine with nothing to do. I remember thinking that it was such a nice tranquil spot to take in the rays and reflect. I went back about twenty years ago...could not believe the change. A lot of the original inhabitants (who were country folk) may have moved on. "Beautiful British Columbia" but they are not joking when they say "Bring Cash".
Yes, 100% agree. Kelowna is one of the best and beautiful Canadian cities. Planning to come over soon for a phtographic trip....etc..... oh, yeh, and to try the eateries around town.
Lived here my whole life. You will love it. Especially if you love the outdoors. U can go from shopping at walmart to your very own river beach with absolute solitude in 15 mins. Or to the big lake in 10 :)

Hi neighbor. I love Kelowna. Been here for 12 years!
Now Kelowna becomes my dream city, So beautiful 😍
It's the best!
@@Noahvde ohh my goshh, You replied 😍❤️

Can you tell us about the crime rate in Kelowna and Vernon.
Thanks
Your camera work is awesome and the shots are great, but you are sniffing glue if you think Kelowna is the best city in Canada
Well said Sarah 👍 He must be sniffing glue 👍👍👍

I lived in Kelowna for over 10 years. I moved away 3 years ago and plan to move back and retire (Still have a few decades until I retire)
In 10 years my prediction is double current average house pricing 800.000 x 2 =
1.600.000 Million no joke.
I agree. I mean it's just not going to be the same in like 20 years.
You didn’t even mention the horrendous bussing system
and now 5g .. everywhere
we live in holland,my wife is born in canada, i have seen this town ones,we wanna go back to this place and see if it is good for people who don,t work no more,
"He said the lake which you can spend all day on and not really see anyone" hahahaha! Well maybe he was talking about winter. Going out on the lake in the summer is taking your like in your hands!
Truth. As a local I don’t go to local beaches in the summer because it’s jam packed. But I have my own secret spots 👌🏼
What about the severe drug and high crime issues.?
HAHAHHAHAHAA THIS GUY IS ONLY LISTING THE POSITIVES

I watched another youtuber's clip saying that Kelowna has really hot summer. Is that true???
I live in Vancouver and Kelowna actually looks pretty nice.
I grew up and live here currently.
I have been around the world and lived in many other places, yet I always want to come back to the Okanagan. Love it here
Great insight. I love Kelowna. I lived there for 7 months before life took me elsewhere. Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate it! Great city!
Went on a trip from Saskatchewan to Vancouver, on the way back we drove through Kelowna in the night, still so beautiful and amazing just driving through the city at night, i wish i could have stayed till morning to see how beautiful it really was
So cool. Yeah, I'm pretty happy here! You've got to come back and visit at some point.
I’m glad to see that people are noticing Kelowna and it’s beauty!
Kelowna sucks lol
We made 92k and still had to leave lol, 500k for a clapped out house... no thanks.
Looks beautiful! Moving from out of province and stuck between Kelowna and Victoria
Welcome to Kelowna! Hope you love it here as much as I do :)
I frickin hate this dump
Great place to live, if you like sitting in traffic... South Okanagan for the win.
Kelowna do you have any spare change B.c.
ok i will accpect a credit card
Hi thank you for the video! I’m gonna move to this town next year. could you please tell me how can I rent apartments there?
I visited Kelowna once, and I enjoyed it! 🥰
Such a great city hey?
Also the best part about Kelowna is you escape the Vancouver rains , which is pretty much like half year around and pretty a deal breaker !
I didn't know much about this city, but it seems pretty cool! Cheers from Quebec
@@Noahvde Absolutely!
Basically what I got from this video was that this city is just a normal Canadian city.
Pretty much except the weather is fantastic! Winters aren’t as cold and summer is HOT and you can suntan, boat, and swim
i moved here from ontario. This just popped up on my feed so i clicked it
So great! Thanks for watching!
been living in the area for a few good healthy years now, i can fully agree with this video. the surrounding area's if kelowna are breath taking. until you notice the gas price's jump for no reason, sun shine tax effect's EVERYTHING, real estate is fairly close to van (IMO), and an ever growing amount of out of province buyers. the bridge leaving kelowna is a murder fest as well. after the bridge into town the lay out of the city itself seems to have been done with a person tossing darts at a farm house.
that's me being nice and NOT complaining about the nick name smokanogan from the several years of being smoked in by the wild fire's. that's been just kinda unfortunate.
According to Wikipedia Kelowna has around 165,596 that's not a lot I mean to me it looks like a little town , but it's so beautiful surrounded by mountains and lakes
165k is most definitely not a “little town” lmao
I grew up there, it used to be wonderful 30 years ago. Way too crowded now.
When Canada was actually a good country lol
I was there 30 years ago and thought Kelowna was a great place not now, however. I met many great people there.
So glad you're happy with the move!
How is the weather there in the winter ? Does it rain a lot ? I was offered a job there but I don’t want to move if it’s too cold
It’s cool to see such a highly quality video about my hometown visiting all the places I’ve been.
Appreciate the kind words Shawn!
@@Noahvde same
Exactly what I would have said!
Hi Noah
Thanks for the video.
Yeah but no work there.
@@Littleblaza most people work at Copper Mt mine in Princeton or own a farm/vineyard.
Where can I move to in the interior where there aren't a lot of people to annoy me?
Lived here all my life. The nature is good. Everything else is pretty shit
Yep!
I hate the weather in the Okanagan. Too cloudy in the winter and too hot in the summer. That's just my personal opinion of course.
It's not all bad, just the part I found hard to adjust to when moving here.
Everything is nice and sweet until the wildfire starts raging.
If there is a place on earth without problems you make me know
Wildlifes just create smoke. it's the goddamn traffic I hate there...
Where did you move to Kelowna from? Vancouver?
Good luck finding housing that’s affordable

Welcome to Kelowna Noah! Loved the video and we love living here as much as you seem to. Looking forward to seeing more content!
I moved to Kelowna 2 months ago and I love it! Can't wait for the summer :)
Summer is terrible so many fires 😓😭
I would rather be in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal in my 20s if renting. In my 30s a smaller city is more appealing.
Kelowna is the best city in the world. Even though I live in the beautiful city of Kamloops, whenever I go to Kelowna, I feel like moving there.
You're really close then!
Studied at kelowna for few years. You make the city looked even more beautiful than my memories there, it's a wonderful place to live.
Love this video, I live in Kelowna aswell it’s such a beautiful city ✨
Thanks for the great video.
Have lived in Toronto for 20+ years, recently got a attractive job offer to work in Kelowna, have been learning about this place and thinking to work here. Any information would be appreciated

I'm here in Kelowna for my first winter after enjoying the year as it was. I have to agree, it's God's country anytime of the year. May we all have a joyful and enlightening 2021'
I mean. Theres not to much suburban sprawl. It's mostly just aparmtne tblcoks wherever they can stick them anywhere they can
That's what happens city's in nice places grow
Doooooooood, it’s suppose to be a secret! ;)
I'm moving in a month from Regina. Can't wait for beautiful new surroundings!
So exciting!
Lived here my whole life. You will love it. Especially if you love the outdoors. U can go from shopping at walmart to your very own river beach with absolute solitude in 15 mins. Or to the big lake in 10 :)
Maaaan. 24 years stuck here and it is such a fucking dead end city.
You got that right.
You are stuck in your own head … take some shrooms and go for long trail walks by black mountain golf course and walk around you will be alright friend ❤ sending you some fly 🐠

Smoke from summer fires, pesticides from the agricultural spraying. Traffic jams year round.
Motorboats noise on the lake. Snakes that rattle... yup not a fan.
went to boarding school in Kelowna for 2 years, summers and winter are so fun
I've been coming to Kelowna off and on for school over the last few years. It is a really nice place.
Thank you Noah! Very much enjoy your channel and with the opening of the restrictions, we would certainly be making a trip over there! Will seek out any your channel for any further recommendations in the Okanagan and would love to know if you have any favorite places for dining around Kelowna. Hopefully many places were able to survive and continue through this pandemic... All the best!
Quality video, really did Kelowna some justice with those shots. You're very right on the endless things to do. Having all seasons all year round is a blessing especially if you're an active adventureur like myself! I've been here my entire life. Moved here from Calgary when I was a little kid. Now 25 and wouldn't think of moving away anytime soon. It's constantly growing and I feel more people should hear about our small city and enjoy what we have to offer. Feel proud to call myself a local although I wasn't born here I was raised here!!! :D keep on making videos, you have a lot of talent and could bring people to have new experiences here! Much love!
Really appreciate that Harrison. Yes, one of the best parts. Year round you can find adventure!
Grown quite a bit in the last couple of years??? When I moved here Walmart was a golf course Orchard Ford was the Flintstone park...
Walmart was a slaughter house, used to be a giant feedlot and a rugged slaughterhouse I went in, they were cutting the throats of pigs and throwing them into a bowling water thing to remove the skin while they were still alive.
