I just made one, it's awesome Thanks..I used my hammock, both ends to the top of the rear (central) post, then the lower one loops the hammock in half, allowing quite a lot of adjustment.

It is the right dimension to make it a sling bag to keep your bag and boots out of ground and put it under your hammock

Use prusik loops for the cross bar you can adjust the height
Excellent, long awaited video! This is up there on my list of things to make. I've ordered 5 IPK's, various plans for the fabric, including a boat tent, but the bush chair is also up there. What are the dimensions of yours? I'm guessing 4'x2'?

Can't remember off the tip of me head what the dimensions are, but 2'x4' is probably about right - the dimensions aren't critical though - big enough to support your back plus a foot or two. +Danny Walker - Cheers Danny, glad you liked it! You could use almost anything really as long as it doesn't have any stretch to it - canvas, nylon, polycotton, something like that would be fine. And the width could be wider than mine, it's just what I had when I made it. The wider it is, the more cocoon like it will be! Good luck, it's a comfy chair!! Atb, Simon.

I think it’s about 1m (3’) but really it could be longer, and wider - it’s just what I had when I made it - bigger would be better as it could then serve other purposes too (carrier for collected firewood, make-shift hammock etc) definitely a bloody comfy camp chair though!!

And just exactly whhhhere, might I ask, is the comfy chair for the little doggie? Also, where using a tree as the third leg of the tripod is a sound idea in principle, how does one set about moving it if smoke starts blowing into one's mush? I need to know this stuff.
John Finnis - Well, the comfy chair for the doggy is somewhere very close to any food that might be around, and as for moving the bipod chair, there are many options, but if only one tree is available (and it would be a rather disappointing wood if this were the case) you still have 360 different positions, 180 of which involve not facing the offending smoke. There! Hehehe.
All well and good, but I camp in Four-Tree Wood, in which three of the original trees are long since gone. One was cut down, one burned down and the third somehow managed to catch mange and snapped in half while trying to scratch itself. Consequently, my options are somewhat limited and I''ll stick to the folding camp chair, ta all the same. Pip pip.
Never tried one, maybe i will now. Off topic I know, but I used to like those woods there where you are, I still do I suppose, but what happened at East Harling has put me off somewhat, shocking terrible stuff. One of the downsides of camping in the woods etc etc, some of the undesirables you can find in them, my local woods here have a bad reputation for stuff like that. Thanks again mate.

Yeah I'll definitely try one of those chairs now. Regards the stabbing, I go fishing at Harling Lakes at times when I'm up there, such a nice place, has spoilt it forever somewhat. Was shocked when I heard the news. Thanks again.
+James S D - definitely shocking and sad. I suppose it will always be in my mind when I'm over there. I'm glad the caught the offender. It's things like this that make the general public suspicious of people like myself who like to use woodland to practice bushcraft skills - they see a bloke wearing green in the woods with an axe strapped to his rucksack and assume the worst! A shame.

6:09 If you have 2 trees spaced the appropriate distance, you could also make a hammock chair. With a hammock chair, you couldn't move it to different spots in camp though.

What are the dimensions, and if you weren't limited by the size of material, what dims would you want it to be?
The dimensions are roughly 1m x 500mm, A bit wider would be better. 👍
If you sew up ( cause every guy needs to learn a bit of sewing ) the bag the chair comes in just right you can use it for a beer holder that you then the to the chair. Not that I every set my Guinness down once I sit down. 🍺🖖

you can use a cheap hammock to make this chair, a net one from china about a tenner or less work.

that type of hammock is generally not good to sleep in more of a day hammock. not very wide.
I carry a three-legged stool on my self-designed camera caddy. It clips onto the shoulder harness. I can carry it all day and not know its there. Weighs nothing.
Looks very comfy. Now then… where's your cup/beer holder! Ha. I'm sure you could think of something creative. And don't say the floor!
+randyknighty - Hahaha! Like it, I often hang stuff off the horizontal pole - fire glove, clothes to dry etc, so I suppose some sort of dangling cup/bottle/can holder could be hung off it! For me it would have to have a platform to hold my cup of tea. 😁 Glad you enjoyed it, Atb, Simon.
