Why is it so hard for parents to admit to their children being abused under their care? That damages the child more than anything when their experiences are invalidated.
So true,I was abused by my 'father'..and my mum did NOTHING to stop it, because her mansion/money and possessions meant more. She recently actually ADMITTED to my sister,the reason she never left him/stood up to him..was for the above mentioned reasons.. Parents if u see the signs..LEAVE or KICK THEM OUT. I've had a lifetime of self doubt/trauma etc,as a result of not being heard
My mom still calls me a liar till this day I unfortunately went through years of abuse with my kids father and I fully apologized and recognized the trauma they had to go through because of my bad decisions 💔 and now I won't have no man around them again
A lot of the older generation won’t admit how they abused us because they see it as “discipline”..but in reality a lot of the “discipline” they did would have landed them in jail if the law knew about it.
Generational trauma is so big because instead of acknowledging, addressing, and growing they “stuck in their ways”. Just because your parents brought you up certain way doesn’t mean it was normal. And you learn that when you socialize and get around other “different “ people. You see other families and see that fine line between normalcy and abnormal/abuse. Thats how i knew that alot of what i grew up on was not normal.
Yeah I'd admit it was abuse however the way children are raised today they feel entitled and definitely lack respect. I'm not saying abuse is ok nah but discipline is necessary

I can sympathize. I stabbed my mom’s boyfriend when I was 15 because he was beating her. And she stayed with him, I ended up put out. My mom was abusive to me before that particular guy, so I didn’t expect much from her. She was much older than him, with 4 kids, had low self esteem, and very overweight… in other words, she was desperate. So, she chose him over me…every time. My mom and I just can’t emotionally connect now…20 years later. She has apologized, but she lacks true accountability for everything she did and allowed. She places blame on everything and everyone else. I love her, I can’t help that fact. But, for my own mental health… I keep her distanced. I was so triggered and reactionary to her. I also suffered from ptsd, undiagnosed adhd and ASD… so I’m in therapy now and being the parent I always wanted. I will never have a good relationship with my mom, but my child will! ❤
I came back to say that parents need grace too. My mom had a drug addicted mother and absent father. She was raised by the streets. As children, our parents are pseudo Gods to us. They provide everything and we learn of the world through them and the things we have exposure to. Sometimes it’s hard to acknowledge their imperfections and when they themselves lack the emotional intelligence to give us what we need. Having said that, I think parenting classes, therapy, and intentionality are necessary before bringing a child into the world. They are innocent and don’t deserve to bear the burden of their parents traumas and issues. While Karamo is usually on point, he does miss the mark from time to time. I don’t know if this is the entire segment but if so, I don’t think he validated the daughter enough or held mom fully accountable.
I see a lot of my own experiences and life in your story. It's hard to heal and move forward, but it seems like you're processing and recovering in your own time. I wish you all the best and hope that you are living your life the way you want to!

I relate to this on another level. My mother is also emotionally unavailable and decided to be a parent only once I got older and not when I truly needed her at the time. She also plays victim and downplays my emotions because everything is about her and her struggles. It's hard to love a parent and be resentful of them at the same time, it's not easy just letting go of the past because it shaped who the daughter is today. They both need some serious counseling in order to repair their relationship

Based on the dialogue of his show, it may be ineffective for the goal he is trying to reach. His goal is to not make anyone look like the bad guy, it is creating a safe space for everyone to open up without feeling judged thus, encouraging people to be open and heal and move forward. However, he may use it for infidelity shows but I've not seen him use it to see if parents or children are lying.
Some "parents" put you in the some of the worst situations that even THEY can't deal with, but expect you to know all the answers as a child. They don't give guidance, support, love, nothing, but want to act delulu when they get called out, and say they did the best they could. Naw, they did the best they could for themselves‼️ I stopped bringing that stuff up and arguing, long time ago. They know what happened; I know what happened. I went to therapy, and I'm good, now. I dont believe he invalidtated her because he clearly stated “I wasn’t there so I don’t know” and then redirected the conversation to the real root of the problem. Which is the proper response when you have one side saying something happened and the other saying the complete opposite and calling the other person a liar. I can relate oh so much, I had a lot of encounters with my mom's boyfriend who then became her husband. I remember when I told her how he made me feel, very uncomfortable. Let's just say my mom told him, what I said to her. I, was really upset. Fast forward today I'm 37 years wiser 🤗 and I'm a mother of 5 and been married for 17 and counting years, to the father of my children. My mother has yet, left him. I have been so thankful my mom saw his real colors and left, him to know that he wasn't great for her, her children. Her and our relationship is so healthy, and such a blessing 🙏🏾
I hope Monique finds peace, her being made to acknowledge how her mom struggled without having her held accountable for the abuse and trauma she put her through made it seem like she had to accept what happened to her. Her mom really sat up there and played her pity cards. I understand things get hard and you perpetuate the cycles you were in, but that doesn’t justify your actions. A couple things to keep in mind. Not everybody should be a parent. Blood isn't thicker than water. Kids can be disrespectful and not know how to take the punishment.

This is literally me and my mom’s relationship. She left me when I was 3 years old back home in Africa, and she never come back and talked to me. I met her for the first time in after 19 years of my life. She never did something wrong because she’s a mom even though she calls me “ pop, ugly, dark “ 😢I moved her state and now I live different state. I drove 12 hours to just far away from her. I’m so stupid calling her the last Christmas after not talking her 9 months. The last 9 months, I grow up mentally and emotionally and I tried to forgive her and go my world. But her, still same. She’s abuser and negative person. She hate my dad, her sisters and my siblings. I wish the best!
This episode is definitely generational curse. As much as the daughter seen her Mother relationship trauma she couldn't change or run far enough from it. The daughter is hurting because she wants to be better but in the same path road as her Mother's past. Mother is hurting that daughter experiencing same trauma and won't open up. They must receive counseling and forgive themselves and each other. Unable to change the past but definitely can heal and make wiser decisions for future. Praying for both ladies and grandkids. The mom oozes immaturity. You can just tell she’s not emotionally mature so the daughter is in a lose lose situation. Her mom will not change or grow without external help, she literally just doesn’t have the tools.

Yes, I didn't like that he invalidated her when she said her dad was emotional available and she wasn't it. Of course, it would hurt to hear that, but if they both want to heal, they're going to have to be truthful about how they feel.
He totally invalidated the daughter! He got it wrong on this one for sure. He didn’t really hold the mom accountable for her lack of emotional support to her daughter throughout her life. He basically excused mom’s behavior because she was a single mom being abused. It was still mom’s responsibility to support her children as she failed. Karamo needs more training in family therapy. He just gives his opinion.
I dont believe he invalidtated her because he clearly stated “I wasn’t there so I don’t know” and then redirected the conversation to the real root of the problem. Which is the proper response when you have one side saying something happened and the other saying the complete opposite and calling the other person a liar. He doesn’t know the truth and he’s not there to take sides. He’s there to help mend their relationship.

I can relate oh so much, I had a lot of encounters with my mom's boyfriend who then became her husband. I remember when I told her how he made me feel, very uncomfortable. Let's just say my mom told him, what I said to her.
I, was really upset. Fast forward today I'm 37 years wiser 🤗 and I'm a mother of 5 and been married for 17 and counting years, to the father of my children.
My mother has yet, left him. I have been so thankful my mom saw his real colors and left, him to know that he wasn't great for her, her children. Her and our relationship is so healthy, and such a blessing 🙏🏾

Her mom really sat up there and played her pity cards. I understand things get hard and you perpetuate the cycles you were in, but that doesn’t justify your actions. I don’t care if she remembered what she did or not, she still should have apologized for the experience her daughter carries now. Really hoping Monique can heal and break out of these abusive cycles in order to protect herself and her child🙏🏾🫶🏾

A couple things to keep in mind. Not everybody should be a parent. Blood isn't thicker than water. Kids can be disrespectful and not know how to take the punishment.

Parents, don't ask r expect your kids to respect someone who is abusing you or is an otherwise shitty person. EVER!!! The mom knows she let a man do whatever to her daughter because she prioritizes men more than her child's safety. She won't even take accountability to save her relationship with her kid. I go No Contact with people so easily. It isn't hard. That mom would never find or hear from me again.

This is literally me and my mom’s relationship. She left me when I was 3 years old back home in Africa, and she never come back and talked to me. I met her for the first time in after 19 years of my life. She never did something wrong because she’s a mom even though she calls me “ pop, ugly, dark “ 😢I moved her state and now I live different state. I drove 12 hours to just far away from her. I’m so stupid calling her the last Christmas after not talking her 9 months. The last 9 months, I grow up mentally and emotionally and I tried to forgive her and go my world. But her, still same. She’s abuser and negative person. She hate my dad, her sisters and my siblings. I wish the best!
This episode is definitely generational curse. As much as the daughter seen her Mother relationship trauma she couldn't change or run far enough from it. The daughter is hurting because she wants to be better but in the same path road as her Mother's past. Mother is hurting that daughter experiencing same trauma and won't open up. They must receive counseling and forgive themselves and each other. Unable to change the past but definitely can heal and make wiser decisions for future. Praying for both ladies and grandkids. Generational curse must stop!!!

Notice how the mom, after admitting her daughter witnessed her being abused by this man began to tug at her shirt. She doesn’t want to fully admit that she was abused herself because her children were present or at least her daughter was present. Which mean the daughter was emotionally abused due to watching the mother being abused and because the mom was already being abused by the man, she probably could not protect the child from the man there’s a lot of layers here and children who grow up angry overprotective sad like this beautiful girl here they’re not lying she’s not lying and it’s possible That the mom has put this in the back of her mind or completely forgotten about it because it did not happen to her it’s not just the daughters viewpoint or perspective it’s her actual reality because it happened to her just my two.
