- Wikipedia

Monsieur d'Elbée (Vendéen Royalist song). This is a song about the leaders of the Catholic and Royal Army.
The War in the Vendée (1793; French: Guerre de Vendée) was an uprising in the Vendée region of France during the French Revolution. The Vendée is a coastal region, located immediately south of the Loire River in western France. Initially, the war was similar to the 14th-century Jacquerie peasant uprising, but quickly acquired themes considered by the government in Paris to be counter-revolutionary, and Royalist. The uprising headed by the self-styled Catholic and Royal Army was comparable to the Chouannerie, which took place in the area north of the Loire. - Wikipedia
---------Deutsch---------------------------------------------------------------

- Wikipedia

Liberty as a main republican value... and they can't even provide the free speech.
How the hell is this song banned?!

Why "The Gaubretière"? The place is La Gaubretière, a commune in the Vendée.

Wish it had an English translation, I do like the sound.
This is a year late, but here are two translations below. The first translation is very literal, while I tried to make the second one flow better with the tune and rhyme it where I could without taking too much creative liberty. I prefer the second one, but will leave both versions. I don't have the time or means to make it rhyme/fit perfectly in English without completely rewriting it, so some of the original charm is lost in translation. I also added footnotes to explain some of the words/lyrics with a little historical context.
MARCH OF THE CATHOLIC AND ROYAL ARMY [Version 1]
Mr.[1] D'Elbée, x2
It is by you that they will be saved,
Mr. D'Elbée, x2
And our parishes and our pastors[2].
Mr. Stofflet, [x2]
By the sabre and the pistol,
Mr. Stofflet, [x2]
We are going to deliver Cholet.
Cathelineau, Cathelineau,
From Chemillé by Beapreau,
Cathelineau, Cathelineau,
We will stomp our clogs.
Mr. d'Bonchamps, x2
You[3] are going to protect Saint Florent,
Mr. d'Bonchamps, x2
We are peasant soldiers.
Mr. d'Charette, x2
With our pitchforks and our billhooks,
Mr. d'Charette, x2
Are going to walk by our head.
Mr. Henri, x2
We will defend our farms,
Mr. Henri, x2
With our hearts and our rifles[4].
Mr. d'Lescure, x2
In God's Name, we swear it to you,
Mr. d'Lescure, x2
We follow you until Saumur.
Mr. d'la Verrie, x2
Gaubretière is not a nest [of spies],
Mr. d'la Verrie, x2
It's all the Vendée who turns red[5].
[1] The literal translation is "Mister", but at the time, "Mr." would only have been used for the landed aristocracy and is meant as a title to delineate a social status along the lines of "Lord", "Sire", "My Lord", or "Sir", unlike today where it is used as a polite way to refer to a man of any class.
[2] I.e. a Catholic priest in charge of a local parish.
[3] The version of "you" used here is the formal polite version that we now use in English generically whether intended as formal or informal, so the gesture of polite acknowledgement to his authority over them is lost on us somewhat in translation.
[4] This can also be translated generically as "guns" which would have been some sort of musket. Since rifled firearms were even more expensive than smoothbore muskets, the poor peasants who made this song (as indicated by their reference to their clogs, i.e. the shoes of the poor peasants and a symbol of this region), they likely just meant muskets generally and would have used whatever they could get their hands on.
[5] The word "nest" likely refers to the fear of spies or traitors to the cause in that area. The verse taken as a whole is meant as a reassurance to this leader that they all are loyal to the royalist cause. The symbolic colour of the royalists was red, which is why it refers to the whole province as being red here, as opposed to the Masonic revolutionaries who were denoted by the colour blue or a combination of red, white, and blue. This reference is not to be confused with communist "reds" who came about roughly a century later.
MARCH OF THE CATHOLIC AND ROYAL ARMY [Version 2]

Lord D'Elbée, x2

Lord d'Bonchamps, x2

Hi, I am foreigner. I am very interested in the the study of French royalists. I wonder how do modern french view those french royalist heroes?

The vendee was the first genocide in the history of Europe although I could be wrong, but God bless this royalists and lest we forget
Definitely not the first (especially depending on what you mean by history of Europe) but definitely one of if not the most tragically forgotten
It is one of the first recorded instances of political genocide though this is highly disputed within academia, but it is not the first recorded genocide to have taken place within Europe as there were many instances of genocide to have taken place prior.
@Jonathan Williams That would be correct in a way, though I was viewing (political) in a somewhat more strict sense and would view those genocides as religious rather than political. Such as with the cathars
