very nice, also if you have issues with the server not popping up in lan servers, the host can find his zerotier ip adress. Then you just paste that, followed by :port into direct connect and it will work.
its Worked sheesh edit: my friend cant see the server ( use direct connect ) worked for me the ip is on the zero tier (if its still cannot join, turn off your firewall) worked for me
Hi! Can u explain how to do same steps on Mac OS? My bf have windows pc and I have Mac OS. How can I do same steps with ethernet protocols on my Mac? (MacBook Pro M1). Thanks!
hi bro, followed the video exactly and nothing seems to be happening. Both me and my friend are authorised on zerotier and can ping each other. We cant directly connect to each other and minecraft isnt detecting the lan
Version 1.18.1 with fabric mods Im trying to join a friend. I see the LAN Server in the Multiplayer join. I click join and it says that the connection timed out. What should I do
When I try the server doesnt show up and when i direct connect to lan we are able to join but it kicks us out instantly and says a fatal error has occured connection terminated
if you are using non Microsoft minecraft accounts you will need to change a few settings. ive found that just using tlauncher works best without needing to modify any settings.
Yesterday me and my friends were able to play. but today I cant see his world anymore, please help. It is open to LAN, I am authorized on his zerotier, I did the uncheck automatic metric with the 2 and 1. please help
ok, so I did everything step by step, my world simply doesn't show up in my friends server list, direct connection also doesn't work, I use tlauncher with some mods, any idea what's wrong?
are both of you authorized on the zerotier network? i would make sure both of you are connected and allowed on the network. zerotier should assign both you and you and your friend an ip address for the tunnel. once that checks out, use the ip address provided on the zerotier control page to connect to your friend.
@@burtonbros8138 I did bro, we are both authorized, I followed your tutorial step by step, I even disabled Windows Defender, still nothing, and thank you for replying even years later, mad respect bro
@@CainDB can you ping your friends ip? the one provided by zerotier? search for "cmd" and run it. then type: ping Your friends ip here and it should reply back.

im not familiar with the mac side of zerotier. for mac os, i would just go threw the process of setting up zerotier, joining the same network and not mess with the Ethernet protocols. whoever is hosting the server will need to provide you with the ip address zerotier assigned them so that you can use direct connect and type it in there.
im not upto date with mac but you can skip those steps and just direct connect to the server using their address (the one zerotier gave them). what those steps do in windows is allow it to "list the game" automatically. you can just add the server using its zerotier address. hope that helps.
@@burtonbros8138 oh ok, thank you for the reply! apparently when my friend joins he just sees the complete void then disconnects, but that's probably just an internet problem
sorry for the late reply, this step is more for convenience. you can direct connect to your friends lan game or they can connect to yours using the ip address provided by zerotier. this step just lets the game show up automatically becasue windows is prioritizing information from the tunnel created by zerotier. recently tho, windows updates have broken it so its best to use direct connect and just manually enter the address to the server you wish to connect to. this step is not mandatory on the server or client, you will just have to enter the servers address(the zerotier one) manually on the clients.
be sure to open the sever to lan. also, make sure your friend did not skip any steps. you can have your friend enter the ip address assigned from zerotier if the game wont show up. this usually works. also, check that both of you are connected using zerotier.
Are you sure you followed the video correctly? Also, if you have certain firewall restrictions in place that block tunneling or 3rd party AV software it can throw off your experience. You have to also make sure that who ever you are trying to network with follows the instructions too or it wont work.
go ahead and see if moving forward with the tutorial allows you to still network. i will admit that i have recently abandoned windows for linux. anything past windows 10 im not super familiar with. from what i understand it should still work but my knowledge is limited past windows 10.

I absolutely love this channel because not only this is very helpful for my gaming with my friends this also helped me learn more about zerotier
It works, I had problems playing through Hamachi and instead we tried this. Thanks for your video :)
this is the most helpful (and for me only working) method i found on youtube....this video diserves more views
glad it worked out for you. the zero tier method works on a bunch of other games too.

ive been busy with school and work. zerotier has been updated somewhat and its probably getting time to make an updated walk through.
