Regarding step 10 you inserted the white neutral wire to the wrong side of outlet which could cause hot / neutral reversal to someone watching. Correct connection should be part of this.
That's a good tip, about cutting old nicked up ends off wires if they're long enough. One thing that bugs me about the more expensive outlets, is they don't have the little indents where the plugs are inserted. The indents make it easier to line up the prongs without them slipping off and shorting out to a cover or something. Thanks!

No, only 2 and they must be the same gauge.
